Chapter 2: Blue, red and green.
All he could see was black, is this how being gone from the world felt? Dark and saddening? Link could no longer feel Zelda's sorrowful touch, the cold touch of death still gripping his heart, but ever so gently warming to lukewarm flutters of life. Link opened his eyes, his left arm was now intact again, although still severed slightly, being held to his shoulder by small amounts of muscle. However, he could move it perfectly, and there was not even a inkling of pain.
Link surveyed his surroundings, noticing the pale yellow and orange light surfacing from the horizon and illuminating the... clouds? He looks around him cautiously, searching for any types of clues as to where he may be. A glint of green caught his eye, along with blue and red, he turned to face the direction of the 3 colours and walked curiously toward them. As Link drew near he could make out each colour into a person, 2 women and a girl faced the sunrise, surveying the land below the clouds. A woman resembling the hottest fire, dressed in burning red and orange, 2 gold rings adorning each wrist and fiery vermilion hair, tied in a ponytail atop her head. A serene woman in blue, wearing a loose turquoise dress, almost looking like it was made from the purest body of water. She held a golden harp in her arms and her flowing azure hair decorated her head. She too wore gold bangles, but on her upper arm and a jewl adorned circlet placed delicately on her forehead. The final figure, that of a young girl, resembled and tranquil forest, dressed in green with two large buns at each side of her head, instead of bangles, she wore blue cuffs at her wrists. Her face held a cheeky grin, child like and playful. Link felt like he knew these women, it dawned on him and he realized who these 3 beings were. They were the sole creators of the tri-force, the three goddesses,Din, Nayru and Farore. The holders of Power, Wisdom and Courage.
The three goddesses turned to face Link, each with peaceful smiles.
"Link, you have fought valiantly"
Din placed her hand on the hero's shoulder.
"But right now, where you are is where those who have perished pass through to their final resting place."
Farore clasped her hands together solemnly and closed her eyes.
"As you may have perceived, Link, you have passed into the world of the dead"
Nayru bowed her head, but lifted it again and followed Farores words.
"But, we three goddesses and her grace, Hylia have decided to spare you death, and grant you life once again."
Din spoke up again, clasping Link's hands and smiling.
"Hyrule still needs its hero, and cannot afford to loose you at this moment"
Link's eyes shone with gratitude and a heavy smile was plastered across his face. An illuminated figure appeared behind the three women, Hylia emerged and bowed her head to the male.
"Link, in order to receive life once again, please allow me to bestow it upon you, I ask you to kneel before me and take it."
Link proceeded to kneel on one knee and placed his right hand on his heart and his left on Hylia's outstretched hand. She chanted a phrase in what Link recognized as Old Hylian and placed her free hand on top of Link's. He felt a light sensation in his toes, and proceeded to stand. It was then he could see the glimmers of light rising from below him and he observed that around him was slowly fading, his body disintegrating into elegant gold flecks of light. Hylia and the three goddesses waved to link as his vision blurred suddenly and he was thrown into darkness once again.
"Farewell Hero, may we meet again, but only when the time has come for the next legend to start from where you left off."
It had been only a few hours since Zelda had taken Link's body via Epona back to Hyrule castle. She had ordered Link's body to be cleansed and re-clothed in appropriate garments, in order for her subjects to pay their respects to their fallen hero, before Zelda said her final goodbyes to Link herself. She was lost in thought, when one of the castle guards came sprinting into her study, heavily panting and looking exasperated.
"P...Princess, Zelda,"
He spoke between heavy panting, catching his breath.
"It's link, he's come back, he's been spared his eternal sleep!"
Zelda's eyes widened, her mouth opening slightly, she stood and walked out of her study, her stiff movements turned into a jog and as she gathered her skirts she started to sprint. She ran frantically towards the room Link was lay in, Zelda grabbed the door handle and threw the door open. She ran to Link's side, his straw coloured hair decorated with white roses and a copy of his tunic, in the purest white covered his body.
Link turned towards the princess, his eyes full of renewed life and a cheeky grin on his face, cornflower blue irises meeting Zelda's azure ones.
"Hey there beautiful, hope you didn't miss me too much?"
The princess broke down and flopped onto Link's chest, he smoothed her hair and stroked the top of her head gently.
"Hush now, I'm fine see? Somebody did a good job of patching me up."
Zelda looked up and Link reached his hand down to her cheek to wipe the tears from her eyes.
"I was at the land of the dead, it was so beautiful"
He looked wistfully at Zelda's face.
"But I met the three goddesses and Hylia, they told me Hyrule still needed me, its hero"
Link placed his hand atop Zelda's head.
"And how could I bare to leave my Princess behind?"
Zelda smiled though her tears, and leaned forward to place a tender kiss on Link's lips. Never before had she felt such happiness. Link was alive thanks to the Goddesses kindness, and now she could be with her hero and live in peace together.
"I love you link"
She stared contently into Link's eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I love you more, my princess."
Link placed his hands on Zelda's lower back and embraced her lovingly.
Link was alive again, but why did the goddesses grant him life once more? Was Hyrule in danger once again? It didn't matter at this moment, all Link could care about was being back with his princess.
Thanks for reading!
If I owned The Legend of Zelda I'd be able to buy myself Angelic pretty (I wish) Obviously I do not own the franchise or the characters, all rights to Nintendo.
Review if you wish, this took me 2 hours to type up and I had a draft and kept changing the plot and words aha.
Love, Rin.
