A/N: I know its been like two...three years. Sorry. I became preoccupied with ideas and this got left. Until now. Hope you like it.

"So what do we do next," Elena questioned the witch. Had she stopped to think about it she would have thought it insane how quickly and effortlessly she accepted this tale of supernatural intrigue but Elena Gilbert was nothing if not loyal to her loved ones. The moment getting Katherine back became an option she had jumped in with both feet ready to work.

"They'll be looking for you and undoubtedly me, as well," Sheila said as the flames on the candlesticks shot up. Damon cast a sideways glance and his eyes narrowed before turning back to the old witch. She returned his gaze and turned back to Elena. "Klaus is here. The spirits have cast out their magicks and he's already found me missing. We can't let them find this sanctuary or he'll try his best to break in here."

"Then what do we-" Elena was interrupted when Sheila grabbed her head and began screaming. "Sheila. Sheila!" The doppleganger rushed to her side as the witch cried out. "What's happening?"

"They're trying to warn me," she muttered through clenched teeth and reached an arm out to Damon. "Go to the high school! Your brother and Klaus are there for my Bonnie."

"I'm on it," Damon said and turned to leave. Elena grabbed his arm.

"I'm going with you."

"No, you're not. The last thing we're going to do is hand deliver the Petrova doppleganger to a thousand year old psychopath who needs you as the final ingredient in his millennium old quest to unleash his hybrid beast. I'll go seeing as I'm the Bennet benefactor and you will stay hidden."

"Bonnie is my best friend and you can't go up against both your brother and Klaus by yourself. I'll distract them and buy you and Bonnie some time, while Sheila finds a way to bring back Katherine."

"And how do you plan to keep Klaus from sacrificing you if I can't get to you in time?"

"With knowledge that they don't have," Sheila interrupted. "Now go. Save my granddaughter."

Elena bolted from the car and met Damon in front of the hood, scanning the crowd for their target.

"There they are," Damon nodded. "They're heading right towards the cheerleaders."

"I'm going to go around," Elena pointed, "when one of them sees me they should be distracted long enough for you to grab Bonnie."

"When I have her in a safe space I'll join you. As long as you're by a crowd they shouldn't be able to do anything just make sure you don't go anywhere with them. You hear me?" he asked when he noticed her far off look.

"Don't take rides from strangers, got it dad."

"As if," he snorted and placed both palms against his puffed out chest. "This ain't no dad bod," he smirked. "Now, what do you do if they try to grab you?"

"Use this dark object," she twisted the locket around her neck, "and make sure I run like the wind."

Damon looked at the crowd as they cheered for the Mystic Fall team as they ran onto the field. "Break!"

Elena saw the men by the sidelines and waited. When they started heading towards Bonnie she finished sneaking out from the bleachers and clutched the locket.

Stefan turned and noticed her first and she put on a smile as if she had no clue what was happening. She had changed into her cheerleading uniform before leaving the witch house and she bound over to Stefan, seemingly unaware of his intentions to murder her.

"Fancy running into you," she flirted and put her arms through his. "Are you excited for your first game?"

"I am now that you're here," he oozed charm as he locked onto her gaze. "I didn't take you for a cheerleader," he commented.

"I used to be really into it but now I'm kind of just hanging onto it as a reminder of what my life was like before my parents died. My aunt thought it would be a good idea to try and keep up a routine," she said somberly. "Do you want to hang out after the game? We can always go to the grill and get something to eat."

"That sounds great, but I have a buddy with me. Do you mind if he joins us?"

"Not at all. Where is he? I'd love to meet him," Elena bounced up and down on her heels and Stefan waved Klaus over.

A chill raced up Elena's spine, much different from the excitement she had felt earlier today when she ran into Stefan, or the foreboding she felt when Damon appeared. This was...familiarity.

"Pleasure to meet you, love. I'm Klaus."
