A/N: It is amazing to see so many people still following this story after so long. I can't thank you all enough. This is a short one. It is essentially a bridge between the last chapter and the next. There were some things that needed to be said that didn't really fit in the next. I hope you enjoy and thank you everyone for continuing to read and for all your reviews. I have a smile every time I see one pop up in my inbox.

I did not wish for this conversation to continue out in the open. Wrapping my arms around her trembling form I used my hearing to ensure we were alone before leaping up to the roof. From there it was simple enough to use my speed to move us to a quieter location before heading up towards the night sky. Setting down hidden from the neighbours by the trees surrounding the back yard I used my sensitive hearing to check the area once more. The house was silent, the neighbours on each side already in their slumber.

Taking a moment to examine the bond, it was unsurprising to find she was in pain. However finding relief within the bond was unexpected.

"Thankyou."

"For what?"

"For stopping me, for sending them away." She was whispering into my collar but I heard her clearly.

"You asked me to send them away. Why?"

"If they stay here things will never be quiet for you."

"For us."

"For us," she repeated lifting her head to look me in the eye. Her eyes were so bright, the tinge of her red tears offsetting the blue. She remained pressed against me, allowing me to hold the majority of her weight. Even if I had been human this task would have been simple, her tiny body holding very little weight.

"That is why you searched for them." It had not been something I had considered. I had believed as she travelled to the hotel that she was attempting to have both parts of her life, the past and the present.

"They are ruining their lives by staying here. They will never find me, even if they did you wouldn't let them remember. If they are back home they can keep an eye on Gran. Tara and Laf are her family now and I know she will look after them, like they will her."

"The investigation will be coming to a close. They will rule that you are dead." Her body stiffened against my own.

"But without a body?"

"There was a slight amount glamour required but the evidence they had already retrieved was pointing to your death. The blood pool at the site of the attack, your blood soaked dress was discovered during trash collection not too far away from the club in an area trafficked by a large volume of delivery vehicles. It will be ruled a homicide but will become what the human force calls a cold case."

"It feels wrong faking my death."

"In truth we did not fake your death. You are dead. We have merely staged your death in a more appropriate manner."

"Still sounds wrong. It's for the best, right?" she asked laying her head upon my shoulder.

"Yes. It is for the best."

I trust you.

I could hear her clearly but I could also hear the emotion in her voice.

"I'm sorry."

"What are you sorry for?"

"Leaving. You told me not to but I had to."

"I would have helped you had you asked."

"You were doing important things. You had all those meetings and this was something so small. I thought I could do it, I thought I could get them to go home." She was too intelligent to believe she could reason with them. She loved these people as family and she had to know that they would be unwilling to leave her behind after discovering she was still alive. I could only assume she had wished to attempt to glamour them herself.

"Perhaps I should have allowed you to attempt the glamour."

" should have done it. If I did it wrong I could have hurt them."

"Your lack of confidence is troubling."

"I don't lack confidence, Godric. I just didn't want to screw it up and mess with their heads." I could understand her apprehension however I did not believe it was solely down to the familiar attachment she had to these people. I did not believe it was the full extent of the situation. Nevertheless I knew how to broach this element of her new life along with others. Plans needed to be made but the night was already drawing to a close. She needed to be inside as she died for the day.

"We must go inside. You will soon die for the day." I could feel her nod against me accepting what I was saying but the reluctance to leave my embrace shimmered along the bond. "We will leave as soon as you rise.

"Leave for where?" She asked as she approached the house.

"Another of my properties. We need to begin your training."
