Well hello everybody! That's right you're not dreaming, after a year I finally decided to put my butt into gear and finish Game On. I guess I finally decided on an ending that I liked! I hope it's not a let down, and I hope that people will read it. It has been a year after all!

Thank you so much to everybody for waiting, now here we go!

Caroline woke up to thousands of raindrops landing on her from above. She and Klaus had fallen asleep on the rooftop wrapped in each other's arms. They were unaware that their beautiful canopy of night sky would turn into a shower. Sitting up she wiped her face clean with the back of her hand. If she was being honest it only felt as though she was moving water around.

Klaus realized that they should take cover before she did. "Bloody hell it's a mess out here." She watched him sniffle in the most adorable way at the new weather predicament. "Come on Love let's go."

She followed him back into the house from the way they came, trying not to slip and fall on her way back down. Sometimes she forgot she was a vampire and even if she did fall it wouldn't matter -she had cat like reflexes. Klaus kept one hand on her at all times, almost like a tether that kept her safe from harm.

Inside was warmer by far, Klaus shut the window behind them as soon as they were safe from the rain. Caroline watched him with eager eyes, the muscles in his back clearly visible underneath his rain soaked henley. She sighed heavily as she observed because all she could think about was why they hadn't had sex yet. "Could have been worse," her comments were simply to stop her lustful longing, "could have been a hurricane."

His laughter was slight but it managed to move his shoulders up if only a moment, "that's true." When Klaus turned around Caroline could no longer see the sexual images flash in her mind -she saw a lost, wet, puppy.

She smiled so bright the sun was envious, "Oh my gosh," stepping towards him she cupped his cheeks, cooing at the beast she'd always known who didn't seem so vicious anymore. "You look like a puppy who came in from the storm." He rolled his eyes but did nothing to stop her. Klaus's hair was limp but still curly, it hung down the left side seeing as he'd pushed it all that way. With his locks out of the way Caroline could see the beauty in his face, his bright eyes, every last line that creased his skin, she loved every part of it. "But it just makes me like you more."

Klaus was surprised by her admission, "puppies are weak Caroline," he only had to move an inch until his forehead rested against hers, "and I'm not weak."

"I don't need you to be so strong all the time. I can take care of myself." She placed a gentle kiss to the corner of his mouth, then his cheek, his nose, before locking eyes with him again. "Besides, the only person I have to fear is you."

He was offended and she knew, his eyebrows sewed together as he studied her facial expression. It revealed to him nothing, "Why? Have I not proven myself?"

Caroline paused for a moment not sure if she should admit her reason, but when she noticed the look of fear on his face she caved. "I'm afraid to lose you, or that you'll break my heart."

He gripped her shoulders so tight she may have lost feeling had she been human, "I would never leave you, you are the best thing to happen to me. If I ever break your heart Caroline," their eyes locked for only a moment but it was enough to see the serious nature in which he was speaking, "you can kill me yourself."

She whispered against his parted lips, feeling herself move towards him agonizingly slow, "I would kill an entire vampire line, including myself." Klaus grinned and his lips grazed hers, electric currents shot through her body without permission. "I'm gonna need you to kiss me now." He wasted no time in following her instructions, running a water soaked hand along her neck to bring her as close as possible to his chest. Caroline could feel her head spinning.

To say that the final competition for the prize was dramatic would be an understatement. Caroline had spent most of the day trying to shake the feelings Klaus always managed to bestow upon her. The light headed-ness, the shortness of breath, the flutter of her heart, they were all distractions she didn't need. Not when the rest of the gang had decided that for the final battle they'd all be in attendance and watch her, Klaus and Elijah battle it out in a game that they all got to pick.

Only Tyler refused to show up but he was never really in the game anyways, Caroline was find with it. So were the rest of the them.

The manor was buzzing with excitement as she entered, an already drunk Kol and Damon were dancing to the radio, each with an open bottle of vodka in their hands. Bonnie was rolling her eyes at them both, secretly smiling all the same. Elena and Katherine were whispering to each other on one of the couches, the former looking mildly annoyed while the latter laughed. Caroline wondered if it had anything to do with Rebekah taking up space on Stefan's lap.

Klaus found her as soon as she walked in, smirking naturally. "Hello Love, ready to lose?"

She shed her jacket, pushing it roughly into his chest, "I don't lose." This was the fact Caroline was most proud of about herself. Not once in all her years, it was one of the only things her father had taught her to do. Klaus took her jacket, flinging it over the back of a nearby arm chair. "You're going down Mikaelson."

Elijah entered the room wearing a nice dark blue suit, potentially a new wardrobe piece. "Hello everybody and welcome to tonight's game. As you know it's the final round-" Katherine let out a huge cheer that was followed by a similar sound from Kol and Damon, "- and I've heard that you've all decided to chose the game in which we play, I'll let Katherine take the reigns now."

The beauty in question leapt from her place on the couch, Caroline noticed Elena's hand drop from her arm as if it had been laying there for awhile. Curious. Katherine didn't notice, or seem to care as she strolled up to take Elijah's place. "Thank you Elijah," she winked, "we've decided as a group that you will all play a classic game, that I'm amazing at for future reference, called beer pong."

Caroline threw her head back in laughter. She was the queen of beer pong. You didn't get to be the head of the cheerleading team, throwing one amazing party after another to be shitty at the most legendary party game of all time. Elijah and Klaus may had been a thousand years old, but their high school party attendance record wasn't very high.

"Since there is three of you, you will draw straws and whoever gets the shortest will sit out for the first round. The winner of said round will then play the person with the short straw and then we'll know who really is the best." Katherine sounded incredibly bitter about not being able to claim the title.

"Wait," Klaus interjected, "if the first two players are drinking as they go then the player sitting out won't be as intoxicated and therefore have an advantage."

"Fair point." Elijah agreed with a nod.

Bonnie offered up a suggestion, "how about every time two beers get taken off the table, the player sitting it out drinks one?"

They seemed to agree it was fair enough and then they began. Katherine pulled out three straws, their lengths hidden from the small group of three. Caroline secretly hoped that she wouldn't be sitting out the first round because she too any opportunities to show off her skills. Luckily she wouldn't have to be. They all opened their palms skyward and came to find that Klaus had drawn the short straw and would not be playing the first round of beer pong.

"Alright! Caroline and Elijah it is." Katherine gestured them to a small table set up in the adjoining kitchen area where the game was waiting patiently. Caroline nearly skipped to her place on the left side of the table, eager to begin. Elijah was looking slightly worried. "Scared Elijah?" Katherine asked.

He licked his lips, "I'm wondering if you could explain the rules just one time to refresh my memory?" Caroline smiled.

With a smooth tone Katherine agreed, "It's simple really, you throw a ping pong ball," she held up a small white one to indicate what she was talking about, "and you try to get it into Caroline's cup. If it lands inside then Caroline has to drink the beer inside the cup. First to clear their opponents cup wins."

Bonnie flipped a quarter in the air to see who went first, Caroline calling heads, it landed on tails. Katherine passed him the ping pong ball. "Good luck you two."

And the game began.

Elijah missed Caroline's cup entirely, he seemed a tad startled by his lack of experience at simply throwing a ball into a cup. Caroline caught the ping pong and with careful precision landed it into Elijah's front cup. "Ha!" She cheered gleefully as the original drank his beer. Next time Elijah managed to snag one of Caroline's but she hardly considered this a setback.

The game went back and forth in this manner for the next ten to fifteen minutes, Elijah missing many more times than Caroline ever did. She felt in her element. War flashbacks to fifteen year old Caroline going head to head with a drunken Connor Larter who had arms too big for his body and a vendetta against any woman who dared challenge his manhood. Caroline took his ego and stomped it into the ground, landing every shot into his cups without even having to drink one herself. This was after consuming two whole bottles of blackberry wine she'd stolen from her mother.

It came down to Elijah's last cup while Caroline still had three, but she'd seen games like these turnaround rather quickly. She had to get the ball in or else it gave him a chance to cause some real damage. "Come on Caroline!" Elena encouraged her, "it'll be just like that time at Sabrina Church's party two years ago!" She nearly gagged at the thought of the alcohol she'd had before winning that game. But Elena was right -she could do this.

Caroline's ball soared through the air and landed directly into Elijah's cup with a small splash of beer traveling up the side of the red solo. "Yes!" She jumped up in excitement that she'd won, feeling her two best friends pull her in for a victory hug.

Though it was short lived when Klaus appeared, rolling up the sleeves of his black henley, "Don't get too excited yet Love." She narrowed her eyes at him, remembering their earlier conversation.

"Why don't you two take some time to prepare while we set up the next round?" Bonnie suggested, her eyes darting between Klaus and Caroline. She liked that suggestion, heading towards the balcony connected to the kitchen. The rest of the group got to work on refilling the empty beer cups so they both had an even amount of ten on their sides.

She leaned against the railing of the balcony, overlooking the vast landscape of garden below. She hadn't taken the Mikaelson's for the type to care about whether their yard looked lush or dead. Though she was happy with their upkeep, a arch made out of roses, a stony path, all surrounded by a beautiful mixture of flowers and shrubbery.

While she admired the sight before her she was imagining what was going on inside the house behind her. Katherine, Elena and Bonnie were probably arguing over how much to put into the cups, Jeremy was ogling Bonnie as she did so which went unnoticed by Kol who was too busy chanting "chug!" at Damon. She was relieved that the games were almost over -really she was- but the sense of togetherness the group of them had she would miss. They'd never been friends, something always looming over them like a dark cloud, but a bond was formed through numerous late nights and countless hours of being drunk that Caroline knew she'd wish she could get back.

Finally she turned around when Elena called her name, "Come on Care!" This is it, she thought, no going back now.

Once again Bonnie flipped the coin but it was Caroline who got to take the first toss this time. "Ready?" She egged him on, her voice daring.

"Of course." Was his snide reply before watching as she landed her first ball into one of his back cups. "Good shot." She smiled wickedly. He returned the favour by sinking it into one of her second row cups, Caroline down the beer and got ready to aim again.

Both of them were charged up with adrenaline and a need to win the game, their fingertips bursting the energy sa they each sailed the ping pong through the air and prayed it hit its target. So far they'd only missed a few times each, but neither let that set them back. Their audience was at the edge of their seats, biting their nails, eyes following every precise movement the players made until it was down to one up each.

This was the moment they had all been waiting for, to know who was the most powerful of them all. The person with the ability to have control over all of them. Either Klaus or Caroline would be declared the person who held the power to control anybody they wanted for an entire day with one simple move in beer pong.

Caroline was the first to throw, she pinpointed where she wanted her ball to land and with a little prayer she made her move. Watching with heart palpitations as the ball landed on the rim of the cup and bounced onto the table. Her chest felt empty, Elena let out a small gasp. "Well, well, well." Was all katherine could add, the queen of commentary was virtually speechless. If Klaus got his ball into her cup then she would lose. Caroline Forbes would lose. She could hear her father reprimanding her inside of her mind already.

Klaus picked up the small white ball and with minimal effort threw it directly into the beer sitting before Caroline. "No!" She blurted out as she watched the ripples form through the golden liquid.

"Klaus wins the game!" Katherine yelled but nobody was very shocked. There were various claps, none of them particularly happy. "Well boys and girls this has been quite the time, I'm sure we'd all like to go home now, but-" she paused for dramatic effect, "we need to know who Klaus is choosing to control for a whole day tomorrow."

The choice was obvious to all of them before he even said it, Caroline. She sighed heavily upon hearing it, despite knowing it was coming.

Stefan wrapped an arm over Rebekah's shoulders, "Glad that's over with." The Original agreed as they began to walk towards the grand staircase of the Mikaelson manor.

Each guest began to leave, picking up their belongings on their way towards the door. Elena and Bonnie hugged a sorrowful Caroline in the midst of her wallowing, but they too headed for home. It was only Kol and Damon that didn't seem too concerned about the actual events, singing an old Celtic drinking song as they stumbled their way to the door.

Eventually it was Klaus and Caroline left by the table, the blond girl in disbelief and Klaus unsure how to handle the situation. "I'm sorry you lost."

She shook her head, "Don't." Caroline couldn't be mad at her boyfriend for winning, that would be insane. The real issue came from her loss, because it wasn't something she was used to going through. Instead of explaining this to Klaus she merely looked at him and told him that she'd see him tomorrow. "I'll report for duty around lunch." He didn't try to stop her as she was leaving.

Caroline woke up with the faint taste of beer in her mouth and she wondered what the game would be that night. Until she realized that the whole thing was over, there would be no game. Then the beer tasted like bittersweet memories on her tongue. So she laid there, eye glued to the ceiling, unable to sleep knowing that in four hours she would have to do Klaus's bidding for a whole day. She didn't know what he would make her do but it made her stomach squirm. Maybe she'd have to wear a skimpy outfit and feed him blood all day, or pose nude for some drawing he wanted to do. Either way, she imagined that his idea of a good time involved Caroline in little to no clothing.

After laying in bed for an half hour Caroline thought she heard a faint knock on her door. She scrambled to dress herself in something that wasn't too revealing and rushed to the front door.

It was Elena.

"Hey," her voice was surprised without her consent, "what's up?"

The brunette was twiddling her thumbs almost as if she wasn't sure how to approach her long time friend. Was it because she come lost? "Hey Care," a small smile graced her features, but Caroline didn't believe in it. "Can I talk to you about something?"

Allowing Elena to enter the house she widened the door and brushed her arm through the air, "Be my guest." The other girl once again gave her a half-hearted grin as she walked by. Caroline shut the door behind her, following her friend into the living room.

Luckily Liz was at work so Caroline didn't have to worry about her interrupting them. She sat on the couch, patting the cushion beside her enthusiastically. "Have a seat!" Elena did. "So what's wrong?"

She inhaled a deep breath and Caroline watched the wheels of her brain turning to try and figure out where to start her story. Caroline wasn't sure what the whole situation was about but she was itching to know, it had to do with the cell phone and the strange cryptic secret Stefan seemed to know all about. "Elena you can tell me anything," she gently touched her friend's knee, "you know that right?"

The other girl nodded, "I know I just think I've done something crazy and strange, I don't want people to think less of me." Caroline thought of Klaus, she feared the same treatment. "What would you say if I got involved with somebody that was kind of … wrong?"

That definitely caught the blonde's attention, "Wrong?" Who was Elena tangoing with that made her so scared to tell her friends. It couldn't have been Damon, they'd already had that argument. "Is it Elijah?"

Elena's eyes widened, "No!" Then who the hell is it? She sighed once again, "Somehow, for some reason this … thing, just happened and I'm not really sure what it is but I don't feel like hiding it." Caroline raised an eyebrow. "It's Katherine." That made her jaw drop, Elena's evil doppleganger was the last person that she had expected. Caroline had never thought of Elena as bisexual -not that it mattered- but she was a tad bit shocked. She felt a little hurt and betrayed since Katherine had killed her, but then Klaus's voice rang in the back of her mind I killed Elena, might I remind you, and she had to let her anger fizzle. "Say something?"

Caroline licked her lips, "I support you." She decided, what else could she do? "And I should let you know that I'm kind of dating Klaus."

Widening her eyes Elena said, "Wow, okay," laughter began to form from her lips, "and Bonnie's kind of with Kol." Caroline stared at her for only a moment before she joined the other girl in a fit of giggles. The lives that they had known, the loves they'd once been so comfortable in had been thrown around and tossed aside completely. It was hilarious.

"Life is so weird." That, they both agreed on.

Caroline arrived at the Mikaelson manor around quarter to eleven, it felt strange not walking into a living room full of people and bottles of vodka. Just impeccably decorated rooms streaming with sunlight, which was ironic if you asked her. She walked in without knocking, heels clicking against the hardwood floor and echoing for miles. For a moment she wondered if anybody was home. "Klaus?" She called out, "Hello?"

He appeared as if from thin air behind her, "Hello Caroline." She jumped when he spoke, a smooth smile crawling along his face.

"Don't do that!" She insisted, swatting at him with her left hand.

Holding up a slender finger he waggled it, "Now, now it's my day to tell you what to do." She rolled her eyes, but it was the truth. She couldn't force him to do anything since he'd won fair and square. Caroline really hated losing.

She raised her hands in defeat, "Fine, Klaus, what would you like me to do today?" Even though their relationship had been changed forever by the game's, Caroline wasn't above treating him with the usual amount of snark.

Klaus's hands were behind his back, he looked positively giddy with all the possibilities forming inside of his head. "Well Love," he took a step towards her, she took in a breath, "all that I want you to do today, is tell me what you want to do."

At first she wasn't sure that she'd heard him correctly, her head titled to the side as his words began to sink in. "What?"

His hands moved from behind him to grab her shoulders, lowering his face to hers he clarified, "You get to tell me what to do all day," Caroline was speechless, "because ever since the beginning they were right. I can control the world if I so wished and sometimes I do," she noticed that he didn't sound cocky, he just sounded like he was speaking facts, "but you Caroline, you have always had a grip on me that I cannot understand and no game of beer pong is going to decide whether that's the truth or not. I know it is. So what would you like to do today?"

Her heart felt like it was beating a million miles an hour, Klaus was admitting that she was his weakness. Her, this little, insecure, neurotic girl who had no real idea of what she was going to do with the rest of her life but pretended she did, was Klaus Mikaelson's weakness. Part of her had always known that she had him wrapped around her finger, but now he was telling her point blank it was the truth. She wasn't going to have to dress up in some skimpy outfit or feed him blood, she could do what she wanted.

Caroline smiled at him brightly, she loved him. She loved that dumb dimpled grin and those tousled curls, she love his dumb henleys and necklaces, she loved that he was terrifying to everybody but her, she loved him. And then Caroline knew what she wanted to do.

"I want to go to dinner just you and me at the Grill, where everybody can see us as we pretend to eat food that we kind of like instead of wishing we were drinking blood." Caroline grinned, Klaus appeared surprised. "Because I don't want to be ashamed of us, or scared of what people think."

He considered her offer for a hesitant second, "Then lead the way."

-o-

They took a table near the the center of the room, most people not used to seeing Klaus actually sitting down for food instead of heading straight towards the bar. Caroline noted that they'd have to talk about his alcoholism another time. He ordered them a bottle of wine and she ordered them nachos.

Picking up the glass he raised it towards her own, "to us." She returned the gesture, watching the smile on his face brighten the whole room.

From the corner of her eye Caroline caught sight of a very happy Rebekah sharing a drink with Stefan, laughing as he told her a story with her arm laced through his own. On the other side of the booth was Kol and Bonnie, who were so immersed in each other's gaze they hardly noticed the other couple. The tinkling of bells dragged her attention towards the door and that's when Katherine and Elena walked through, they were bickering about something until Katherine grabbed Elena's cheek and planted a kiss upon the opposite one, stunning Elena for a moment. Caroline wondered how they'd explain the two of them being complete duplicates of each other to the town, but for the time being it didn't seem to matter.

When Caroline looked back to Klaus his eyes were following hers, filled with happiness at what he saw before him. She rubbed a thumb over the back of his hand and he looked at her, Caroline knew in that moment she he didn't have to say it but he loved her.

Sure the games were over, but they were never really done. Not really.

The end! Thank you all so much again! Let me know what you thought of the ending!

Keep your heads up klaroline fam, we'll win this thing in the end!
