Hunting Season's Coda

Hunter J's headquarters was a veritable fortress. It was a huge concrete and metal structure built into the side of a mountain near the center of the Sinnoh Region. Under the cover of night, Hunter J's airship flew in and docked in the hanger. Hunter J and her crew of grunts disembarked and walked into the lair. The woman in charge was seething with rage.

"We have yet to slaughter a single Legendary Pokemon!" Hunter J said as she clenched her metallic right fist, "And it's all because of those meddling Swords of Justice." She composed herself and regained her cold, calculating demeanor and said, "Well, I plan to come back very soon, with much more potent firepower, and protection from Meloetta's accursed singing. Then, I will be able to start a trophy case with a collection of horns."

POKE-MON! Swords of Justice

The Swords of Justice stood on the cliff top, looking over the Sinnoh Region.

Four swords count it off!

One! Two! Three! Four!

Justice!

Super hero action!

Justice!

Never let us down!

Justice!

Poke-battling action!

Justice!

Evil's going down!

Keldeo stood on his front hooves and spun around, spraying water.

Terrakion fired a powerful Hyper-Beam.

Four swords count it off!

ONE!

Coballion is always in control!

TWO!

The wise guy is, known as Keldeo!

THREE!

Virizion, she's the brains of the bunch!

FOUR!

Count on Terrakion to go for first punch!

Zero smiled, his exposed left eye sparkling.

Spot lights turned as Jessie and James stood proudly. Meowth back flipped and landed between them.

Shuppet and Mismagious grunted as they fired their Psychic attacks.

Hunting Season's Coda

A pair of grunts stood guard outside the hanger, pacing back and forth, merely keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. However, one of them was taken out without warning by a Focus Blast. The other grunt turned just in time to receive a Focus Blast as well.

There was then a loud, rousing battle cry that rapidly approached the entrance to the lair.

"STAND UP! BE BRAVE! HOLD OOOOOOOOONNNNNNNN!"

A Hyper Beam blasted a huge hole in the hanger door, and the Swords of Justice, accompanied by Victini and an invisible Meloetta, charged forward.

Alarms sounded throughout the complex as Hunter J burst into the security room. She clenched her teeth in intense rage as one of the screens showed the attacking Pokemon rush in through the hole in the door. Grunts were rushing in on the scene, sending out their Pokemon to fight the invaders.

"How did those interlopers find us?!" she shouted, causing the security officer in the room with her to cringe away from her.

Hunter J lifted her wrist to her mouth and spoke into a communicator embedded in her cybernetic arm, "J to training room. Send my two newest recruits down to wear out those meddling Legendaries a bit. I know that they won't be able to defeat them, but all I need is for them to wear those Legendaries down enough so I can squeeze the life out of them."

Keldeo kicked a Houndoom into his trainer, knocking both human and Pokemon out. The Colt Pokemon smirked and said, "Heh! These guys are pushovers! Hunter J, here we come!"

Victini flew over from the gang of Ariados and grunts he took care of and nudged Keldeo in the side, "Hey, why don't you and your buddies sit back and relax. Leave this all to me."

Keldeo glared at Victini and said, "Stay away from Hunter J! She's mine!"

"I'm going to stop you two right there," Coballion said in utmost seriousness, "Hunter J is a lethal threat. We take her down as a team. No glory, no pride, just duty, understand."

Suddenly, the Swords of Justice were all lifted into the air by Psychic.

"Wha-?" Victini gasped, then he turned to see Mismagius and Shuppet entering the room. "You two?" he said.

"(Do you know what we've been through under that witch?)" Mismagius said with eye glowing with Psychic, "(What we endured under her was living Hell!)"

Shuppet had an unnerving twitch in his left eye as he shuddered and said, "(Heh-hee-hee! And of course we blame you for all of that-)"

"WHY?" Keldeo exclaimed, "Shouldn't you be blaming Hunter J. We didn't deliver you to her!)"

"(If it hadn't been for you Branches of Justice, none of this would be happening!)" Mismagius said and motioned all around, "(This is your fault! All of it!)"

"It's Swords of Justice, you idiots!" Victini said as he unleashed a Searing Shot attack.

Shuppet flew in and blocked it with a powerful Shadow Ball, laughing insanely all the while.

Victini was shocked, "Wha-? Why you-!"

Victini flew in for a Zen Headbutt, but Shuppet fired a Thunderbolt into Victini face, causing him to land clumsily onto the ground.

"COWARDS!" Terrakion shouted, "Let us go and face us!"

Mismagius just grinned, and turned to watch Shuppet counter Victini's attacks.

Mismagius didn't notice Meloetta floating behind until it was too late. Mismagius was thrown down hard by Meloetta's Psychic attack, and the Swords of Justice all landed back onto the floor.

At that very moment, Victini plowed through Shuppet's Shadow Ball with a V-Create, and the resulting explosion blasted Shuppet on top of the stunned Mismagius.

Keldeo smiled and said, "Coballion, what do you say we blast them out of here?"

Coballion looked at Keldeo inquisitively and asked, "What did you have in mind?"

Keldeo jumped over the two Ghost-types and turned to face them. He smirked and said, "Hit 'em before they hit the ground!"

Keldeo then used Hydro Pump to push Shuppet and Mismagius up off the ground, and they sailed through the air towards the hanger entrance. As they sailed over head, Coballion quickly turned, aimed, and fired a Flash Cannon at the pair, blasting them out, up, and away from the mountain lair.

"(At least we're finally free!)" Shuppet remarked.

"(But we're blasting off again!)" Mismagius shouted.

When the Ghost-types were out of sight, Victini laughed and flew up to Meloetta, saying, "Good job, my sweet melody! You're stealth was just as sweet!"

Meloetta shrank away as Victini reached out for him, She just smiled shyly and said, "(I just did what any Pokemon would do if they could turn invisible.)"

Victini grinned and said, "Well, I'm pretty sure I could've taken down those tow by myself. I mean, come on! I'm the Victory Pokemon!"

Then, in a flash, Victini was encased in bronze and fell to the floor with a clang, still wearing a smile on his face. Meloetta gasped and promptly became invisible again.

"It's Hunter-" Terrakion began, but was cut off when he too was turned to bronze.

Keldeo, Virizion, and Coballion all turned and readied themselves as Hunter J walked in, her dark visor covering her eyes and her dark purple clothing covering the metallic parts of her body.

"Hunter J," Keldeo said, "We meet-."

Keldeo had to jump out of the way when J fired a shot from her petrifying arm cannon.

"No talking, just killing," J said fiercely, her face twisted with rage.

"You're sick, J," Virizion said with a mixture of pity and loathing, "Literally, you're sick. Your body's been destroyed, too much of you isn't human anymore. You're body matches your heart now, and now it's twisting your mind. Killing all Legendary Pokemon? Do I even need to give reasons why-"

Virizion gracefully dodged another blast, and Coballion hardened his gaze and said, "J might have a point. No more talking. Attack!"

Coballion, flanked by Virizion and Keldeo charged at Hunter J, prepared to quickly jump or roll out of the way if J fired so that the other two could get the drop on her. However, a String Shot caught Coballion around the middle and pulled him up suddenly. J's Ariados had stealthily crawled onto the ceiling and ambushed the leader of the Swords of Justice.

At the moment Coballion was hoisted upwards, J ran forward and slid in between Virizion and Keldeo. She fired up at Coballion, petrifying him, and watched as Ariados swung the heavy victim into Keldeo.

Virizion turned to attack, but was blindsided by a Poison Sting attack that knocked her to her knees. Her vision seemed to swim as the poison moved through her body, and she turned to see J's Drapion approaching.

"Leave her alone!" Keldeo shouted as he fired a Focus Blast at Drapion.

The attack blasted Drapion backwards, but then J's Salamance flew up and over the Poison-type, and then fired a Dragon Pulse at Keldeo.

Keldeo reared up and stomped his fore hooves, transforming into his Resolute Form. His Secret Sword came up in the nick of time, and it easily blocked the Dragon-type's attack. Then, Keldeo rocketed forward with Hydro Pump and slashed Salamance with Secret Sword with all his might.

Ariados dropped down at Keldeo, only to be knocked back by Virizion Magical Leaf, although the female Sword of Justice was still weakened by the poison.

With all of J's Pokemon stunned for the moment, Keldeo ran beside Virizion protectively as he looked at the approaching Hunter J with intense anger. Keldeo watched as J raised her arm cannon and aimed it, and from behind, Keldeo could hear Salamance and Drapion starting to get up. But then, a new sound could be heard. It was the most beautiful, melodious sound Keldeo would ever hear, and he knew it well.

Keldeo smiled as he turned to look at Salamance and Drapion. The two enemy Pokemon were in a wide eyed daze, enchanted by Meloetta's singing.

Keldeo nodded and said as he turned back to J, "Now, we can take care of-."

If Virizion hadn't punted Keldeo out of the way, he would have surely been struck by the blast from J's arm cannon. Keldeo looked in shock at Virizion's petrified form, and then looked up at Hunter J in even more shock. Even Meloetta's had stopped singing out of disbelief.

"Are you so much of a moron that you'd think I'd fall for the same trick twice?" J asked scornfully. She then smiled victoriously as she lifted her right arm and fingered a tiny hearing aide like device in her ear. She then whipped her left arm out to her left and fired, turning the invisible Meloetta into a statue in an instant.

Keldeo's eyes blazed with rage, and he let out a loud roar of vengeance as he charged straight at Hunter J with his Secret Sword glowing brightly. J smirked as she looked over at Salamance, who immediately fired a Hyper Beam at Keldeo's back. However, much to everyone's shock, Keldeo stopped and spun around on his fore hooves at the very last second and deflected the Hyper Beam back at Salamance and Drapion with his Secret Sword, and then fired off a few Focus Blasts for good measure.

From behind her visor, J's eyes widened with shock as the multiple blasts knocked out both of her remaining Pokemon.

Keldeo turned to J and said with a cocky grin, "Are you so much of a moron that you'd think a Sword of Justice would allow his emotions to cloud his thinking?"

J shot out blades from her wrists, and Keldeo jumped back to dodge them. He then used Hydro Pump to knock them back at J just as they exploded. Using this as his change, Keldeo charged in, swinging his Secret Sword. However, it was caught by J's second set of wrist blades, and with a quick twist, Keldeo was thrown onto the ground. J then stabbed down with her blades and would have scored the fatal blow if Keldeo hadn't kicked up at her, catching her in the chest. There was a metallic clanging noise as Keldeo's hooves struck J's metal body, and she was knocked back and landed on her feet, but she stumbled a bit.

Flat on his back, Keldeo sprayed Hydro Pump from his hooves to spin around fast, whipping water around the area. J was struck in the body and face several times, just enough to annoy. This was enough for Keldeo to send a powerful gush of water from his hind hooves to rocket across the floor towards Hunter J, and swing his Secret Sword at her left arm.

J roared in pain as her left cybernetic arm, with her cannon, was severed at the forearm. Wires, computer chips, and pieces of servos hung out from where Keldeo left his mark. J quickly swung her right arm at Keldeo and fired her acidic spray at Keldeo's face. The Colt Pokemon quickly closed his eyes and sprayed water on his face, and then rolled over and flipped as he used Double Team to make copies of himself. A small army of 20 Keldeo was now standing before Hunter J, and Keldeo stopped for a moment to catch his breath, and to look for an opening.

J held out her right arm, and fired her wrist blade, which had a cable attached to it. The blade wrapped around Keldeo's horn like a grappling hook, and Keldeo cried out in agony as he was viciously electrocuted. The Double Team copies disappeared, and Keldeo was reeled in back to J, who then grabbed Keldeo by the neck and lifted him up as if he weighed nothing.

Keldeo felt the tip of J's wrist blade on his neck, and kept himself as still as possible, although he looked down defiantly at Hunter J, his face showing no fear.

"I was waiting for you to use Double Team," J said coldly, "I had my visor upgraded so I could take advantage of your sense of safety and security." J smirked as she tightened her grip around Keldeo's throat, "You did feel safe hiding in that Double Team, didn't you? That was a fatal mistake."

J's smile disappeared as she said in a straight, businesslike tone, "Now, before I kill you, and then make plans to give painful deaths to your Legendary friends, tell me, how did you manage to find me so quick and easily? Oh, and, no Focus Blasts, please. My cybernetic body is more than quick enough to send this blade through your jugular vein before you can make a pea sized blast."

Keldeo felt the blade retract from his throat, but J's vice like mechanical grip was still tight. Keldeo looked over and behind J for a brief second, and then he said with a straight face, "They. . . weren't all that busy. . . after they. . . 'murdered' you."

J stared at Keldeo as the realization slowly came to her. Then she noticed how Keldeo was looking up at something behind her, and she turned to see the Lake Trio floating there, giving her a cold, hard stare, with the exception of Uxie, who's eyes were always closed of course.

J's teeth were clenched so hard that it hurt, but the pain didn't seem to register in her enraged mind. A hatred that surpassed all hatred rose within her, seemingly setting her brain on fire. An image of her slashing the three Lake Guardians with carving knife appeared within her mind.

"This battle had a time limit, J," Keldeo said calmly.

J turned back to Keldeo, and was surprised to see that he was smiling.

"Time's up," the Sword of Justice said.

Three Future Sight attacks struck Hunter J in the head, causing her to emit a blood curdling shriek. Her remaining hand clenched a bit more, causing Keldeo to gasp for air and loose consciousness. Then, J's hand opened, dropping Keldeo to the ground in a heap. Then, about two seconds after, Hunter J's body fell back and landed on the ground, lying still, with a roasted brain.

As Azelf and Mespirit flew close to the fallen Sword of Justice, Uxie floated still and called out, "(Okay, Unown. It's safe now.)"

A K Unown floated into the hanger from where it had been hiding outside. It took one sweeping glance over the aftermath of the battle with it's single large eye, and then unleashed a red energy beam out of it's eye. Unown moved its Hidden Power beam across the room, hitting all of the petrified Pokemon and freeing them all in seconds.

"No fair! No fair!" Victini shouted is disappointment, "I wanted to take down the hunter! And I didn't loose! She fouled!"

Meloetta got up and took one look at Keldeo. She gasped and flew by his side, gently stroking his cheek. "(Oh, Kelde . . .what did she do to you?)" she whispered, and she carefully hugged him, "(You'll be alright. You have to be.)"

Azelf nodded and said, "(He will recover. His will is very strong.)"

Meloetta put rested her head on Keldeo chest, and she smiled with relief when he heard Keldeo's heartbeat.

The other three Swords of Justice approached the Lake Trio, and they all bowed as Cobalion said, "Lake Guardians of Sinnoh, we are eternally grateful for your gallant assistance in the defeat of this vile threat to the Pokemon world."

"(It was a pleasure, Swords of Justice,)" Mespirit said with a smile, "(We have not forgotten the incredible cruelty the human showed us, which drove my companions to attempt a killing blow on her. If anything, we should be apologizing for not making sure that she was dead.)"

"(True,)" Azelf said with a solemn nod, "(She caused quite a bit of grief in the Unova region, and harmed many people and Pokemon, including you.)"

"Nonsense," Virizion said quickly, cutting Azelf off before she could continue, "J may have been driven by vengeance for the fate you gave her, but it was not your responsibility to stop her. J's evil, and her final fate, was her own fault."

At that moment, Meleotta's felt Keldeo's body move. "(Kelde?)" she gasped as she turned to the Colt Pokemon as his legs shook and his eyelids squinted. She flew back to give Keldeo room as he lifted himself up about an inch, and then fell back down as his knees buckled.

Terrakion stepped over to Keldeo and said encouragingly, "Come on, kid. Get up."

Keldeo made a second attempt, only to fall flat quicker than before.

"Come on, kid, that's not funny," Terrakion said seriously, "You know you're stronger than that. Get up. Rise."

At that moment, Keldeo forced his eyes open, and pushed himself up on his hooves. He took a deep breath and looked at the smiling faces of Virizion and Terrakion, and the proud grin Cobalion was wearing.

"Good job, Keldeo. Good job," Terrakion said.

Keldeo smiled and nodded, but then looked warily at Hunter J. "Is she. . ." he began cautiously.

"(Nothing whatsoever. An empty shell,)" Mespirit said, "(Her evil is no more)."

Keldeo was suddenly tackled by Meloetta, who hugged him and kissed him on the cheek as she said, "(You did it, Kelde! You're so brave and strong and you don't let anything stop you!)"

Blushing, Keldeo said, "Well, Meloetta, thanks. . .but everyone here fought, even you. I'm not-"

"(But you risked your life and fought J alone!)" Meloetta said as she stopped to look at Keldeo, "(You didn't run, and you fought till the very end! You're a real hero!)"

As Keldeo smiled and admired the enchanting Pokemon before him, Victini suddenly cut in with an enlightened tone, "Ohhh. . . I see."

Keldeo and Meloetta turned to see Victini smiling and nodding.

"I get it now," Victini said with a grin, and he pointed at Keldeo and Meloetta and said, "You two are in love!"

Keldeo's heart pounded as he felt panic rise within him. He turned to look at Meloetta, and saw that she two looked very nervous and extremely shy. She closed her eyes and looked away, her lip trembling slightly. At the sight of this, Keldeo felt something awaken and bloom within his heart, and he soon found himself bowing down in front of Meloetta. Following is heart, Keldeo said, "Meloetta, when I first met you, I was overtaken by how beautiful you were, but now I see that it was more than that. Lots of Pokemon can say that they're beautiful, but you're so much more. It was as if, I could feel you heart and spirit when I first met you. You're everything I could ever want, Meloetta. You're graceful, kind, and sweet. You're also honest, and are able to tell who to trust, and those you do trust you always support. Meloetta, I . . . I love you, and I would be honored to be your warrior champion."

Keldeo chance a glance up, and saw that Meloetta was crying tears of joy. She leaned over and kissed Keldeo long and tenderly, much to Keldeo's heart's delight.

"(I love you too, Kelde,)" she whispered, "(My hero and champion.)"

Victini suddenly flew over to Meloetta's side and said with a sigh and a sad smile, "Aw well. I guess I'll have to settle with being the cooler older brother you look up to. Am I right?"

Keldeo just had to laugh at this. Meloetta seemed flustered a bit, but seeing Keldeo laugh brought a smile to her face, and she giggled along with him.

"What's funny?" Victini said with a straight face.

"(Well, it seems that all is well that ends well,)" Uxie said, "(Now, if you'll excuse us, we have some work to do)."

"Work?" Terrakion asked.

"(I will be using my eyes to wipe the memories of all the Pokemon and people in this place,)" Uxie replied.

"But haven't many of them escaped through other exits by now?" Virizion asked.

Uxie smiled and said, "(We brought more than one Unown.)"

"LET US OUT!" Zero shouted as tired pushing through a large group of grunts and their Pokemon to get to an exit. However, Hidden Power attacks from several Unown kept pushing the group back.

"Once again, we thank you, Lake Guardians," Coballion said with a bow.

"(And we thank you, Swords of Justice,)" Azelf said with a nod.

"And us too!" Victini said as he pointed at him and Meloetta.

"(Of course,)" Azelf said with a warm smile, "(And we wish you a safe and speedy return to the Unova Region.)"

"What an adventure that was!" Keldeo said as the group walked down the beaten mountain path, "After fighting Hunter J, I doubt anything can stop us now!"

"Be careful, Keldeo," Cobalion warned, "Hunter J came very close to besting us, and despite her impressive technology, there are certainly many Pokemon just as strong, and stronger, than her."

Smiling confidently, Keldeo said, "Then we just keep getting stronger together in order to save the day not only in Unova, but all over the world!"

"Personally, I'd rather stay in Unova," Terrakion remarked.

Virizion nodded, "Yes. Let's go home."

From where she rode on Keldeo's back, Meloetta said slowly, "(You know. . . seeing as everything turned out okay, maybe Hunter J's plans were a good thing.)"

Keldeo stopped in his tracks and said with wide eyes, "A good thing? How?"

Meloetta just chuckled and said, "(Because of her. . . we met.)"

The truth of Meloetta's words struck Keldeo deep, and he smiled warmly and said, "Heh. Maybe you're right."

"Let's get moving, Keldeo!" Victini said, "I'm starving so much right now! I don't even care if it's a macaron or not, we need to get something to eat already!"

Keldeo and Meloetta laughed at Victini's antics, and the whole group doubled their pace down the mountain.

And so, once again, the day is saved thanks to the Swords of Justice! But they also had help from other Legendary Pokemon, and from the mysterious Unowns! What new adventures await our heroes in the future? It all remains to be seen, as their never ending journey continues!

NEXT TIME . . . . A NEW ADVENTURE!

"I keep telling you, I have no idea!" Zero shouted, "I have no idea what I was doing there, how I lost my eye, or even how I escaped from prison in the first place!"

Officer Jenny groaned and rubbed her forehead, and she said, "Fine then. I give up. We've been at this for too long. Just. . . stay in your cell this time, I suppose."

Officer Jenny opened the door to the interrogation room, and a pair of guards came in and escorted the very confused Zero out of the room.

Well we don't need a map! We've got our lives to live, so I say we just each follow our very heart and soul
