Episode 26: The Cure/Finale
After finally reaching the locker, Batgirl and Oliver quickly found out that it was locked with a high tech hand scanner. Batgirl knelt in front of the lock and looked it over. "Well, crap…this is gonna take some time to hack," she said.
"We don't have time for this," Oliver said, frustratedly.
"Cool it, alright?" she said, glancing up at him. "Anna's been through hell and back. She can make it through this." Batgirl pulled out a circular tool form her belt and began the process of hacking into the system. Oliver couldn't help but think of Anna. How she looked when they left…it was eating him alive.
It took about ten minutes to hack into the locker's systems. The door popped open and Batgirl pulled the door open completely. It was empty except for three syringes of red colored liquid, taped together. Oliver grabbed the syringes and they ran as fast as possible to the top level.
At the Apartment…
Sophia stared at her sister in horror. Anna was now completely pale, no color to her skin at all, and she was in and out of thrashing fits. Talia turned to look at Drake, who was standing in the doorway. Drake shook his head and Talia sighed. "They need to get here soon. The poison is acting more quickly than I'd anticipated," she said.
"What do you mean?" Sophia asked, shakily.
"Anna's blood is different, Sophia. It reacts in strange ways. If the poison is left in her for a long period of time…bad things could happen," Talia replied, crossing her arms and glancing at Anna.
Suddenly, Oliver and Batgirl rushed into the room, followed by Victor and Helena. Oliver gave Talia the syringes and Talia hurriedly injected one into Anna's arm. Anna went still, and a wave of silence swept over the room in a rush. Oliver sat beside Anna on the bed and took her limp, pale hand. "Anna? Anna, wake up," he said. She stirred. "Oliver?" she whispered.
Everyone sighed in relief. Sophia rushed to her sister's side. "Oh my god, you're okay! I was so worried," she said to Anna. Anna grinned with her eyes closed. "That's me. Scaring people to death since nineteen-eighty-eight," she said.
"You nearly died Anna. I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't-" Oliver began. Anna squeezed his hand and looked him in the eye. "I'm okay, Oliver," she said.
"I told you," Batgirl said to Helena. "Anna's got nine lives or something, man, it's scary."
"That's ironic, seeing as she spent most of her time with Aunt Cat Woman as a child," Helena said back. As the two continued to discuss Anna's ability to come back from near death, Anna pulled herself up to sit. "I feel fuzzy," she said.
"That's just the Hiroshi working it's way through your system," Drake said.
"Hiroshi? What?" Anna said, glancing between Oliver and Talia. "You didn't."
"It was the only way, Anastasia," Talia said.
"Oh crap…" Anna said. "…I think I'm gonna be sick…."
"What are you talking about?" Oliver asked.
"My blood doesn't tolerate Hiroshi. It won't accept it, but it will get rid of the poison. Who knows what-" Suddenly, Anna disappeared. Oliver jumped back. "Anna!" Talia gasped. Batgirl and Helena became silent and watched, wide-eyed. "Where'd she go?" Batgirl asked.
"I don't know…wherever Anna last thought of," Talia said.
"That doesn't make any sense," Oliver said, through gritted teeth.
"Mom, what is going on?" Sophia asked.
"I told you, her blood is different," Talia said.
"How different?" Oliver asked.
"Meta-Human different," Talia answered.
"What's a Meta-Human?" Batgirl asked, stepping forward.
Gotham City…
Anna didn't remember how she came to stand in the middle of the road, in the middle of the night. But there she was, clad in a black suit. She turned around in a 360 to find out where she was. She saw the familiar high-rise buildings not too far off. At first she thought maybe it was Metropolis. But then she remembered she was in Gotham city.
She shook her head. "No, no, no. I cannot be back here…" just as she said those words, the scenery changed.
Central City…
Suddenly it was raining, still in the middle of the night. And the road was different. Two bright lights formed in front of her and a loud car horn sounded. The lights grew closer and closer. Before they could touch her, a rush of wind and a red streak set her to the side of the road on a lawn of grass. She turned over on her back and saw a semi-truck driving past. She nearly escaped getting hit by that truck. Anna looked down at herself and found she was wearing different clothes. She was dressed in jeans, boots, a t-shirt, and a black jacket. What the hell? She thought.
She heard a noise from her left and leapt up into a sitting positon. Someone dressed in red from head to toe. And from what she could tell, it was a man. He was face down, breathing heavily. His leg was deeply cut up and bloodied. He rolled over onto his back and she saw he was wearing a mask. "Who are you? Where the hell am I?" Anna asked. He sat up and glanced at her before examining his leg. "You're in Central City. Who are you?"
"I'm not telling you that," she said, standing. "I just need to find my way home…"
"Where's your house?" he asked, standing as well.
"Starling City," she said.
"Yeah, um, you're gonna need a plane to get to Starling City from here," he said.
"I'm still not sure where here is exactly. Which coast are we nearest?" Anna asked.
"Uh, East," he said.
"Dammit," she mumbled, walking the opposite direction.
"Hey, wait, How'd you get here if you don't know where you are?" he asked, following along behind her.
"I don't know," she said. "It just happened. Look, I don't know who you are or what you want, but all I want is to get home to my fiancé." Suddenly, instead of being in front of the man in red, she now stood behind him. She stopped walking and so did he. He whipped around, looking for her, and then stopped when he saw her. "What did you just do?" he asked.
"I don't know," Anna said.
"You can Teleport?" Anna sighed, frustrated. "I don't know! I didn't do anything!" He walked up to her, still limping even though it seemed that the bleeding on his leg had stopped. "I know some people that can help you. Maybe even help you control the Teleportation so you can go home," he said.
"Where are they?" she asked.
"Star Labs. C'mon, I'll show you."
