(The Kamiya Residence)
Kari was standing in front of the door leading towards the balcony, the curtain slightly open to allow her to look outside. She was staring towards the island that Tai and Agumon had returned from, though without Gatomon, Wizardmon, Shadow and Veemon. "Gatomon..." Kari thought, clearly worried about her partner.
"Kari, you should try to get some sleep. It's not good to be up so late." Tai said, sitting up on his bed with Agumon next to him. After the two had gotten back, he had told Kari what had on the island, and needless to say; Kari had reacted badly over hearing that Gatomon and Veemon had been captured, and that Wizardmon had been killed by Myotismon. The older boy could understand why his little sister was up; but knew that there wasn't anything they could do at the moment.
Kari turned her head slightly; to look at hear brother. "I know, but I..." She started, before she stopped and looked at the ground.
Agumon then peeked his head out from lower bunk bed. "Besides, I'm sure Gatomon wouldn't want you up all night worrying. She would want you rested for when you see each other again!" Agumon said.
Tai looked at Agumon and chuckled lightly, glad that his partner was trying to help him out. The bearer of Courage then turned back to his sister. "Kari, I understand they your worried about the others, but their nothing we can do right now. Will go looking for Gatomon and the others together tomorrow, I promise." Tai stated, giving his little sister a reassuring smile.
Kari looked at her brother, and then switched her gaze back to the island one final time before reluctantly listening to her brother and walking back to her bed. Climbing up the small ladder, she laid down and pulled the blanket over her body. "Everything's gonna be alright, right Tai?" Kari asked, turning on her side.
Tai, who was looking at his Digivice in his right hand, just stared at the device as it read the current time. "Yeah, I promise just leave it all to me, 'kay." He said, getting a small 'okay' from Kari.
The room was then filled with silence, neither sibling nor Agumon speaking a single word. Kari, who was about to try and fall asleep, turned onto her right side and saw a pair of goggles with square lenses resting beside her. The sight of the goggles cause Kari to remember something, or rather someone in particular. "Hey Tai." Kari said, pulling her blanket closer.
"Yeah Kari?" Tai asked, thinking that maybe his sister was still worried about Gatomon.
"Do you think Davis is okay?" Kari's question caused Tai's body to freeze, with Agumon eyes widening when he heard. "What... do you mean, if Davis is okay?" Tai asked, trying to keep his voice calm.
"It's just that; when you were gone, I heard something break and when I checked on it, I saw it was the picture of Davis and I together but there was crack on it that went across Davis's face." Kari explained, a worried expression on her face. "I don't know why, but I think something might of happen to him."
Tai and Agumon looked at one another, not sure how to respond to what Kari said. The duo quickly recalled how they had told Kari about what happened on the island with Myotismon, but the girl was quick to realize that they hadn't mention what had happened to Shadow and asked we're he was when it happened. Tai, not wanting to tell her the truth about had happen, had made up a lie that Shadow had been knocked out during the fight, and had woken up after everything had happen before going off to look for Myotismon. Kari had fortunately bought the lie, and though he hated to lie to her it look like he was gonna have to again.
"I'm sure he's fine Kari, you know Davis. He always bounces back; no matter what." Tai said.
Kari just continued to stare at the goggles; before reaching out and grabbing a hold of them, hugging the item close to her chest. "I hope so." She muttered, closing her eyes.
Regret and anger filled Tai as he continued to stare at his Digivice, clutching it tightly in his hand as he remembered what had happened on the island. The sight of Davis being electrocuted and falling into the Bay, while he and Agumon could do nothing to help him just infuriated him, and he could imagine that Kari would be devastated if she found out. Agumon just stared at his partner in sadness. "Tai." Agumon whispered.
"Davis; you better be alive you hear me." Tai whispered softly, before a certain vampire appeared in his mind. "And just you wait Myotismon, cause your gonna pay for what you did!"
(Odaiba, 1:30 am)
Qrow just let out a yawn as he rested on a bus stop bench, reaching for his flask from inside of his jacket. The man had been searching for his missing son for quite sometimes, checking multiple alleyways and asking anyone who were still on the streets if they had seen him, using a picture he carried in his pocket. Unfortunately, his efforts haven't bared much fruit as all the leads he had gotten all ended up being dead ends.
Qrow pulled his flask out, opened it and began to drink down the contents in rapid succession. After taking down about half the flask's contents, Qrow stopped and let out another sigh, closing the container and placing it back in his jacket. The man leaned back on the bench, his eyes closing as began to think about his son. "Davis..., where are you?" Qrow questioned, placing a hand on his face.
"Alright Qrow, let's take a moment and think about where you son could have gone." Qrow muttered, speaking to himself. "The black box that he had in his closet that had some money was gone, so obviously he took it which means he could have taken either a train or a bus. Probably be better to check the trains first, might be able get the staff to let me see security feed."
Getting off the bench, the spiky haired man began to make his way to the nearest train station and as he walked, his mind began to drift back to when he and Rei had learned Davis had went missing and he began to come to a realization. "Now that I got a moment to think about it, how could Davis have gotten out of the house so quickly. Only ten minutes had passed between his fight with Jin and him going missing and not to mention that we live on the 15th floor, so there's no way he could have gotten out the house without using the front door." Qrow thought, his eyes narrowing. "None of this make any sense, how could he have gotten out of the house without anyone knowing."
"Help! Someone help us!" The sudden sound of a cry for help; shook Qrow out of his thoughts and made him raise his head as the distressed voice was coming from father up the road. "What the hell?" Qrow muttered, before breaking into a sprint. "Hey hold on, I'm coming!"
Qrow raced down the street in the direction of where the voice where coming from, along the way he began hearing more voices with some sound like other people, and some not so much. He noticed that there was also a fog around the street, which made everything ahead look rather blurry. Eventually, Qrow could see the outline of a car up ahead and a group of people, but once got there he was greeted with a sight of something he was not expecting. "The Hell?" He muttered, his eyes widening at what he saw.
Qrow found himself staring at a group of yellow frog-like creatures, with orange fur and black saw-like spikes on their backs attacking the group he had been rushing too. As he stared at them, one of the creatures happened to notice Qrow standing there. "Another human, will catching you just like all the rest!" The creature shouted, pouncing forward.
Qrow, seeing the creature pouncing at him, dodge the attack by rolling out of its path. Quickly getting back to his feet, Qrow looked around for something to fend off whatever these things were. After a few seconds, he saw a metal pipe laying a few feet away from and he quickly rushed towards it, grabbing it once he was close enough. Noticing another creature pouncing at him from his side; Qrow swung the pipe and nailed the creature dead on, sending it straight into the bay. "Oh yeah, this will work." Qrow said, looking at the pipe.
"Get off me!" Qrow looked to his right and saw a group of the creatures ganging up on man and quickly rushed forward, swinging the pipe around to send any of the creatures that tried to attack him. When he reaches the creature group; he reeled the pipe back and swung the pipe with all his strength, sending all the creatures fly off the man they had been attacking. "Hey, you okay?!" Qrow said, holding his hand out.
Feeling his hand being grabbed, Qrow quickly pulled the man onto his feet. "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you." He said, looking up at Qrow.
The sound of screaming caused the two men to see the rest of the group of people, being dragged away by the creatures into the fog. "No, let them go!" The man shouted.
Before he could get far, Qrow grabbed the man by his shoulder to prevent him from following. "What are you doing, I have to help them!" The man said, turning to Qrow with a glare.
"How are you gonna help them, without getting caught yourself?!" Qrow said, staring back at the man. "We have to get out of here now, before those things catch us!"
The man looked back to the fog for a moment; before turning to Qrow and nodding his head. The two men then began to run in the opposite direction of the creatures, who noticed the two as they ran. "Don't let those humans get away!" One of them shouted, running after the humans with more following behind.
"Damnit, those things are coming after us!" The man said, looking towards Qrow. "Hey, how are we gonna lose them?!"
Qrow around as he ran, cursing the fog for obscuring his vision as he could barely see anything. Eventually, something caught his attention that caused him to reach his hand back and grabbed the other man by his wrist. "This way!" He said, pulling the man into an alleyway.
The creatures saw the two men heading into the alleyway and quickly followed them, having no intent on allowing any humans to escape. When the creatures arrived at the alleyway entrance however, they found no sign of two humans as the only thing that were in alley was a blue dumpster.
"Hey, where did they go!"
"How should I know idiot!"
"Well what do we now?"
"Forget about them for now, one of the other groups will probably get them! For now we need to get keep collecting humans for Lord Myotismon!" The creatures quickly ran past the dumpster and through the alleyway, growing quieter and quieter as they did until they could no longer be heard.
"Okay, there gone." The lid of the dumper was pushed open to reveal both Qrow and the other man, with the former quickly climbed out of it while wiping off anything that got on his clothes. "Good thing to, cause that smell is not something I wish to stand anymore."
"How did you know this was here anyway?" The man from before asked, climbing out as well.
"There's a bar around here that I come to on occasion, so I remember this alleyway and the dumpster that's in it." Qrow explained, as the lack of fog allow him to see the man's face more clearly. "Hey wait, aren't you Hiroaki Ishida? The reporter for Fuji TV?"
The man nodded at Qrow's question. "Yeah that's me, again thanks for the help back there." Hiroaki said, holding out his hand out. "What's your name?"
Qrow reached his own hand out and shook Hiroaki's. "You can call me Qrow, with a q instead of a c." He said.
"Like the bird?" Hiroaki asked.
Qrow nodded in confirmation before letting go of Hiroaki's hand, with his gaze turning in the direction the creatures had gone. "So why were those..., things attacking you anyway?"
Hiroaki walked over to the wall and squatted down, his back against the wall for balance. "To be honest I have no idea, because they just showed up out of nowhere and attacked. All I know is that they were saying that they were going around the city, something about collecting all the people in Odaiba."
Qrow looked toward where the creatures had gone, his eyes widening in realization. "Wait, if there collecting humans around the city then that means...!" Qrow quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, dialing a number and held the phone to his ear.
"BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!"
"What the hell!?" Qrow said, pulling the phone away from his ear. "No serves?!"
"Don't bother using your phone, won't work." Hiroaki voice caused Qrow to turn to the man in confusion. "Everything electronic in the city's gone dead. Radio, satellite feed, transmitter and communication, none of it's working." Hiroaki said, getting to his feet. "My friends and I were investigating it, trying to figure out what's going on. We found out that it was due to the fog which is only appearing in this part of the city, but before we could do anything else those creatures attacked up."
Qrow placed a hand on his head, his teeth grinding against one another due to what Hiroaki said. "So, phones are basically useless and I'm guessing that we can't leave the district, cause those things will probably stop us." Qrow spoke out loud, looking towards the street. "I have to get back home and move my family somewhere safe before those things get to them."
"I was thinking the same thing. I have to get to my son." Hiroaki said, getting to his feet.
"Hey listen." Qrow walked over to Hiroaki and reached into his jacket, pulling out a poster with Davis's face on it. "I know we just met, but can you do me a favor? This is my son Davis; he went missing about 2 days ago. Our family had a bad argument and he ran away from home, that's why I'm out this late." Qrow said, holding the poster out to Hiroaki. "If you happen while you're getting back to your place, could you get off the streets and put him somewhere safe. Please?"
Hiroaki looked at Qrow for a moment before nodding his head, taking the poster from the raven-haired male. "If I see him, he'll be in the area around the Fuji TV station with my son!" He exclaimed, folding the poster and putting it into his coat pocket. "Once you get your family, head over to Ocean City construction site as fast as you can alright?"
Qrow nodded, a grateful expression on his face as looked at Hiroaki. "Thank you." He said.
Qrow then walked over to the dumpster and reached both his hands inside, rummaging through the garbage for a moment before pulling out two items. One was the pipe he used earlier, while the other was an old rusted crowbar. He walked back to Hiroaki and held out the crowbar to the man. "Take this. You're gonna need something to defend yourself against those things."
"No kidding." Hiroaki said, taking the crowbar. "Good luck, Qrow."
"You too." Qrow said.
Both men walked over to the entrance of the alleyway; taking a moment to make sure that there weren't any more creatures around, before they each took off sprinting towards their intended destinations, Qrow going right and Hiroaki going left. Qrow looked back for moment at Hiroaki fading form, before refocusing his sight forward as he ran back home. As he ran, thoughts of Davis being chased by those creatures, surrounded and captured by them filled Qrow's mind, causing the raven-haired man to grit his teeth as he increased his running speed.
"Stay safe Davis, please! I promise I gonna find you, so just hold out a little longer!" Qrow thought, his hands turning into tight fist.
The raven-haired man faded into the fog as he ran, hoping that his son was alright as raced to protect the rest of his family.

"...Where..."
"Where... am I?"
A figure could be seen floating in the middle of a grey void, his eyes closed as he seemed to be in a peaceful sleep, but reality he was awake but could not open his eyes; nor could he move his body. All he could do was float in the void.
"It doesn't seem like he remembers them yet, also don't think he remembers anything from before either. I guess that's a good sign."
A male voice filled the figure's ear, causing him to wonder who it was speaking.
"That still does not explain how we've awoken. We should still be in slumber now, so what is the caused that has allowed us to return here?"
The appearance of a second voice rang through his ear, another male who seemed to be conversing with the first voice.
"Something bad must of happen, it's the only thing that makes sense. Through regardless of the circumstances, we're here and we got a job to do. So, let's get to it."
Another, a third male voice appeared, and it talk to the two others, but this caused the figure to question something. Who were these voices? What was this job that they need to do, and how did it involve him? Before he could dwell on this further, he felt three hands on his back before he was pushed upwards, and as this was happening the three voices spoken again in unison.
"It's time for you to wake up now..."

(Tokyo bay, 9 AM)
The sound of a someone calling his name caused Davis's eyes to snap open, the young child's body being filled with a sudden burst of energy as he pulled himself into a sitting position. For a moment the boy did nothing, before quickly noticing that his vision was very blurry, and his body felt both heavy and floaty at the same time. "What's going on?" He wondered, in confusion. When he attempted to breath however, his eyes widen immediately when he felt liquid enter his mouth and he realized what was going on.
"I'M UNDERWATER!" The realization caused Davis to quickly push the water out of his mouth, before taking off quickly towards the surface. He swam with great speed, his lungs in desperate need of air grew as the distance between him and the surface shorten, growing narrower and narrower until finally...
"SPLASH!" "GASP!" Davis's head broke through the water surface, the boy taking a great breath of air as he then began coughing; any residual water that had entered his body being spat out as he did so. After a few moments; Davis opened his eyes and looked around at his surrounding, taking noticing of a fog surrounding him as he floated in the water. "What's with this fog?" He questioned, as he continued looking around.
After a moment of two; Davis caught sight of beach only a bit away from him and swiftly began to swim towards it, wanting to get out of the water and onto solid land. He made it to shallow water and crawled onto the sandy beach, flopping onto his back and just laid on the sand. Deep breaths entered and left his lungs, before the young boy pulled himself into a sitting position. "How the heck did I end up in the river, the last thing I remember was fighting Myotismon and..."
"Veemon!" Davis eyes widen, memories of what had happen the previous night filling his mind, Wizardmon's apparent death and him being electrocuted by fang-face himself. Seeing that his partner was missing, that could only mean that Veemon had been captured by Myotismon, and that means Gatomon had also been captured too. He also took notice that there were many Digimon energy around the entire city, which wasn't a good sign.
"He must be looking for Kari, that must the reason behind the fog. He's trying to prevent anyone from coming into the city." Davis muttered, closing his eyes for a moment. After a few seconds, he opened his eyes again and grit his teeth. "Damn it, I can't zone in on Kari. I must be more tired than I thought." He muttered.
Davis lifted his lower body, drawing his leg into his chest and used his hands to launch himself upwards, land on his feet in a squatting position. He straightens into a standing position before turn towards the city. "I gotta find Veemon and Gatomon. I can let Myotismon find Kari, cause if he does, he'll..." Davis simply shook his head to rid himself of those thoughts. There was not time to dwell on those kinds of throughs, it was time for action to be taken.
A golden glow surrounded Davis before his body disappeared into thin air, leaving nothing but a wet pile of sand in his place. His mission was clear, find his partner and prevent Myotismon from reaching his friend.
(Elsewhere: 9:10 am)
A pair of Bakemon could be seen resting on a sidewalk rail, an expression of exhaustion on their faces. "Man, searching for any human that are hiding is so hard." Bakemon-A said, whipping his face. "Not to mentions tiring."
"Hey." Bakemon-B said, turning to Bakemon-A.
"Yeah." Bakemon-A asked.
Bakemon-B turned his gaze towards the foggy sky. "You ever wonder why where here?" He questioned.
Bakemon-A turned his gaze towards to the sky. "Sometimes, like are we the product of some great god with some kind of purpose, or just pieces that are in a war that's beyond are understanding?" Bakemon-A questioned, turning to Bakemon-B. "I don't really know friend, but it keeps me up sometimes."
The two Bakemon kept their gazes on one another, neither speaking. "...What?" Bakemon-B asked, with a confused expression. "No, I mean, why did we join this mission to come to the human world with Myotismon? We could've just stayed home where it's better."
"Oh... yeah, right." Bakemon-A said, speaking in an embarrassed tone while looking away.
"What was that crap about god?" Bakemon-B questioned.
"Oh... hm? Nothing, yeah nothing." Bakemon-A said.
"...Wanna talk about it?"
"No."
"You sure?"
"...Yeah."
"NOW!" Before the two Bakemon could react; they were ambushed by Tai and Agumon, who had managed to sneak behind the two ghost Digimon while they talked. Tackling them to the ground, the duo began to beatdown on the Bakemon. "Alright ya creeps, where did you take all people?!" Tai shouted, landing a right hook on one of them; while Agumon let out a warcry.
"Tai!" The sound of his voice being called made both Tai and Agumon stop attacking the Bakemon, and the former looked up to see Birdramon flying towards them, with Sora hanging off her leg. "Sora!" Tai called out, with both he and Agumon being relieved that friends were okay. However, the two were distracted long enough for the Bakemon to collect themselves and runaway, with Tai noticing as they did. "Hey wait!" He shouted, but the Bakemon were already long gone.
"Tai, the Big Sight Center! Myotismon is holding everyone in the city there!" Sora shouted, as Birdramon began to descend.
"The Big Sight?!" Tai muttered, looking towards Sora.
Once Birdramon was close enough to the ground, Sora let go of her leg and landed in front of Tai and Agumon. Momentarily turning her head to the ground and placing a hand on her chest to get her breath back, Sora looked at Tai with a worried expression. "Yeah, he's got the entire district there." Sora said, looking down. "Mimi's there too... along with your parents."
Tai's eyes widen for a moment, before they became narrowing and gritted his teeth. "I'm really getting sick of this creep." He muttered, before turning back to Sora. "Sora, you should go get Matt and Gabumon! Kari's with them at Aqua City!"
Sora nodded in agreement. "Alright." She said, before a thought came to her mind. "Wait Tai, is Davis and Veemon with them too? Or are they going to the Big Sight Center as well?"
The moment the questioned left her mouth; Sora saw Tai and Agumon body stiffen, along with the former's hands turning into tight fist as he looked at the ground. The action causes the redhead eyes to widen in realization. "Tai... what happened?" She asked, taking a step forward. "Where's Davis and Veemon?"
Tai just continue to stare at the ground, before turning his back to Sora. "...I don't know. He tried to help get back the tag from Myotismon, but he overpowered them. Veemon got taken and Davis..." Tai paused for a moment, the memory of what happened last night replaying is mind. "Davis was electrocuted by Myotismon until he fell unconscious... and fell into the bay."
Sora gasped softly as she raised a shaky hand to her mouth, unable to believe what she was hearing. "Y-You mean he's...?" She stuttered out, not wanting to finish her sentence.
"No, he's not!" Tai shouted, causing Sora to take a step back. "Davis is alive, he isn't dead! I don't know how I know, but I just do!"
Sora simply continue to stare at Tai before nodding. "Alright, I believe you." She said.
Turning his head to look at Sora for a moment, Tai nodded at her. "Get to Aqua city and meet up with Matt and Gabumon." Tai said, before turning to Agumon. "Let's get going Agumon!"
"Right!" Agumon shouted, raising his arm up.
Both Tai and Agumon broke into a sprint as they rushed towards the Big Sight Center, with Sora watching for a moment before rushing to Birdramon. After jumping onto her partner's leg, Birdramon took off into the air and began to make her way with Sora guidance. Unknown to the two however, a shadow began to rise from the ground before morphing into the shape of Phantomon. The ghost-like Digimon let out a soft, malevolent chuckle as he stared at Birdramon before following the two.
(Aqua City, 9:20 am)
"Do you think Tai and Agumon are gonna be okay?" Matt snapped out of his daze due to hearing Kari question, having been staring at his Digivice to keep an eye on how much time as. With his back against a metal crate, the blond-haired teen turned towards the younger girl; who was sitting on a sack, looking down at the ground with a sad expression on her face. Matt placed a hand on his neck and look up at the ceiling.
"I'm sure their fine Kari. I mean you know your brother; he can take care of himself and besides, he's got Agumon with him if something happens." Matt said, trying to provide some form of comfort.
Matt's attempt of comfort however, only caused Kari to wrap her arms around her legs and hugged them to her chest, her face being buried into her knees. Gabumon, who was standing beside Matt and watching the scene silently, turned to his partner and placed a hand on leg. "Come on Matt, do something!" He urged, whispering softly while pointing towards Kari. "We can't just leave her depressed like this."
Matt just let out a sigh and placed his hands behind his back, with the boy's gaze shifting towards the brown-haired little girl. When he did, he took notice of something familiar resting on top of her head, that he hadn't notice until now. "Kari, did Tai give you those goggles?" He asked, while wondering why they looked familiar.
Kari raised her head up at Matt's question, placing one of her hands on the goggles atop her head. "No, it wasn't him." She said softly. "My friend Davis, gave them to me as a good luck charm."
While listening to Kari's answer to his question, one particular part of it caught Matt attention. "Davis?" He questioned.
(Flashback: The previous night)
"My brother name is Daisuke Motomiya, but we call him Davis as a sort of nickname." Both Matt, Jun and Gabumon were walking in the streets after leaving the train station, making their way to the female's apartment complex. They had finished dropping off TK a little while ago, and luckily since there was now even less people out at the time, so they were able to have Gabumon walk in the open without having to hide him.
Jun had just finished explaining what had happen between her, her parents and her brother, with the blond-haired teen placing one of his hands on his head; a shocked expression on his face. "Man, that sounds pretty rough." He muttered, turning to Jun. "I mean no offense Jun, but from how you explained everything, it really does sound like you and your parents were treating him poorly."
Jun simply turned his head to the ground in shame. "You're right about that, we treated him horribly." She said, letting out a sigh. "I have to find him and tell him I'm sorry, regardless if he hates me. I must let him know that.
"Don't worry Jun, I'm sure everything will be alright." Gabumon said, looking up at the girl. "If you're sorry, then I'm sure that your brother will understand and forgive you and your parents. So, try to stay positive."
Turning her head towards the Digimon, Jun gave Gabumon a small smile. "Thank you Gabumon, for saying that." Jun said, before chuckling softly. "Ya know, if someone had told me I would meet two brothers with talking animals and nearly die from a vampire all in the same day, I would have thought they were really crazy."
The trio broke off into soft laughter as they walked, the atmosphere around them being a pleasant one. After a bit more walking, Jun came to a stop as she saw the apartment complex she lived in sight and turned to Matt and Gabumon. "This is far enough; I can see the complex from here so I can go the rest of the way alone." She said, giving the two a warm smile. "Thanks again, for walking with me and listening."
Matt simply nodded, wearing a small smile of his own. "No problem." He said, before a thought came to mind. "Hey Jun, you got any more of those posters you were putting around?"
Jun nodded, reaching into her sweater and pulling out one of the posters. "You want it?" She asked, looking at the blond.
"Yeah, that way if I see your brother, I can tell him that you and your parents are looking for him." Matt exclaimed.
Jun just stared at Matt before taking a step forward and embraced him, catching the blond completely off guard. "Thank you, Matt. For helping me." She said, smiling as small tears appeared in her eyes.
Matt, who was still in shock over Jun's action; didn't really know what to do now, so he settled for simply placing a hand on her back and nodding his head. "Your welcome." He said.
After about a minute, Jun let go of Matt and handed the poster over to him, which the male teen placed into his back pocket. The crimson haired girl then turned around and broke off into a sprint towards her apartment complex, with Matt and Gabumon watching as she ran. "Well she seems like a nice person. I hope things work out for her and her family." Gabumon said, looking up at Matt.
The bearer of Friendship nodded in agreement. "Yeah, me too." He said, before turning around. "Come on Gabumon, let's go home."
The wolf Digimon nodded and the duo began to make their way back towards the train station, ready to get some rest after the night they had.
(Flashback end)
"Could it be...?" Matt though, before turning to Kari. "Hey Kari."
"Yes?" Kari asked.
Matt began to reach into his back pocket with his left hand, all while keeping his gaze on Kari. "You friend, Davis. His full name wouldn't happen to be, Daisuke Motomiya would it?" He asked, pulling the paper out from his pocket.
Kari's eyes widen as she stood up and walked up to Matt. "Yes, it is." She said, looking up at the blond. "Do you know him?"
For a moment Matt hesitated, a realization occurring to him at what he was about to do. "If I tell her that her friends missing, she'll probably be even more worried then she already is." He thought, clutching the poster in his hand.
"Matt?" Kari asked, noticing the worried look on his face.
The blond-haired male snapped out of stupor and returned his gaze to Kari. "Oh yeah, um. No, I don't know Davis personally, but I do know his sister." He said, looking to the side.
"You mean Jun, right?" Kari asked, before putting her hands on the goggles. "I hope they're both okay, especially cause I'm worried about Davis. He's been acting really off lately, so I hope he's okay."
Matt simply placed a hand on Kari's shoulder. "I'm, sure he's fine Kari." He said, smiling softly.
"Yeah don't worry, everything's gonna be fine so stay positive." Gabumon said, also smiling.
Kari looked at the two before nodding, though she still couldn't shake the feeling of fear when thinking about Davis. She also remembered what had happened last night with the picture, which just made her feel even more worried. "I hope so." She said, softly.
Both Matt and Gabumon looked at one another, the duo of Friendship glancing at one another as worried expressions appeared on their faces. Neither of the two could bring themselves to tell the girl that her friend was missing, and simply settled for remaining quiet. The blond looked towards the entrance of the construction site, one thing going through his head.
"Tai, I hope you get back here fast. Cause I'm gonna need your help when I tell Kari the truth."
(Big Sight Center: 9:20)
"It's not her."
"It's not him."
"It's not her." Gatomon was standing in front of a group of children, who were all lined in front of her along with being surrounded by a group of Bakemon; to keep them from running away and to have Gatomon identify if any of the children were the Eighth Digidestine.
Every child would walk up to Gatomon in fear, only for the feline Digimon to shake her head; stating that the child in front of her wasn't the Eighth child. The process continued for at least a minute, with Gatomon continuously rejecting each child; as she knew none of them were her partner. "I just hope that he didn't find Kari." Gatomon thought, not wanting to think about what Myotismon would do to her partner.
"You do understand, don't you Gatomon?" Her body stiffening the moment she heard Myotismon's voice, Gatomon turned to the side to see a portal of wispy, dark energy behind and watched as Myotismon emerged from it. The vampire lord looked down at his former servant and the human child, a malevolent smile adorned his face; as he saw the fearful expression on their faces. "If you lie to me, I will kill all these human children and you as well." He stated, his voice commanding the power to make his statement a reality.
The human children all quivered in fear as they stared at Myotismon, some beginning to sob and call out for they parents to help them. Gatomon, will still harboring fear towards Myotismon; glared up at the Evil vampire; who took notice of this but was unaffected by the look.
"If I recall Gatomon, I told you that if you were to stare at me with those eyes; I would hurt you as a result. However," Myotismon snapped his fingers, and Gatomon watched as the portal behind them glowed softly; before noticing an outline of something emerging from the portal. When the figure fully emerged from the portal; Gatomon eyes expanded in complete horror as she took a step back, her mouth gaping open; but no words were produced due to what she was staring at.
Emerging from the portal was Veemon, but he was suspend in the air by purple, wispy-like shackles around his wrist and the condition he was in; was simply frightening to look at. His body easily showed signs of torture, having numerous cuts across the arms, chest and neck, some of which still had fresh blood dripping out of them, along with some dry blood coating his blue scale skin. The most visual show that Myotismon had been torturing him, was the sight of a large X scar burned across his chest; that appeared to have been done quiet recently.
Seemingly unable to hear the screams of terror from the human children, Gatomon found that her eyes would not avert their gaze away from Veemon's appearance; noticing that the latter's head was held low; which prevented her from seeing his face. Myotismon, who had simply been watching her expression change, has a delightfully; sadistic smile on his face.
"On second thought, if you lie about the identity of the Eighth child or glare at me again with your eyes, perhaps I will destroy this Veemon to motivate you." Myotismon said.
Gatomon's eyes widen even further. "No!" She shouted, staring at Myotismon in fear.
"Then confirm to identity of the Eighth child, and perhaps I will spare his life." Myotismon exclaimed.
"Don't listen to him Salamon…" Gatomon and Myotismon were broken from their mutual gaze at the sound of Veemon's voice, with former turning her gaze back to her friend. Slowly, Veemon lifted his head up to stare at Gatomon, a small grin appearing on his face; in a hopeful attempt to provide comfort to her. "Whatever happens, don't give Myotismon what he wants, alright? Don't give Fang-Face over here, any satisfaction of thinking he's gonna win." Veemon said, determination in his voice.
The blue dragon then turned his head towards his enemy, his grin turning into a snarl as he narrowed his eyes at Myotismon. "And Myotismon, don't think I've forgotten about the beating I owe you. Once I get out of this, I'm coming for you." He growled out, his hands turning into fist. "Not only am I gonna make you pay for what you did to Gatomon, but also for what you did to Davis! And trust me; that not just a threat, it's a promise!"
Gatomon was shocked at her friend defiance towards Myotismon, but also amazed on how sure he was that Myotismon plans would fail. "Vee…" She muttered.
Just as Gatomon was shocked by Veemon's defiance, so too was Myotismon; but he was far better at hiding it as his facial expression remained stoic. Slowly; Myotismon's malevolent smirk reappeared on his face and he simply let out a soft, humorless laugh at Veemon. "I must commend your courage Veemon, as you have more bravado then most other Digimon I've met." Myotismon said, impressed.
Suddenly; before anyone could react, Myotismon shot his fist forward and slammed it into Veemon's stomach, causing the Dragon digimon eyes to widen and let out a pained gasp. Gatomon let out a shocked gasp at the sight, while Myotismon simply looked down at Veemon; who was coughing in pain. "However, I have little tolerance in listening to the words of fools; such as yourself." He stated, before turning back to Gatomon. "Now Gatomon, I believe you have a job to return to. I suggest you get back to it."
Gatomon, after sparing one final glance at Veemon, did as Myotismon said and returned her gaze back to the children, who had grown even more fearful of Myotismon; as they had been watching the entire ordeal before them. As she returned to her force duty, Gatomon's thoughts were currently focused on an entirely different matter.
"If I tell Myotismon who the Eighth Digidestine is, then Kari will be endangered," Gatomon thought, gritting her teeth. "And if I don't tell Myotismon who Kari… Veemon will be killed. What do I do?!"
Veemon, sensing the fear radiating of Gatomon, raised his head slightly and stare at his old friends back in regret. "Salamon…" He thought, before one single thought ran through his mind.
"Davis please… please be alive."
(Elsewhere, 9:22 am)
"Come on, come on! We need to make sure that we have all the humans!" A group of consisting of Gizamon and Bakemon were traveling through the city street, searching for any remaining humans that had evaded them. "Clink!" As the group continue moving, one of the Gizamon took notice of a sudden sound and came to a stop, turning to the side to see a metal can rolling out from an alley. For a moment the Gizamon just stared at the alleyway, seeing nothing but a dumpster and some garbage cans in it.
"Hey what are you doing?! We have to keep moving and find humans for Myotismon!" One of the Bakemon called out towards the Gizamon, with the orange furred creature sparing one more look towards alleyway before sprinting off, which left the entire area completely silent. For a moment the silence remained, before a sigh was let loose as Qrow peeked his head out from behind the dumpster.
"Alright, they're gone." Qrow stood up and stepped out from behind the dumpster with Rei and Jun following close behind him. The trio walked towards the Alleyway and the two adults peeked their heads out from the corner, making sure none of the creatures had remained behind. "For I second I thought that damn can was gonna give us away, but looks like he didn't notice at all." Qrow muttered, resting the pipe he was carrying against his shoulder.
"Yeah, lucky us." Rei couldn't believe what had been happening in the day so far. After Qrow had last previous night to search for Davis, she had decided to stay behind and comfort Jun and was going to wait for her husband to return, but apparently both she and her daughter ended up falling asleep on the couch. Rei then found herself recalling how everything that had happened in the morning, led to her and her family ending up in the situation they were currently in.
(Flashback: Motomiya residences, 8:00 am)
The sound of light snoring rang through the apartment as both Rei and Jun could be see sleeping on the couch together, the latter having her arms wrapped around her mother's stomach. The two continue to rest peacefully, and would probably would have continue to stay that way until...
"CRASH!" "Rei, Jun wake up!" Both mother and daughter let out startled shrieks, with the sudden sound of the door crashing open and screaming also causing Jun to shove her mother off the couch and sending the brunette hitting the floor face first. Letting out a pained groan, Rei pushed herself up into a sitting position and placed a hand on her face, which was currently had a stinging pain coursing through it. "Qrow, what the hell are you doing?!" Rei exclaimed, raising her head to look at her husband. "Why are you screaming so... early... Qrow?"
Rei's eyes widen as she stared up at her husband, all her previous anger dissipating when she took in his appearance. Qrow's face looked exhausted and was battered up, having a few bruises and scratches while his clothing was damage, his jacket being dirty and torn in the back; while his pants had a few tears in them. She also took notice of the metal pipe he was holding in his right hand.
"Dad what happened?! Your hurt!" Jun exclaimed, taking full notice of her father's damage state.
The raven-haired man shook his head and rushed towards the couples bedroom. "I don't have time to explain, just put on your shoes and wait by the door!" He said, walking into the room.
"Wha? Qrow, what is going on?" Rei exclaimed, getting to her feet. "Did you find Davis?"
"Look just do it! We have to get out of here!" Qrow shouted, from inside the bedroom.
Rei and Jun just looked at each, the younger of two looking at her mother with a worried expression. "Mom?" She asked.
Rei shifted her gaze towards her and Qrow's bedroom and stared at for a moment, before returning her gaze to Jun. "Let's listen to your father. Somethings shaken him, and that can't be a good thing." She muttered.
Jun, despite still wondering what was going on, listened to her mother and got off the couch before rushing to the front door. Rei followed closed behind her and began to put on her sneakers. "Rei, heads up!" Just as both girls finished putting on their respective footwear, Rei heard her name being called and turned to see a black baton flying towards her. Reaching her hand up and catching the objected, she brought it down to her face to examine it. "My collapsible Bo staff?" She questioned.
Qrow nodded as he walked over to his family, who noticed that he was wearing a sling backpack. "Yeah your gonna need it, trust me." He said, before walking towards the door. "Come on, we need to go to Kamiya residence and get Yuuko, along with Tai and Kari."
The raven-haired man walked out of the apartment with Rei and Jun following close behind, but before they could get far; the family found themselves staring at a group of six people, all of which were wearing green suits, hats and face mask. Qrow narrowed his eyes, getting a bad feeling as he tightens his grip on the pipe. "Anything I can do for you gentlemen?" He questioned.
The group of people simply stared at the family, who all began to feel uneased as result. However, suddenly the masked people suddenly exploded into smoke and much to Rei and Jun shock, transformed into what appeared to be white ghost with fang like teeth. "What the-!" Rei shouted, in disbelief.
"Hurry, grab the humans!" One of the creatures shouted, rushing forward.
Before they ghost-like creatures could even get near the family however, Qrow rushed forward and swiped at the creatures with his pipe; and sent them flying of the apartment edge to the street below. Turning to his family who just continue to look stun at what happened, before coughing to snap them out of it. "Like I said, I'll explain later but in the short term, the cities being taken over by monsters." Qrow said, looking at his wife.
"Digimon." The sound of Jun's voice caused both Rei and Qrow to turn to their daughter, who was looking over the railing and staring down at the streets. "Those things, they're not monsters. They're called Digimon." She said, turning to her family.
"Jun, how do you..." Before Qrow could finish his sentence; a familiar sounding scream caused the family to look towards the staircase. "That was Miss Kamiya's voice!" Jun shouted.
"Let's go!" Qrow shouted, running forward.
Rei give the baton she was holding a quick flick, and it extended on both sides to become a five feet Bo staff. She then quickly turned her head to face Jun. "Honey, make sure to follow after your father and I, and stay close." Rei said, getting a nodded form her daughter.
The two rushed forward after Qrow, who was fighting another group of ghost that where at the base of the stare case. The raven-haired male was pushing one of the ghosts back with the pipe, but saw from the corner of his eye that another was rushing towards him and he wouldn't be able to defend himself. However, "SWIPE!" the ghost was hit in the face by a Rei's Bo staff, sending it flying back. Smirking, Qrow pushed the ghost he was holding back and began swinging his pipe around, nailing multiple of them and sending them to the ground.
Qrow looked up at Rei and gave her a grateful look, which she returned, and Jun grinned at her parents; as she didn't know they could fight. The family then began to make their way down, luckily not running into anymore of those 'Digimon', as Jun called them, along the way. Just as the trio reached the 13th floor, they were almost knocked off their feet as the ground shook underneath them, grabbing onto the stair railing in order to prevent from falling.
"An earthquake?!" Rei shouted, hoping that wasn't the case.
Luckily for Rei, her hopes seemed to be answered as the quaking stopped as quickly as it came, with the family being all letting out relieved breaths. "Guess that wasn't an earthquake. That, or it was the shortest one in history to occur." Qrow muttered.
"Um, guys?" The sound of Jun's voiced caused the two adults to look towards their daughter, who was looking down at something at the streets. "I think I know what caused the ground to quake." Rei and Qrow looked at one another for a moment before walking over to Jun and, for what seemed like the hundredth time to happen in the same day (though in reality was the fourth or fifth time), their eyes widen at what they were staring at... which happened to be a three story tall, orange and blue stripe Dinosaur in the distance.
"...What the Hell...?" Rei muttered, in disbelief. "Okay, am I dreaming? Cause this feels like a dream."
Without tearing his gaze away from the dinosaur, Qrow reached his fingers out and pinched Rei on her neck, causing the woman to wince in pain and slap the raven-haired man's fingers. "Okay one, ow! Also two, I guess this proves that I'm not dreaming." Rei said, placing a hand on her neck.
Qrow looked to the Kamiya residence and notice that the door had been broken down, causing him to rush over and enter the apartment. The girls took notice of this and followed him, arriving at the entrance just as Qrow walked out of it. "Nobody's inside, Yuuko and her kids must have been captured by those things." He said, gritting his teeth.
"Wait... if they're all around the city, then what if they find Davis?" Jun asked, worry laced in her voice. "He could end up getting captured, and what gonna happen to him if they find him."
Rei and Qrow looked at their daughter for a moment and then at each other, neither not knowing what to say. Eventually, both parents placed a hand onto their daughter's shoulder and giving her a reassuring look. "Jun, I'm sure your brother is okay; so, don't worry. We're gonna find him, I promise." Qrow said, confidently.
"Your fathers right Jun, but right now we can't stay here. We can't let those things catch us, so we have to hide somewhere." Rei said, before placing a finger on her chin. "Question is though, where do we hide?"
"Ocean city." Both mother and daughter turned to Qrow, who was already making his back to the stairs. "Last night, when I was out looking for Davis, I ran into a group of people being attacked by the monsters-"
"Digimon." Jun exclaimed, cutting her father off.
"Right, uh Digimon. Anyways-"
"Are we not gonna question; how our daughter knows what these things are?" Rei questioned, also cutting her husband off.
Jun gained a sheepish expression, placing a hand on her neck. "Uh, it's kind of a long story." She said, looking.
"Ahem!" The two girls turned back to Qrow, who was wearing an annoyed expression. "You two done cutting me off?" He questioned, getting apologetic looks from his family as they nodded. "Like I was saying, I ran into some people being attack by those 'Digimon', and while most of them got caught; I manage to get away with one of them. Turns out, the guy I got away with was Hiroaki Ishida."
"The reporter from Fuji T.V.?" Rei questioned.
Qrow nodded. "That's the one. Anyways, he told that he was gonna hid his son at the Ocean City construction site and told me to head over there after I got you two." He explained. "I also gave him one of the posters of Davis, so if he was founded while Hiroaki was heading back to his place, then that's where will find him."
Rei crossed her arms over her chest, contemplating what Qrow had just explained. "Well, it's the best idea we have right now." She muttered, before nodding. "Guess were going to Ocean city."
The brunette then turned to her daughter, and bent down to look her in the eye. "Jun, remember what I told you. Stay behind your father and I, and stick close." She said, completely seriousness in her voice.
"Right." Jun said, nodding to her mother.
Standing up straight again, Rei and Jun turned back to Qrow and the raven-haired male nodded, placing the pipe he wielded against his shoulder, and his eyes narrowing in determination. "Then let's go." He said.
The family then raced down the stairs and once they reached the bottom, peeked their heads out the entrance to make sure that they're weren't anymore Digimon around. Once they confirmed the cost was clear, they broke off into a sprint as they headed towards the destination.
(Flashback end)
Shaking her head, Rei broke out of her memory dive and turned her head to Jun. "Jun, now that we have a moment to think, could you explain to me and your father how exactly you know what these things are?" She asked, expecting an answer.
Jun just looked at her mother before shifting her gaze towards her father, who had the same questioning expression Rei had on his face as he looked at her. Letting out a sigh, she took a step back and leaned against the wall. "When I was out last night, I ran into a pair brothers called Matt and TK who had Digimon that they were partners with, Gabumon and Patamon. We were together for a while and then we got attacked by some kind of vampire Digimon that calls himself Myotismon, who's the one responsible for all this." Jun said, before looking averting his gaze. "Also, he kind of... tried to kill me."
"WHAT!" Rei and Qrow shouted, shocked. "You were almost killed?!"
"Yeah; he used some bats to lift me into the air before sending plummeting down to the ground." Jun explained. "If it weren't for that Shadow guy, I probably wouldn't be alive right now."
"Shadow?" Qrow asked, raising an eyebrow. "Who's that."
Jun shrugged her shoulders at the question. "Beats me, all I know Is that he's friends with Matt and TK and is trying to beat mister vampire." She said, before looking down. "I also gave him a poster of Davis and asked him if he could find him."
Qrow and Rei just stared at their daughter, unable to believe what she had experience the previous night and that she had nearly been killed. Rushing over to her, Rei pulled her daughter into a hug and held her tightly. "I'm just glad you're okay honey. If something happens to you after your brother went, I don't what I would do." She said.
Jun looked up at her mother before hugging her back. "I'm sorry mom." She muttered, not wanting to cause her mother any more grief.
Qrow just watched the scene in front, feeling the same way his wife felt. However, before he could say anything, he caught sight of something above them and his eyes widen before launching himself forward. "Look out!" He shouted.
Both Rei and Jun notice the shadow above, but when they looked up all they saw were a pair of clawed hands descending to strike them. This however; did not come to happen, as Qrow appeared in front of the two and was the one to take the attack, which nailed the raven haired man in the chest and caused him to scream in pain, all while he crashed into his wife and daughter. The entire family flew out of the alley and crashed onto the streets, dazing all of them for a moment. Rei and Jun where the first to sit up and both turned their attention to Qrow, with their eyes widening in horror as they saw the front of his shirt had been torn, revealing three large, claw like gashes with blood leaking out on his chest.
"QROW/DAD!" Both mother and daughter shouted, in horror.
"Nehahahah!" While helping Qrow up into a sitting position, malevolent laughter rang through Rei's and Jun's ears from all sides and the two looked too see a group of 10 imp looking digimon, with gaping maws filled with sharp teeth and lanky arms with clawed finger hands. All of the imps just stared at the family, their red eyes narrowing in malicious glee. "I guess some of the humans did manage to escape." Vilemon(A) said.
"Well I guess we should capture the little girl, but what about the adult humans?"
"They aren't necessary… so let's just get rid of them."
The family's eyes widen at what the digimon just said, with Rei immediately getting to her feet and standing in front of her husband and daughter, body tense and her staff being pointed at the Digimon. "Don't even think about getting near my family!" Rei shouted, glaring angrily.
The Vilemon seemed to stop moving for a moment, by the sinister smiles on their faces remained as they stared at Rei. Jun, who was still sitting beside her father, looked up at her mother. "Mom..." Jun muttered, in fear.
Qrow, who was still seated on the ground; grit his teeth before he began to force himself to his feet, the gashes on his chest; while causing him a great deal of pain not deterring him from his efforts. He eventually manages to do so and stood beside Rei, gripping his pipe tightly with both hands while holding it out in front of him. "That goes double for me." He said, breathing heavily.
"Qrow you shouldn't fight, your hurt! Take Jun and get out of here!" Rei said, glancing at her injured husband.
"Not, a chance." Qrow said, keeping his eye forward.
"Qrow-"
"NO!" Qrow turned his head to Rei and glared at her while shouting, making the brunette flinch at the sudden raise of his voice. "I'm not just gonna runaway; while you fight these things by yourself and get killed!" He exclaimed, before his gaze soften. "Regardless if I'm hurt, I am not leaving. We're in this mess together, will find a way out of it together. End of discussion."
"I'm staying too." Jun said, making Rei look at her. "Those digimon are only chasing after us because they want me, and they're gonna hurt you both because of it!" Jun said, a determine look on her face. "If anything is gonna happen, I wanna be here to help you both too."
Rei just stared at her daughter before switching her gaze towards her husband, who had returned his gaze towards the Vilemon. Eventually, the mother just let out a defeated sigh and smiled softly. "I can't believe that I'm losing this argument, but there's no point in talking anymore." She said, glancing at Qrow. "Especially with you Qrow. Arguing with you, is like arguing with a brick wall."
The raven-haired man simply chuckled. "Yeah, that sounds like me." He muttered.
The Vilemons just continue to stare at the family, before glancing at one another. "It looks like those humans are gonna cause us some trouble, including that smaller human as well." Vilemon(A) said.
"Then why don't we just get rid of all of them?"
"But that would be against Myotismon's orders."
"We could just say that they wouldn't fighting, and that we had to kill them."
One of the Vilemon the suddenly leapt into the air and rocketed towards the family, his claws bared and ready to kill. "Let's just get it over with!" He screeched, full bloodlust in his voice.
The family braced themselves, Qrow and Rei tightening their hold on their weapons as they got ready to fight and protect their daughter. However, "WHAM!" Before the Vilemon could attempt to sink his claws into either of the two parents, a sudden invisible force stroked the Digimon; which not only stopped him in his tracks but sent him flying to the right and crashing into a building. The rest of the Vilemon turned to the building in shock, while Qrow, Rei and Jun also turned to the building, but stared in surprise and confusion.
"...What? What just happened?" Qrow questioned, unable to understand what he had just scene.
Rei simply lowered her spear at her husband's question. "I... I'm not sure." She muttered.
Jun simply remained quiet, as she also was unable to comprehend seeing the Digimon flying at her family, only to somehow get sent rocketing back crashing into a building. Just before she thinks further on it; she felt the wind flow swiftly across her face and turned her gaze forward to see-
….
….
….
...Jun's eyes widen at what she saw, her mouth gaping open but unable to produce words; as she stared at a familiar head of red hair a few feet away from her. The young girl turned her body forward and took a shaky step forward, the action catching the attention of Qrow and Rei. "Jun?" Rei questioned, taking notice of her daughters' expression.
"...Davis." The moment those words left her mouth, Qrow and Rei own eyes widen before they looked towards where Jun was staring and in doing so, their eyes widening further and their opened a gap. Standing a few feet away from them; was a young boy dressed in black and carrying a sword. While the boys back was turned towards them, the sight of his spiky hair that bared a red color, was all that the couple needed to confirm what they both thought.
"D-Davis?" Both Qrow and Rei asked, speaking loudly enough for the boy to hear them.
For a moment time seemed to standstill, the family continue to stare at the boys back; while the boy didn't seem to hear them and continue to look forward. Eventually though, the boy slowly turned his head and the family all let out a breath they hadn't know they were holding... as they stared at the face of their missing family member, who simply looked at them with a stoic expression.
(5 minutes earlier/Perception: Davis)
Davis stared down at the streets below from his perch on a building, watching as a group of Gizamon ran forward; completely unaware of the boy's gaze on them. "I can't believe that it's gotten this bad, there all over the place." He muttered.
After getting back to the rooftop, the first thing Davis did was quickly check his home and then the Kamiya's residence; but found neither his family nor Tai, his parents or Kari. However, he had taken notice of the giant hole near the buildings entrance and given that size of the hole, Greymon had been the one to make it and that meant that at the very least, Tai, Agumon and Kari had managed to escape. Knowing that Kari would be safe with her brother; Davis knew that he had he only had one other objective: find Veemon and take down Myotismon.
Getting to his feet, Davis turned his head in the direction of the west; which happened to be where he felt a large amount of lifeforces being clustered together, most of which were humans. "That must be where everyone in the city is, meaning it's gonna be my first stop." He muttered. "Follow the trail to the source, and hopefully I find Veemon."
The young boy then began to jump from rooftop to rooftop, making his way to the location where he sensed the collection of people were. As he was jumping from building to building, Davis's thoughts began slowly shifting away from finding Veemon and Kari, and more towards his family. "I know I'm not mad at Jun anymore, or at least; not as mad as I was before. But mom and dad," He thought, before sighing and closing his eyes. "I don't know how I'm gonna react, when I see them."
"QROW/DAD!" Davis eyes shot opened as he came to a sudden stop as he suddenly heard two familiar voices, his head snapping to the left in the direction of where the voice came from. "That was... Mom and Jun's voice. And they were screaming," He muttered, before his eyes widen further. "Dad."
Immediately; Davis turned and rushed towards his family voice, his pace quickening with every leap as he rushed forward. He could feel his heart pounding against his chest as he jumped, like it was about to burst out from his chest at any given moment. "Please be safe! Please be safe! Please be safe!" He muttered, his tone growing more and more frantic.
Eventually after a least minute of jumping, Davis landed on a building and looked down at the streets below; with his eyes widening at the sight below him. His family were standing in front of a group of Vilemon, both his parents being in front of Jun and holding weapons in their hands. He also took notice of his father injuries, his hand unconsciously tightening into a fist as a fury build in his chest.
"Let's just get it over with!" Davis was snapped out of his thoughts; and he took notice of one of the Vilemon heading towards his family. Without even realizing it, and moving at speeds he didn't know he had, Davis rocketed off the building. Reeling his fist back, everything seemed to slow down in Davis's eyes as he grew closer and closer to the Vilemon...
Until finally...
"WHAM!"
The crimson haired boy stared at his family, staring at the shock's expression on their faces; while he kept his expression neutral, stoic and uncompromised. Before any words could be exchanged between the family, all the Vilemon quickly surrounded the crimson haired boy and got into crouched stances. "This must be the kid that lord Myotismon told us about."
"He said to kill him on sight, right?"
"Yeah, so let get it done."
All the Vilemon all let out screams as they leapt into the air, all aiming their claws directly at Davis to rip him to shreds. Qrow, Rei and Jun's eyes widen at the action, all three breaking into a sprint as they rushed towards the boy. However, the trio were to far and could only watched as the Vilemon's claws grew closer to Davis, who simply continue to stare at them. "DAISUKE!" They screamed, in terror.
The Vilemon claws were almost at the young boy's face, the group of evil Digimon all wearing sadistic smirks on their faces as they were ready to kill the boy. Just as they were about to do so however, Davis's eyes widen, and his body was quickly surround in a red light; that cause the Vilemon eyes to widen to shock before the light engulfed them. Qrow, Rei and Jun had to shield their eyes from the light's intensity, the trio hearing the screams of the Vilemon before they began to slowly die down. After a few seconds, both the sound of the screams and the intensity of the light faded; with the family opening their eyes and being greeted with the sight of Davis standing in the same spot, but he was surrounded by 9 piles of ash.
"..." Neither Qrow, nor Rei, nor Jun couldn't believe or understand what had just happened, as one minute those imp Digimon were about to try and kill their missing family member and the next, they had been reduced to ash. However, the family were brought out of there daze when they heard footsteps; and saw that Davis was walking towards them with his head held low, rendering his face nonvisible.
"Daisuke!" Rei was immediately the first one to rush towards the boy, Jun following second with Qrow bring up the rear. Once Rei reached her son, the mother fell to her knees and wrapped her arms around the boy; holding him in a tight embrace. "Daisuke! Are you alright?!" She asked, tears welling up in her eyes.
Jun reached her mother and brother, but before she took any action; the girl took notice of the clothing her brother was wearing and the sword he was holding. "Wait, that was the sword that Shadow..." The girl let out a gasp in realization, her mind immediately making the connection between her the two.
Her brother was Shadow. Her brother had saved her life, from nearly dying by Myotismon's hand. And without even knowing it, Jun realized that she had confessed and apologized to her brother for the way she treated him.
Qrow, who had been walking slowly to due to his chest wound; stopped right beside his daughter and simply stared forward, his gaze locked on his wife and son; all while taking notice of the boy lack of visible eyes. "Daisuke..." Qrow muttered, guilt laced in his voice.
The boy's body seemed to stiffen when his father said his name, before he slowly began to walk backwards and broke out from his mother embrace, which caused the older woman to gain a surprise expression. Davis, while continuing to keep his head held low, walked over to his father and stopped in front of the older man; with the man simply looking down at his son with a worried expression. Before he could say anything, Qrow watched as Davis slowly raised his hand up and placed it on his father injured chest. A red aura then radiated off the boy's hand and surrounded Qrow's chest; with the older man eyes widening in shock and was about to take a step back, he stopped himself when he notices that pain from the chest on his wounds was rapidly fading.
Eventually after about a minute had passed; the aura around Davis's hand and Qrow's chest faded and the boy removed his hand, revealing the father's chest to be completely wound free; much to the family's shock. Qrow reached his hand up and cautiously placed it against his chest; making sure that what he was seeing was real and not some weird illusion. The raven-haired man turned his attention back to his son, who still refused to meet his sight.
"Davis... how did you do that?" Qrow questioned, completely baffled.
"We need to move away from here. It's not safe." Davis said, crouching down and placing his hands on the ground.
Channeling his powers into the ground, a gold circle with a M in the center surrounded the family and before Qrow, Rei and Jun could react; they along with Davis were surrounded by golden aura and the entire group vanished into thin air, leaving only a piles of ashes and damaged building as the only trace that anyone had been there.
(Apartment complex: Rooftop) (Recommended to be read with sad music played)
All was quiet on the rooftop, only the soft sound of the winds breeze making any noise; at the top of the building. The quietness, however, was broken when a golden light suddenly appeared from nowhere on the rooftop center; and when it subsided the entire Motomiya family could be seen in the center.
Qrow, Rei and Jun all let out small groans as the held their stomach, all three suddenly feeling quite nauseated for some reason. "Ugh. Does anyone else feel sick to their stomachs; or is just me?" Rei questioned, shaking her head softly.
"I feel like I'm going through an old hangover, except this feel so much worst." Qrow muttered, placing one his hands on his head.
"I think I'm gonna puke." Jun said, praying to Kami that she wouldn't really throw up.
Eventually, the family managed to get control of this stomachs and slowly stood up to full height, taking notice of their surroundings. "Wait, isn't this the rooftop of our apartment complex?" Jun asked, noticing the familiar area. "How did we get here?"
"ZIPP!" Hearing a bag being zipped open, the trio turned towards the source to see Davis a few feet away from them; shuffling through a duffle bag with his back to them. Qrow and Rei spared a glance to each other, before the two began to walk over their son. "Davis…?" Qrow called out.
For a moment, Davis stopped searching through his bag the moment he heard his father's voice; but he then proceeded to continue to rummage through the bag as if he heard nothing. Taking notice of this, the husband and wife gained guilty expression their face but continued to walk forward. Rei then decided to try speaking to her son. "Davis please listen, we just wanted to- "
"STAY BACK!" Davis sudden shout caused both Qrow and Rei to stop in their tracks, their eyes widening as they suddenly felt a strong pressure overcome them; that prevented them from speaking. "…So now you care about me?! Now your worried about me, after everything that's happened!?" Davis asked, his body shaking in anger.
"No Davis, that's not true! We're sorry for how treated you! Not just for what happened two days ago, but for how we've treated you for the past couple of years!" Qrow shouted, in guilt.
"Davis, please we do care about you! I know that we didn't show it to you as often as we should have, but that doesn't change the fact that we're your family and that we love you!" Rei exclaimed.
Before either of the two parents could say anything else, Davis stood up to full height, turned to his parents and lifted his head up before screaming.
"THEN WHY DID YOU TREAT ME LIKE YOU HATED ME?!"
Neither Qrow or Rei, nor Jun who had been remaining quiet the entire time, could bring themselves to speak after hearing what Davis had just screamed and could only stare at the boy. As they did, they all were able to see clearly that to their shock; Davis looked vastly different in the fact that, not only was he a bit taller and far more muscular then before, but that his face seemed far more sharper and he had a scar on his right cheek. However, the change that truly shocked the family to their core were Davis's eyes. Instead of the familiar red orbs that held happiness and excitement in them, these eyes held within them Anger…,
Rage…,
Hatred…,
and Pain.
"…Davis…" Jun whispered, in shocked.
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW IT FELT TO ME, TO THINK THAT MY OWN FAMILY HATED ME?! THAT YOU DIDN'T WANT ME?!" Despite knowing that their still might be enemy Digimon around, despite knowing that Kari was out there being hunted, despite knowing that Myotismon had Gatomon and Veemon… Davis found that he couldn't care less due to how overwhelmed he was with emotion. After spending a year in the Digital World, away from his family and now seeing the again; he couldn't help but feel angry towards them and stare screaming in rage.
"IT HURT ME, ALRIGHT! IT HURT ME SO MUCH, THAT ALL OF YOU JUST IGNORED ME AND ACTED LIKE I DIDN'T EXIST TO BEGIN WITH!" Davis shouted, his hands balling into first. "I EVEN STARTED TO GET INTO TROUBLE ON PURPOSE, JUST TO SO ANY OF YOU WOULD NOTICE! BECAUSE EVEN IF YOU WERE YELLING AT ME, IT MADE ME FEEL BETTER THAT YOU AT LEAST NOTICE THAT I WAS ALIVE!"
The family simply continue to remain quiet as they listened to Davis's screams, all of them feeling a multitude of emotions course through them as they did:
For Qrow, his face was ridden with guilt, teeth grinding against one another as tears flowed down, his hands clutched so tightly into fist; that his nails dug into his palms and began to draw blood. "I'm miserable excuse of a father." The Father thought, chastising himself.
For Rei, the mother had her cover her mouth as the tears openly fell from her eyes, her body quivering in shame and despair; as she could feel the amount of pain inside of her son's voice. "I'm a horrible mother." The Mother thought, disgusted with herself.
For Jun, she was just openly crying as she stared her brother; seeing how much grief she had caused him; cause to girl to wrap her arms around herself, as she felt like she was about to collapse. "I'm the worst sister ever." The daughter thought, ashamed of herself.
Eventually, Davis screams slowly to grow softer and softer until finally; the boy fell to his hand and knees, his body quivering as the anger inside of him began to finally dissipate, however…,
"Sob, sob, sob" The sound of crying coming from Davis; caused all three to gasp silently in shock, as when the looked closer; the found themselves being greeted by the sight of tears falling down Davis face, as stared at the floor.
"Why…?" Davis chocked out, all his anger gone and replaced with pure sadness and grief. "Why do none of you love me…?"
The moment Davis said those words, the family felt the final nail in the coffin being hammered in. Jun, Rei and Qrow all rushed forward towards the crying boy, tears of their own falling down each of their faces as they did so. Jun was the first to arrive to Davis and quickly pulled her little brother into her arms in an emotional hug, with Rei following second and wrapping her arms around both of her children from the left side, and finally Qrow arriving on the right side of his family and wrapping his arms around them. Together, the family simply sat and held one another as they cried on the rooftop, the sadness, grief and pain being shared between all of them on this day.
Okay guys, I'm not gonna even try to come up with some excuse; as to why this chapters late and tell you the facts. I was writing this chapter and it was originally gonna be shorter then this, but I decided to give you guys a longer chapter to make up for being gone so long and that, coupled with college finals is the reason this chapter is so late.
Alright, so with that being done; I can honestly tell you guys that not only is this the longest so far in the story, but also probably the most ambitious one yet due to all the transitions and all, also teased some foreshadowing for future events so keep that in mind. Also I really tried my best to make this chapter the most emotional one yet, especially during this final part with Davis finally confronting his family and letting out all his pent up angst towards them. Also to those who wonder why Davis is still angry at Jun despite saying he has forgiving her two chapters ago, it's because due to seeing his family completely together; his anger towards his family as a whole, caused him to remember Jun's treatment towards him and reignited his anger towards her.
Anyways, like and follow the story for future updates, leave a comment about your thoughts or any questions you might have about the chapter, and I will see you guys next time on Miracles & Light United! See ya!
