Isabelle and Colby spent their week happy. There wasn't an argument and Colby was more than attentive to Isabelle's needs. He had to stop and sign a couple things and take a couple pictures, but it was something that she had adjusted to and didn't mind. If she didn't like it she wouldn't be with him, and she couldn't always command his attention twenty-four/seven. She didn't want to.
But, as always, vacations come to an end and Isabelle was packing up her bag before their second to last night in their little corner of paradise. Colby had to take a work phone call so he was downstairs on the couch, but she didn't mind. He was working his way up to being a top dog in the company and she wasn't going to stop him or be an obstacle in his path to immortality.
But it was when Colby came up the stairs with a guilty look on her face that Isabelle groaned. She knew that look. She didn't like that look.
"Let me guess, we need to check out tonight."
"Yeah. I need to fill in for Swagger at a signing tomorrow morning." Colby said as he flopped onto the bed and she continued to go about packing.
"Well, it's a good thing I started packing already." Isabelle sighed, avoiding eye contact with her boyfriend as she continued her packing.
"Are you mad at me?"
"No, Colby, I'm not mad at you." Isabelle mumbled, not bothering to look at him. "You should start packing."
"Look at me, Isabelle." Colby requested and she only started folding a tshirt before he snatched it from her.
"That was rude."
"Stop being passive aggressive."
"I'm not being passive aggressive."
"Then fucking look at me so you can see how sorry I am, babe." Colby demanded as he stood up, now having Isabelle's full attention. "I never meant for our vacation to be cut short. Trust me, I didn't want this."
"I know you didn't, Colby. It was fun while it lasted, and I don't think I could ask for much more than this. I'm actually surprised that you weren't called sooner." Isabelle spoke honestly, placing her hands on his chest.
"I'll make this up to you, Isabelle."
"I know you will, Colby. You always do."
Colby hated that their vacation was cut short right before he was about to propose. He had it all mapped out, and now he had to re-plan everything. What made it worse was that Isabelle was being so quiet. The woman who didn't like sleeping in the car was fast asleep and he thought that it was her way of avoiding him without making much of an effort.
So he drove in almost absolute silence. The music was playing low enough that he could barely hear it and he heard the sounds of the freeway around them, but he wasn't focusing on anything but the road ahead of them. He'd periodically glance over at Isabelle and consider giving her the box in his pocket casually, but always decided against it.
"Colby." Isabelle mumbled and he glanced over at her as he pulled into their driveway, but she was still sleeping soundly.
"Izzy, we're home." All he got in response was a small groan and he couldn't help but smile at her. His girlfriend was cute.
Isabelle vaguely recognized that she was being carried up the stairs, but she thought nothing of it and went back to sleep once her head hit her pillow. Colby only smiled and kissed her forehead before heading down to the car to get their suitcases. Once everything was properly locked up he went upstairs to take off Isabelle's shoes before he collapsed into bed beside her. A frown had settled on her face and it made him wonder what she was dreaming about, and he made a note to ask her about it before he left in the morning for the signing.
"Why are you staring at me?" She mumbled, opening one eye.
"You were frowning."
"I had a dream. No big deal."
"I had a dream, Isabelle." Colby mumbled, reaching out to push her hair out of her face.
"Hm?"
"A dream where you and I got married, and I really want that to happen. So, I got to thinking: how do I get married to a beautiful woman like Isabelle Marie Collins?"
"Colby-"
"I'm telling a story, Izzy, you're being rude. Anyways, I made myself a little checklist with Kevin. Number one on the checklist was make sure that Jon approved of me marrying you. Two was actually get a ring, and that one was hard because salesmen can be so judgmental in appearance and really rude, you have no idea. Step three was to actually propose, and that one is actually the hardest part because you don't want it to be too cheesy, but you have to make sure that it'll me something that she'll always remember."
"Colbybear-"
"Hang on. I've got to do this right." Colby interjected, rolling over her to kneel beside the bed. "I had a plan to do this while we were at Disney World. Tomorrow, actually. It was all figured out and I was going to make it cute as hell and yeah." Isabelle, being at a loss for words, could only nod as she sat up and watched him dig through his pockets. It wasn't long before he produced the small black box and she let out a small gasp when he opened it and revealed the ring.
"Isabelle Marie Collins, will you do me the honor of being my wife?"
"Colby, I don't know what to say."
"You could say 'yes'." Colby joked and she smiled, nodding when he reached for her left hand. "Sweetheart, say something."
"Colby Lopez, I would be honored to be your wife."
"You make me the happiest man alive, Izzy. Please don't you ever forget that." Colby spoke softly as he slid the ring on her finger and she smiled when he pulled her into his lap.
"I never will."
"All I have to say is its about damn time that boy put a ring on it." Joe commented, seeing the picture Colby put on twitter of himself and Isabelle with the ring.
"He technically put a ring on it in July." Jon commented and Joe shrugged as Natalie walked over.
"Did you guys hear about Colby and Isabelle?" She asked as she sat down with them and Jon nodded with a proud smile. "It's such a beautiful ring."
"I saw it when he bought it." Jon stated, looking over at Natalie's phone to see her texting Isabelle. Word had been buzzing around the backstage area all day about the newly engaged couple, and they hadn't gotten to the arena yet. "He went to Tiffany."
"Holy shit. Really?" Brie asked as she and Bryan sat down and Jon nodded. "Bry, did you see the size of the rock?"
"I did. He also sent me a picture before he proposed." Bryan informed and Brie slapped his arm.
"Why didn't you tell me he was proposing?"
"Because he asked me to keep it a secret."
"I did." Colby chimed in and everyone turned to face him and Isabelle, who were holding hands.
"Congrats, you two!" Natalie said, standing and hugging the two. "I think we need some girl talk time, Izzy."
"We so do." Brie agreed, standing up and smoothing out her dress as she pulled Isabelle and Natalie away to a table on the other side of the room. Colby would never get used to her being pulled away from him, but he didn't mind it. Seeing the gold around her left ring finger from across the room while she probably told the story of how he proposed with a smile on her face. He liked being the cause of that smile and he knew that he would be making her smile for the rest of their lives.
