Chapter 13

Disclaimer: I don't own the Vampire Diaries. I'm just borrowing. Only the story is mine.

Note: Previously, in "Heart of the Ocean," Klaus and Finn spend some quality time with Caroline and Sage.

Hey, guys! I came up with the idea for this next chapter a while ago and I thought I'd share. Don't ask how I came up with it, just take it as it comes. No spoilers.

ON WITH THE STORY!

Marissa's Stateroom – Later…

Elijah and Katherine entered Marissa's stateroom. The young witch had told them to join her because she had something to tell them in regards to the ship. They entered the stateroom to find it in somewhat of a disarray. There were books on her bed, as well as a circle of candles in the center of the room. The two vampires looked at each other, not sure what this all was.

Marissa walked in from her private promenade deck to see her guests have arrived. She noticed the confused looks on their faces and said, "I'm sure you're wondering why my room is like this."

"That's putting it mildly," said Katherine. "Marissa, what are you doing?"

"I can explain, but you're probably going to think I'm crazy," said Marissa. "After our meeting, I returned to my stateroom and the second I walked in, I had another vision."

"But, you've been having visions since you boarded the ship," said Elijah. "I fail to see why you'd think we'd think you were crazy once we've heard about it."

"This vision was different," said Marissa. "I saw my husband...and the adult version of my unborn daughter. They told me to look in my grimoire to find a spell that will save the ship, as well as the humans."

"Save the ship?" said Katherine. "But, you said it couldn't be done, that half the people on board are going to die because there weren't enough lifeboats. Even if you could save them, it would take a pretty powerful spell to do it."

"I know, that's why I was looking in my grimoires," said Marissa. "It took some searching, but I think I was able to locate the spell I need. It's a shield spell, and with enough power, it'll be big enough to envelope the entire ship and protect it from any icebergs it may encounter."

Elijah and Katherine exchanged looks and Elijah approached Marissa, a concerned look on his face. "Marissa, are you sure you should be using so much magic? You're in a delicate condition and you could risk harming your child."

Marissa nodded. "I appreciate your concern, Elijah, but I'll be fine. I saw my daughter as an adult, she's going to be fine as well. Trust me, I know what I'm doing. Besides, my mother taught me everything she knew about magic."

"In either case, we're going to make sure nothing happens to you while you're performing your spell," said Katherine. "We may not know each other very well, but you've become very important to us and we'd hate to lose a powerful ally."

Marissa wanted to protest, but she could tell it would be futile, since Katherine seemed adamant about wanting to be on hand in case anything happened.

"Very well, Katherine, if you and Elijah are insisting on being on hand, I'll let you."

Katherine nodded. "We wouldn't be offering to do it if we weren't concerned for your safety, as well as your child's safety."

"I understand," said Marissa. "Now, I've got a lot of work ahead of me if I'm going to perfect this spell. I'm powerful, yes, but this spell is something I never tried before. But, because we have so many humans to save, I'm willing to do whatever I can."

"We have faith in you, Marissa," said Elijah. "We know you'll succeed in your endeavor."

Note: Yeah, I know this was a short update, but I couldn't resist coming up with a new idea. I promise I'll add more soon. Don't worry, Marissa's spell will work. I realize the ship already sank in real life, but I'm going to change it for the story.

ENJOY THE UPDATE AND REMEMBER TO REVIEW!
