Me No Own HunterxHunter
Ghostly Friends
Silent Goodbyes and One Last thing, I've Missed You
Killua had turned around slowly with a small smile on his face that seemed to speak words, so many words that Gon couldn't and could never understand. Words that were too complicated to even speak, words that only Killua could smile with his beautiful bright blue eyes and the setting sun behind him. But words that would never be spoken as he slowly disappeared into a small white light, and blinking out of Gon's existence forever.
Gon stood in the doorway, his smile slowly turning into a frown as his heart plummeted into his stomach, Kurapika and Leorio now standing behind him, seeing just in time Killua's departure.
"Killua?" Gon asked softly as he stepped away from the house, staring at the spot his friend once stood. He blinked, hoping he saw wrong, hoping that Killua wasn't gone or that Killua had just disappeared and gone up to the attic. Yeah… maybe he went back to the attic!
With that thought in mind, Gon pushed his way past his two friends and ran back up to the attic, his heart dreading each step as something in his mind kept telling him that no, Killua wasn't going to be there and that he wouldn't ever be there again. But Gon couldn't help but hope. And that hope would soon be crushed when he looked at the empty window seat to see that it was empty, the setting sun now out of sight.
That light that Gon had last seen him disappear as was the last he'd ever see of him.
Gon walked back sadly to his house.
Killua was gone; the only friend that was his age was gone. He would never get to see him even if he traveled the world. He wasn't even part of it so it wasn't possible. And the worse thing was that Gon was too late to say goodbye. He only saw his friend disappear with a small smile and mouthed something he could not understand, then he disappeared and he knew that he would no longer see him. He knew it deep in his heart. But something told him he wouldn't see him now though, but many years from now he would see him but not when he was alive.
He trudged up the stairs to his room, his thoughts occupied with all the memories he shared with his friend, he barely noticed when he entered his room and tripped over something.
"Ow!" he exclaimed, rubbing his forehead from where it had connected to the ground. He didn't remember leaving something in the floor big enough to trip on; in fact Aunt Mito had him clean his room earlier.
Looking back he saw, in surprise, a familiar skate board peeking out from underneath his bed with a note sitting on top of it. He eased the skate board out from under carefully as if any more pressure on the thing would cause it to splinter and break in half. Once it was sitting in front of his cross legged form, he took the letter and unfolded it, something falling out and landing on his lap. It was an old picture of Killua, one that he remembered when he searched through Killua's scrapbook downstairs and told him it was his favorite. It was of Killua smiling happily at the camera maybe a few days before he died (Killua had told him he remembered it too cause he had just gotten a book he really wanted when his mom decided to take the picture) with a small white cat in the back ground grooming itself delicately. He flipped the picture over and noticed something new written on the back:
Don't Forget
It was written messily, but Gon could also tell it was recent. Smiling happily he set the picture on the ground and turned his attention to the letter, noticing that this was written back from when Killua was alive.
'Yo, Mr. Wing is forcing the class to write about something stupid, like, what do we want most in life. To tell the truth, I honestly don't know, nor do I care, but in the sake of getting a grade on this I guess maybe some cool game with real cool graphics, maybe some new chocolate invention, OH! Maybe a skateboard with jets on the bottom so I can fly to places! That'll be so cool! And if that doesn't get me a grade then I'll try to be more serious. The few things I actually want I guess is for someone to say "I'll miss you" sincerely or to actually have a friend, more than one is good too I guess and they can't be too annoying but I won't be picky, and my last want is to actually miss somebody, reason why is I don't have friends for one and never had in the first place, no one has ever said "I'll miss you" sincerely or anything and it'll be nice to hear it, and three I want to want to miss someone cause then I'll know I'll actually care for someone and my life isn't boring. Before this gets even stupider I'm going to stop here and eat some chocolate while hoping I'll at least get a decent grade on this stupid assignment, no harsh feelings Mr. Wing, but this is a stupid assignment.
-Killua Z. Feb. 6th, 1983'
Gon smiled. He felt way happier than he did now that he knew that all of Killua's wants in life had been fulfilled. It made him feel happier that Killua was able to leave the world with no regrets. Standing up he took the letter and photo of Killua and tapped them to his wall then walking back to the skateboard and leaned it gently on the wall.
"We'll meet again one day, I know it." as he turned around he thought he saw his mind playing tricks on him as he saw a familiar white head of hair, but it was only there for a split second.
Years Later
Gon stared out of his bedroom window feeling his energy draining as he did so. He was so old that he felt it in his bones and blood, even behind the lid of his eyes. But he didn't mind because each time he looked at the picture tapped on the wall facing his bed he would remember what would come after he was gone.
He had no family really since Aunt Mito was long dead and he hadn't found a wife, never was interested in one in the first place, nor had he any children. Kurapika and Leorio had died a couple years before him, Kurapika first, then Leorio two years after, so really, he was all alone, but not really since he talked to a few other folks at the nursing home he lived in.
As he felt his eyelids grow heavier he watched a white cat grooming itself on a branch outside his window, a honey brown one climbing up the tree sneakily to creep up on the other. He could no longer keep his eyes open after he watched the honey brown one scare the white one only to get an affectionate swipe on the head before all went black and he breathed his last.
No one would be able to see a young spiky haired boy with bright honey brown eyes as he stared to a white haired boy with blue eyes standing at the end of his bed with a blonde and black haired teenager smiling at him. The white haired boy was the first to take a step forward only to get tackled into a hug by the other, silent laughter coming from the two teens as they watched. Slowly the four disappeared and one thing was heard in the silent room, but it was so silent that even if there was anybody in there, it wouldn't of been heard.
"I missed you."
