Chapter 5: Meeting Kagami…Sort Of…
All Midorima could think of doing was his best at keeping his dinner down and his breathing regular.
"This is the reason why I don't eat fast food…ugh…" the green greenette couldn't help the feeling of nausea that overcame him from the simple thought of the greasy garbage. Always only eating the finest and freshest, something like fast food was enough to send his stomach through a whirlwind of pain.
While he was trying to breathe, he vaguely felt something- arms most likely- pick him up. Not really caring about his dignity at this point, he let himself be carried. His mind was trying to process why he was going through this pain in the first place, so he didn't bother with the two people that were in his presence.

Upon arriving at the spot a little ways from his favorite fast food joint, Maji Burger, Kagami had to keep his laughter in check. His childhood friend, Kuroko, had never been one to say much. She only ever said what needed to be said, occasionally joking here and there. Upon hearing her voice coming from the listening part of his cellphone, he couldn't help but wonder who this friend of hers was.
Oh well. He'd meet the person soon enough. While he was struggling to find some jeans and a black t-shirt to cover his bare chest, he stubbed his toe on the foot of his bed, effectively waking him up. Seeing what time it was, he figured he could grab an early dinner after he helped Kuroko. Making sure his wallet, keys and phone were in his rather large jean pockets, Kagami left his empty apartment and started on his way.
However, when he caught sight of the person curled over on the ground, he almost started laughing outright. Almost. While he is bigger and definitely stronger than his childhood friend, she has ways to make up for it. Shuddering from the last time he felt her wrath, he managed to keep any laughs out of his system.
It was really hard though. I mean, how often do you see a guy with dark emerald green hair with a face taking on a sickly green? Not often.
"More like never…" Kagami thought.
Knowing though that Kuroko would never simply call to joke around with him and was never the type of person to laugh at others' misery, Kagami jogged over to where the two were.
After listening to what Kuroko wanted him to do, he grudgingly picked the sick stranger up. Of all things though, he couldn't simply lend his shoulder for the guy to be supported with. Oh no. He had to carry him princess style, of all things!
Kagami was just glad that nobody recognized him. He couldn't help the feeling of doubt and dread that overcame him though.
"Dangit…Kuroko is never going to let me live this down," he thought, mentally sighing.
INSERT LINE BREAK
While the two walked in slightly awkward silence, they listened to the wheezing of the male that Kagami was still carrying. Kuroko had told him to walk slowly so as not to jostle the sick man any further. Still grumbling under his breath, the trio made it back to Kuroko's apartment where Kagami laid the now unconscious male on her small couch.
"Oi Kuroko…" Kagami started as a tick mark appeared on his forehead.
"Yes, Kagami-kun?" came the monotone reply.
"You better not mention a word of this to anyone. EVER."
"Bakagami-kun, if I did that, Shin-…Midorima-san's pride would go down the drain."
"What about me?!"
"…"
"What's with the lack of response?!"
Smack!
"OI! Why'd ya hit me?!"
"Bakagami…silence!"
"…Yes ma'am."
"…Am I interrupting something by waking up now or what?" they heard the still sick greenette ask.
Turning towards him in sync, they both shook their heads.
"Midorima-san, this is my childhood friend Kagami-kun. Kagami-kun, this is the new school nurse I was telling you about a while back."
Both males wordlessly stared at each other before nodding.
Walking towards the tsundere, Kagami offered his hand for a handshake.
"Sorry if I woke you up. Are you feeling any better now?"
A groan told him his answer- No, he was not feeling better at all. That's the thing about fast food- when you haven't had it in months, let alone years, it tends to do a number on your stomach no matter what.
Shaking his head a bit, Kagami walked back to Kuroko's front door whispering something into the small bluenettes ears. This of course went unnoticed by the sick person still struggling to sit up.
Sighing a bit, Kuroko bid farewell to Kagami who took great care to silently close the door.
Walking back into her small living room, Kuroko kneeled down to where Midorima's head lay, defeated.
"Shintarou-san, please get comfortable. I will have you stay the night. If you wish to notify your parents of your whereabouts, I could call them for you if-," a shaky hand interrupted her as it landed on her head with an audible thump.
"Tetsuki, you don't need to call my parents. I notified them while we were standing in line at that…place…"
"Okay then. Do you need some stomach medicine? Do you want some more green tea?"
"Honestly, I'd rather just sleep and wait for the sickness to pass."
Sigh "That won't do, Shintarou-san. Since you are my guest and will soon my roommate it is only natural for me to take care of you. I'll make some green tea and get you the medicine, so wait a bit."
With that, Kuroko made her way into her home's main bathroom where she kept all her medicines. Hey, she never knew what to expect. Being around little kids all day, it wouldn't be surprising if she got a cold or flu from them. Even though she's always telling them to wash their hands…
Sigh
Meanwhile, as Kuroko was moving about her home, Midorima cracked his eyes open, feeling some of the sickness leave him. Blinking a bit to get them adjusted to the sunset light peeking in through Kuroko's dainty little curtains, he rolled his eyes around in his head to try and see where he was.
"Judging by the length of what I'm on as well as the softness…I'm most likely on the little couch. Oh no…I feel like puking." Quickly shooting his hands up to his face and hitting his chin in the process, Midorima made a very loud, uncomfortable sound.
Even though it was muffled, Kuroko still heard it. Rushing into the little room quickly, she took one look and was out and back in under a minute carrying a trash bin in one hand and a wet rag in another.
Setting to work quickly, Kuroko managed to get the school nurse into a sitting position. Moving her coffee table back a bit, she gently yet quickly maneuvered the sick man to sitting on the floor with the couch supporting his back. Putting the trash bin under his head, she took the cool, wet rag and waited…what she was waiting for came soon enough.
"BLEEEEGH! *cough cough cough* Ugh…"
Making sure that he wouldn't go again, she gently wiped his face with the cool cloth and finished off at his mouth, cleaning off the barf. Quickly getting up to rinse it out and put it in the laundry bin for later, she got a glass of cold water. Going back the greenette, she told him what to do.
Even though he is technically a doctor and already knows what to do when he's sick, the fact that he rarely gets sick puts a damper on his abilities. Swishing the cool liquid in his mouth, he winces at the nasty taste that assaults his taste buds. Spitting it out into the trash bin, he does the same thing two more times. Glad that his stomach was no longer threatening to kill him, he leaned his head back, taking in a deep breath of air.
He wasn't really expecting to be offered a cup of green tea though. Not saying anything, he silently accepted the warm drink which helped soothed his throat and his stomach even more. Seeing a cracker being held in her palm, he also graciously took it and ate it, happy that it got rid of the acidic taste of his vomit. Slowly sipping his tea and munching on the cracker, he wasn't aware of how long he had been sipping on it until there was no more left.
A little sad that the drink was no longer available to him, he was pleasantly surprised when yet another cup of warm green tea was offered along with another cracker. Sending a grateful look towards the woman that intrigued him, he took the offered items and let them soothe him into a restful slumber. By then he had managed to take off his jacket and shoes which were placed in different locations, but he couldn't care less, not when sleep was calling him. Setting his second empty cup down on the once more close coffee table, he was helped back up onto the couch.
Feeling a pillow under his head and a blanket over him, he drifted off to sleep muttering a quiet 'Thank you' under his breath before the darkness claimed him.
Smiling a bit at how easy to read he was when he was defenseless like this, Kuroko felt a little twinge of something get pulled in her heart. Shaking her head a bit, smile still in place, Kuroko took the glasses off the sleeping tsundere before making sure to place them on the coffee table. Once again sliding it farther away, she got up and headed off to get ready for sleep herself.
Kagami's whispered message played in her head though.
"I'm also here."
