Chapter 27/Epilogue

"Sorrow"

Tears were shed for hours after the passing of Princess Elsa; Loki's being the most abundant. He would not leave her side even when the Allfather came to bless her body to get it ready for transport back to Midgard. The heroes waited with Heimdall as guards carried their princess in a ceremonial, clear topped, casket; dressed in her finest robes.

Odin exchanged words with Tony who appeared forlorn, "I have placed a spell on her so she will not decay… I am deeply sorrowful for your loss, Man of Iron. Know that Asgard's gates are always open to you and your companions."

"Thank you, Allfather…" he stated as the two men shook hands.

When the entourage returned to Earth they were greeted by Phil Coulson, Maria Hill, and Nick Fury who informed Tony that Elsa would receive the highest commendation SHIELD could afford and with saddened hearts, the group reconvened at Avengers Tower where they sat; staring at the casket. Loki stood after a time and moved to the terrace where the sun began to set.

'Loki, I'm going to be honest with you… I think I'm crazy.'

'Why do you think this?'

'I have dreams of events that never take place… There are illusions of you… Illusions that frighten me to no end…'

'…I will be proud to call you my wife."

Loki shook his head clear of the memories that flooded his mind as he sat on a patio chair and gazed down at his ring while tears fell.

"Until the end of time… My love…"
