Chapter 14: The Guardians' Meeting, Sort Of.
Dumbledore shook his head, "No. The students are wary, dear boy. They do not trust Reborn, the man that simply appeared to be in Gryffindor just because we said so. Rumours are spreading and in such a confined castle like Hogwarts, no secrets can be kept for quite long, Tsuna."
Tsuna's eyes widened, "We have to sort Lambo in front of the whole school?" Tsuna felt his own heart beating frantically and he swallowed his fear. Reborn clucked his tongue and Tsuna knew that Reborn could sense his fear. He did not want Lambo to be sorted in front of the entire school. Imagine what could have gone wrong. Imagine all the things that could happen to Lambo. Lambo, his precious little brother…
Dumbledore nodded, "Yes, and not just that. We have to prove that he is worth being put into Hogwarts halfway through."
Tsuna knew what was coming next. Lambo had to go through the same torture he went through… and he was so so very reluctant but he managed to smooth his face to something that was in between a concerned brother and an indifferent boss.
"His flames have to be converted." A statement from Kyoya. Tsuna's heart was thumping wildly, now. If his heart was normally at 60 beats per minute, he was sure his heart was beating at 120 beats per minute. He could hear his own heart beating, and that could not have been good. At all.
"Yes, he will have to master Magic within a week," Severus answered, looking at the source of the statement. His eyes locked onto Kyoya and he raised his eyebrows.
"Hibari Kyoya."
"Severus Snape."
Kyoya nodded before swivelling his chair to look at Tsuna; It was a message that told Severus that he had no interest in him. Tsuna was dimly aware that Severus had smirked at the appearance of such a cool Muggle. Reborn was beside him and he could feel Reborn shifting in his seat. He had to answer… say something even though his lips were dry and his throat was dry and he wanted nothingmorebuttotakeLambooutofallofthis.
Tsuna blinked and took a silent deep breath before putting on an indifferent mask. Tsuna pursed his lips before rubbing his palms together. He gave a sideways glance at Reborn and the other man nodded.
"Well then, we cannot help it, right?" Tsuna did not feel like he was even speaking. That voice did not even sound like him. He was screaming now; he did not want any of his guardians to suffer but the thought of his Mist Guardian… His eyes hardened.
"No," Severus said, "He is not enrolling."
"Why?" Tsuna cocked his head. That was something he wanted to hear but definitely… He could not bear it but Lambo have to enrol. If not… Chrome…
There was still himself, Tsuna reassured himself, oddly not satisfying. He licked his dry lips and rested his chin on his palm, staring into the dark eyes of slimly man. He felt satisfied when the other man flinched a little before returning a cool gaze.
"He cannot even handle such an insult from me. How is he going to survive in Hogwarts?"
Dino-nii laughed from the end of the table. Tsuna laughed internally. Severus turned and asked politely, although Tsuna could see the man shaking slightly in irritation, "What are you laughing about, golden hair?"
Dino-nii stopped laughing, "Well, Lambo's back in the room but apparently, you have yet to realise it."
"'Sup." Lambo yawned from beside Severus. The other man's eyes widened slightly for a mere fraction and coughed (most probably to disguise his shock). Tsuna smiled, satisfied at how mature Lambo had grown. Perhaps mature was a wrong word but he was reassured, albeit just a little, but reassured all the same. Perhaps Lambo could survive in the harsh world, after all.
Perhaps.
Tsuna clapped his hands, "Well, now that introductions are over, or the lack thereof, which I couldn't be bothered with it because Mukuro is getting impatient (Mukuro was giving out his most devilish aura at this point) so shall we start meeting proper?"
"Excuse me."
"Yes?" Professor Sawada raised his eyebrows, turning around and looking at one Harry Potter.
Harry, at this point, was shuffling his feet and fiddling with his fingers. He glanced around at the corridors and noticed that Hermione and Ron was not there with him. He bit his lips again before looking up, right into the eyes of Professor Sawada. He looked right down again, at his shuffling feet as he felt his heart thumping wildly in his chest. The odd sensation made his fingers tingle with excitement—and fear.
"Do you have any problems?" A voice broke him out of his reverie and he dimly realised that he was still staring at his shoe. Has it been 1 minute? Or 5? Does Professor Sawada think that he is weird? What will he—
A warm hand landed on his shoulder, "Harry—", Harry jumped, "Come on now…"
Harry felt himself being pushed forward and he reluctantly dragged his feet. Where was Hermione? Ron? Where exactly were they? Where was he? Where—
"You're hyperventilating."
It was not a question, Harry realised, as he looked up at Professor Sawada. He glanced around, realising that he was no longer on the second floor corridor. The door right in front of him seemed oddly familiar. The wooden door… that painting…
Ah, Professor Sawada's office. Of course.
He was shuffled inside and Harry could feel his heart pumping wildly. He could hear his heart screaming at him, that this was all so so so wrong. He was dimly aware he had even taken a seat until a cup of hot cocoa (was it, now?) was shoved gently into his trembling hands.
And he definitely realise that his hands were trembling. How… embarrassing.
"What's the matter, now?" Professor Sawada had taken a seat across Harry, hands cradling a similar cup, except that it was orange.
Harry took deep breaths and he did not know how long he was in that same position. He was aware, not consciously, that his cup of cocoa was getting colder every minute. He looked up, finally, and stared into the brown orbs that was looking at him gently.
"Whatever you told me the last time…" Professor Sawada nodded, silently urging Harry to go on with his gentle brown orbs, Harry took a deep breath and went on, albeit more confidently, "Was it all true?"
Professor Sawada sighed, as if it was not the first time he went through this, "Yes, Harry." His eyes were grave and Harry felt his own hands shaking. His lips moved and he was mumbling, "But… isn't that…"
A warm hand touched his and Harry knew it was Professor Sawada's, even if he did not look up and was still staring at his cup of cocoa, now definitely cold.
"It's hard to accept, yes, but you need to—"
"Accept?" Harry felt his anger rising; the cup of cocoa now on the floor. The cup shattered into what seemed like a thousand pieces while the brownish liquid seeped into the carpeted floor.
"I can't just accept. It's just ridiculous! How can you—" Harry knew he was trembling; his lips were quivering but he continued, "How can you be a muggle? Why is your guardian now the snake that bit Mr Weasley, who is now lying in the hospital? Who—" Harry shook, "—who exactly are you?"
Mr Weasley's face, covered in blood, flashed across his mind. The snake, Chrome… him… had bitten Mr Weasley and it felt oddly satisfying. Fear flashed through his mind like lightning. He heard someone… a girl… screaming for help… for release. He knew, oddly enough, that the voice belonged to Chrome, Professor Sawada's Mist Guardian. He felt happiness from Voldemort and his head was bursting with emotions… Fear, happiness… helplessness.
Harry shook all of it off as he trembled slightly. His scar ached and he wanted release.
Professor Sawada stood up, "Seems like nothing went through your brain the last time we conversed," Professor shook his head.
"Harry, listen well…"
"Yes, Professor?" Harry knew something important and life-changing was going to happen. After all, Reborn did say that the next time they meet, they will tell him everything.
"I am…"
Harry glanced up and stared right into the eyes of his professor.
"I am a muggle."
"Huh?"
Tsuna sighed and sat back down on his couch, "Nagini… Chrome is my guardian. My guardian was captured and her soul was placed into Nagini… I am not just…" Tsuna had looked up but no one was standing there anymore.
"Harry?"
His guardian… This girl called Chrome is Voldemort's snake… She bit Mr Weasley, who is still in the hospital… and how dare he act so nonchalant!
"I'm angry as well, you know," Professor Sawada sighed deeply and with practiced, fluid motions, he waved his wand. The cup, now on the table, was repaired with no evidence that it had been shattered and the cocoa was cleared. Professor Sawada sat down heavily on the couch and gestured for Harry to do the same.
He resisted that kind gaze and stood his feet, biting his cheeks.
"Suit yourself," Professor Sawada sighed, once again. Under the light, now, Harry noticed the deep eye bags on the Professor's face. His lips were cracked and his eyes looked red—as if he had cried…
"I have no idea how Voldemort had managed to control my dear Chrome and placed her soul into his snake. I wish to know the answer as well, Harry." Professor's fingers clasped together, and Harry could see the strength in those lengthy fingers.
"I wished I knew," Professor's hollow voice echoed. He had threw his head backwards, now staring dimly at the chandelier on the ceiling.
"I want Chrome back…"
Harry felt his own heart sting. The professor sounded so heartbroken. His voice echoed sadness and helplessness.
Harry felt his own legs moving by themselves and he felt his own butt settling down on the couch opposite the professor. He lips moved and he did not know that he was speaking, for the voice that echoed sounded so much not like his. He was dimly aware that the professor had not even answered his questions. He had lots and lots of questions, all were swirling around in his mind, but none were surfacing. Instead, he uttered the very thing he wished he had not said, but knew there was no choice…
"How can I help?"
Harry slammed his fist down on the table and those occupants jumped badly, although Harry could care less. The Librarian turned towards and hushed them loudly.
"Where were you?" Harry asked hotly. Hermione and Ron glanced at Harry and Harry wanted to strangle both of them so badly. They do not even look the least guilty that they did not turn up.
"Where to?" Hermione squeaked, cowering a little.
"Where to?" Harry repeated, his anger rising again, "Where?"
"Hey mate, you gotta calm—"
"To Professor Sawada's office!" Harry shouted and lowered his voice when Madam Pince tutted and shushed them again – "Keep quiet, you lot! If not, get out!"—"I thought you guys said you're gonna be there!"
"Well…" Hermione gave Ron a sideways glance before swallowing, "We were discussing…"
"About?" Harry asked hotly.
"About Professor Sawada, of course." Ron supplied.
"And what about him?"
"Don't you think he is weird, Harry?" Hermione asked nervously, giving glances around as if she was afraid of being overheard and afraid of someone…
Or something.
Harry cocked an eyebrow. He looked and spotted no one around. He waved at Hermione to continue.
Hermione did not seem relaxed in the least but she continued anyway, "He has been sick for a few weeks and he mysteriously appears! In addition, that Reborn guy!"—Ron gulped—"He was just plain weird and scary! And have you heard?"
"About?"
"About a new kid enrolling!" Hermione answered, "Again!"
"Yeah," Ron said, speaking for the first time, "I've asked Percy and he told me that Hogwarts never—well, in his time and a few years back as well—ever accepted anyone in the middle of the year!"
"And?"
"And?" Hermione squeaked, "And this is totally weird, Harry! Don't you see that all these are happening ever since Professor Sawada entered the school?"
"Uh-huh."
"So stop seeing him!"
"You make it sound like he is my boyfriend or something, Ron."
"Or something sounds great, Potter."
Three heads turned quickly at the unknown source of voice. All three pairs of eyes widened fractionally before Hermione squeaked timidly.
"Professor…"
Chrome found herself asleep in the chambers. To be honest, Chrome had no idea where she was. She gave the chambers a few glances here and there and gave up. Her lips trembled as she shivered against the cold air in the chambers, which she had no idea where that came from. She closed her eyes and tried her best to summon her inner will to get her mist flames working. Her mist flames flared, albeit barely. The purple flames struggled to light up the room even though it became something like a prick of light. Chrome struggled to keep it alit, after all, she felt drowsy.
Why…
Bossu…
Harry found himself hanging on every word that Professor Sawada is saying. After all, the professor was giving such a weary look that everyone else in the room was sympathising him (as well as speculating what had happened to Professor Sawada).
Tsuna, on the other hand, was really tired. Despite everything, he did his best to teach the class the skills that they needed for Defence Against the Dark Arts. Obviously, Tsuna would have liked it if he spent the week in the school with no disruptions, or even the entire month, and simply just focus on the rescue mission. However, on the third day of the week, Tsuna found himself looking right into the eyes of Umbridge while marking his papers late that night. Giving the clock a quick glance, he plastered a smile on his face before asking kindly what Umbridge wanted.
"Good evening, Dolores. How are you?"
"A very good evening to you too."
Silence ensued and the only sounds that was heard were the sounds of the quill scraping against parchment. Tsuna was waiting for the woman to start speaking, and the woman was waiting for the man to speak first, as well. It seemed to be a waiting game, something like a Taekwondo Finals match, where the first to attack would almost the one who loses, and both of them refuses to be the one who loses.
Umbridge lost.
"Aren't you going to ask me what I want from you?"
"Well…" Tsuna looked right at Dolores, smile plastering his face, "What do you want from me, Dolores?"
"Offer me a seat, will you?" The pink woman huffed.
Tsuna stood up almost immediately, ushering the toad-like lady towards the couch that the man had in his office and promptly invited her to sit on it comfortably.
"I think that Potter is doing something against the ministry," stated Umbridge.
Tsuna had always prided himself with his diplomatic skills and not with the skills of the actor and hence was worried, even though he try his best to look surprised.
"Oh?" Tsuna raised his eyebrows and sipped onto the coffee that he had brought over from the table to the coffee table. The orange mug sat down on the table and Tsuna looked up, "What has this troublesome boy done now?"
"Well…" Umbridge stared into the doe eyes, "You tell me, Tsunayoshi."
"Me?" Tsuna was genuinely surprised.
"I saw you talking to them the other day."
"Ah." Tsuna nodded, "Potter's friends were saying that Potter might have a crush on me."
"And?" A chuckle left the toad's lips promptly.
"And, I told them that I beg to differ and obviously," Tsuna winked at the toad-like woman (even if it did give his own stomach a nervous and disgusted clench), "I pride myself on being the women heart's snatcher."
Umbridge giggled, which inevitably made Tsuna cringe, "Well Tsu-dear, I guess…"
They were interrupted by the rasp on the door. Tsuna gave a sigh of relief which went unnoticed while Umbridge was visibly annoyed.
"Tsu-dear, do you think you can help me open the door?"
Tsuna rasied his eyebrows and stared at his tea, "It kind of is my door, Dolores, and I think the student" – there were a flurry of knocks now- "can open it." Tsuna turned towards the door and yelled, "Enter!"
Malfoy barged into the room and was panting visibly. Perspiration was dripping from his forehead and his palms kneaded into his knees as he bent low to regain his breath. He looked up, when Tsuna was about to ask him, and he pointed outside, "Potter and his gang!"
Umbridge stood up, a smirk visible as she collected her wand, "What about them?"
"They are having a meeting!"
/
Tsuna almost rolled his eyes when Umbridge and he arrived at where the trio was having a "meeting". This little meeting was simply a study session in the library. Obviously, they had to be discussing things that were more than important and have conveniently forgotten that they did not ensured their own privacy.
"I am very very sure that they were having a meeting!" Malfoy spluttered.
"Oh yeah?" Harry challenged, "I doubt so!" He pointed around himself and placed his hands on his hips, "We are having a study session in the library!"
Tsuna sighed as the duo had another shouting match. Worst still, Granger and Weasley joined in. Tsuna was so thankful that Umbridge had gotten an urgent call from the Minister of Magic and rushed off.
"Ah, Tsuna dear, do you think you can catch Potter for me and place him in my office?"
Tsuna had laughed before asking her if she thought he was incapable of dealing with a brat. Her shriek after still gave him the creeps.
"Well! Of course not!" Umbridge had winked, "Tut. Tut. Off you go then, dear! I want to hear everything!" Her eyes twinkled evilly.
Educational decree twenty-four created this problem and Tsuna really did not understand what the use of that was. Tsuna turned and glanced at the books that were on the table and raised his eyes. He sighed internally at how careless Potter and his gang was.
"Five in a circle is a crime," Tsuna stated, successfully breaking up the squabble.
"What?" The four kids asked at the same time, after which they glared right at each other.
"I highly doubt," Tsuna turned to glance at Malfoy, "that three in a triangle in a library with books," Tsuna gestured towards the table, "is a crime, Mr. Malfoy."
"But!" Malfoy spluttered.
Tsuna raised an eyebrow.
"'All Student Organisations, Societies, Teams, Groups, and Clubs are henceforth disbanded. An Organisation, Society, Team, Group, or Club is hereby defined as a regular meeting of three or more students. Permission to re-form may be sought from the High Inquisitor (Professor Umbridge). No Student Organisation, Society, Team, Group, or Club may exist without the knowledge and approval of the High Inquisitor. Any student found to have formed, or to belong to, an Organisation, Society, Team, Group, or Club that has not been approved by the High Inquisitor will be expelled.' I believe that is the decree, Mr. Sawada."
"That's-!" Weasley cried.
Tsuna sighed internally before turning around, "Hi, Dolores."
Next Chapter: "What the fuck?"
