Chapter 9

To say that the whole incident on the 12th of November hadn't surprised me would be one of the biggest lies I had ever not told. I had been waiting, hoping and maybe praying a little that Teddy would give me some kind of attention during those long hours together but I never wanted what I ended up getting.

A kiss is something simple for most people. It is something which too many people give out too easily not really knowing the effect it may have on the other. It is something that you do at the beginning of a date, at the end and maybe even a few times in the middle. It is something which usually means nothing. However for me a kiss means something more than just a straightforward tap on the lips, it shows interest and it shows a few signs of actual adoration.

So when Teddy kissed me I knew that, for him, it was a simple test. To see whether he was still interested. To see if he still had something there for me. I on the other hand don't take kisses too lightly- I am not my sister. When Teddy kissed me I knew that, for me, it was a magical moment if you do forgive the pun. The last time Teddy kissed me was on my 17th birthday which also was the last time he said he loved me. I guess that is why I associate kissing with feelings because that was something Teddy taught me. He would kiss me and then tell me he loved me, like a two-for-one-deal.

Therefore being prepared for an 'I love you' after the gentle kiss behind the wooden door of the detention room after everyone had left was not completely unreasonable. However as always with this new Teddy I was surprised, receiving nothing but a funny look and a swift exit. So one may call me desperate or winey but at least I had reason for my assumptions.

...

I didn't end up going to detention on the 19th of November because they had been cancelled indefinitely after Ashley Jameson took full blame for out little incident on the Quidditch pitch. At first I was shocked to hear of her confession but after finding out that she would be spending all of her Friday evenings with Teddy until the middle of March I was no longer surprised. If you were to say that I was being jealous I would agree but all I should say was I am glad that I have freed up my Friday evenings for more Teddy mopping.

And so that is what I did for my previously taken three hours, in my dorm with my good friend Dairy Milk. I sat and revised, I sat and ate and I sat and tried to engage in the conversation Kimberly was trying to have with me.

"So I heard Ashley Jameson," she went on, over enhancing the witch bitch's name in the hope's that I may actually pay attention to her, "saying that she and Teddy were working together in the classroom on her Defence Against the Dark Arts homework and he told her that he thought she looked nice. I also heard that Teddy kissed some student behind a door last Friday."

"Uh huh, Kim that sounds very intriguing but I really couldn't care less about Jameson. She can say whatever the hell she wants to say," I replied barely looking up from my Charms homework which was supposed to be handed in on Monday but I had barely started.

"Toire I think you misheard me, Teddy kissed some student after our detention on Friday. A STUDENT, Vic, like one of us," Kimberly accentuated, pulling my homework out of my lap and throwing it onto the floor.

"Hey!"

"So who do you think it was? I think it could have been Ashley from what she was saying, but I also heard that Naomi Yale asked his for some help on Friday and everyone knows how big a slut Naomi is."

"Naomi is actually really nice Kim, don't judge a book by its cover."

"Vic she is a Hufflepuff! I am in no way judging her by her yellow and black cover!"

"Fine then, don't judge a book by its reputation. If everyone judged you on what other people say then you wouldn't have any friends."

"That's not fair," she said, flopping down further into the bed, "I am not as big a bitch everyone makes out."

"I know that but if people just listened to the rumours saying that you were no one would talk to you. You're just proving my point, you know that right?" I went down to the floor and picked up my textbook before placing it safely back on my lap.

"Why do you always have to be right?"

"It's a Weasley thing."

Kimberly chuckled under her breath and sighed deeply watching me almost too intently. She then proceed to pick at the blanket sitting on my bed that Grandma Molly made me when I first joined Hogwarts. It was always way too big and even now with both me and Kimberly underneath it we had room for at least another person. It wasn't until she started pulling at the stitching that I huffed in defeat.

"Kim what is it?" I asked pulling my blanket out from her hands.

"I just want to talk to you and have a normal girlie conversation about the mystery of Teddy's secret kisser but you won't join in."

"Fine Kim you win. Who do you think it was?" I breathed out a little too angrily, as I was so hoping to avoid this conversation from the start.

"Well it has to be someone who was at the detention with us I think because Teddy goes straight back his sleeping quarters after detention," I raise my eyebrow at her, "I didn't stalk him promise, I just needed help with something and I followed him back."

"Right okay, we are presuming it's a girl right unless I really did do something wrong," I added only joining in to seem less suspicious.

"Yes Vic, have a little faith. So that leaves; you, me, Dominique, Roxanne, Ashley Jameson, Madison whoever the Slytherin Seeker and Lucy."

"Yeah, well Roxanne pretty much legged it out of the room as soon as the time was up and Dominique was messing around with James and Fred."

"Lucy was talking to Madison on the way out about something, they share a room together and I think Luce wanted to know if she was allowed to paint Madison's side of the dorm. I left early because McGonagall wanted to see me and Ashley was just behind me," she sighed loudly, "That's it there is no one left, no one could have kissed Teddy. I am mean of course there was you but..."

I looked down, unable to make eye contact with my best friend. She laughed softly before noticing my change in body language, her face contorted into the most shocked expression I had ever seen her wear.

"No Vic you didn't... god are you really that stupid... you kissed Teddy?"

...

The first time I saw Teddy after my confession to Kimberly about our late night kiss was in the Great Hall at breakfast the next morning. He did acknowledge my presence and even smiled at me, which earned both of us a Medusa-style glare from Kimberly.

We took our normal seats in the centre of the Ravenclaw table and were soon joined by our fellow house mates. If any of them noticed the conflict between Kimberly and me they didn't mention it and continued with their seemingly normal breakfast.

"So I heard the other day that you guys got off detention, is that true?" Molly asked us while stacking her plate with toast and bacon.

"Yeah, Jameson admitted that it was all her fault and she is taking over the detentions for all of us," Kimberly replied trying to ignore the pile of eggs that Lysander had piled on her plate. "Turns out that she wanted to take the fall for us so she could spend more time with Teddy."

"Oh yeah I heard about that, Emily Frank was talking about that this morning while I was waiting for Jessica. Apparently they kissed last Friday after your detention ended but it's just a rumour, Teddy wouldn't damage his chances as staying on as a teacher here just to kiss some student. And if he was to pick one I am sure it wouldn't be Ashley 'the slut' Jameson."

"Yeah if he was to pick anyone it should at least be someone that he actually cares about," Kimberly sent a scowl in my direction, to which I rolled my eyes at, and then quickly removed it before anyone else noticed.

"Yeah, well who cares about Teddy, James was telling me..."

And on Molly and the rest of the gang went, talking about things which could barely keep my interest for more than five seconds. Apparently, according to Lysander, Lorcan and Naomi Yale were caught kissing in the broom cupboard this morning by Flitch and currently going to have to spend the rest of their weekend organising it. I received an 'I-told-you-so' glower from Kimberly after the news but she laughed it off. Rose was out of the hospital wing permanently, finally, after Hermione requested that she get back to her studies. And so on...

...

"'Victoire I was wondering if I could see you in my office about the essay that you wrote recently. It's nothing to worry about but just thought it would be best'? Seriously, Vic, you buy that bullcrap?"

Breakfast was well over and lunch was soon approaching on this horrible November morning. Kimberly and I were sitting in the Common Room in our favourite spot at the fireplace instead of our usual spot outside on the grounds due to the truly torrential rain pouring outside. I had just received an owl from Teddy asking to go and see him in his office which Kimberly was less than impressed about.

"Kim, there is nothing to buy. He has asked me to see him in his office about my paper. That's it. Jeez Kim, have a little faith, I do know that kiss was a mistake." I quickly exited the Common Room without looking to see the reaction on my best friends face.

The corridors were packed to the brim and I could barely put my foot down without standing on someone. The rain had forced everyone inside the castle and I wasn't sure that even Hogwarts had enough space for all these students.

"Oh my god I am so sorry, I didn't see you there," I said, stepping on yet another third year in the past five steps.

"It's okay, I was in your way," he rubbed his leg hard as I tried to get passed him.

When I finally reached Teddy's door I had over three bruises the size of my fist growing and turning purple on different places of my body. I knocked gently on the door before taking a step back to comfort my wounds.

"Victoire please come in."

I looked up at and gave one more rub to the growing green lump on my left arm before walking into his office. It was on the smaller side as offices go but it felt cosy and homely. There was nothing on the walls but Teddy's desk was filled with papers and photo frames, most containing pictures of him and the Potters but there was one of a couple who I recognised as his parents by his mothers bright pink hair.

He smiled softly and offered me a seat as he took his own. He flicked through some papers on his desk and pulled out one placing it on top of all the others.

"Okay, as I said you have nothing to worry about with this test I think it was just a misunderstanding of the question. You did not fail the paper but you also did not answer the question properly. So I have decided it would probably be best if you just did the essay again in your own time and handed it back to me when you are finished," I opened my mouth as if to say something but he stopped me adding, "I know that you are getting a lot of work from your other teachers but this does count to something. I know that you simply made a mistake and that this isn't a proper example of your abilities so I would like it if you could try again. Okay?"

I nodded and quickly said before he could stop me, "Is that everything, sir? You didn't want to say anything else because I really must get back to my Charms essay."

I waited for him to reply and say something, anything about what happened but he didn't. He just looked straight at me not saying a thing.

He took a deep breath in before quickly requesting: "Victoire you cannot tell anyone."

I swore for a second I stopped breathing before I nodded even though he had never asked me a question.

"I know that it was wrong and that I shouldn't have done it. I am your teacher and you are my pupil, nothing else. I know my actions are unthinkable and if anyone found out I would be fired and I need this job Vic."

I nodded again.

"Even if I did have feelings for you, Victoire, I could not act on them. I think it would be best for both of us if we simply forgot about this matter and maybe even forget that we used to... " He stopped and looked up at me, my face was neutral. "Do you understand?"

"I understand, Professor."

A/N: Reading over reviews and comments from other people have helped me realise that the approach I was going to go for in this chapter was impossible so I decided to take this route. If you don't like it then I am sorry but I did feel it was really needed. However though this has happened it does not mean that Teddy and Victoire are done for.

I was originally deciding on doing a squeal to this story but sitting now and reading over it I have decided that I will join up the two stories as they do connect. This means that this fanfiction will be longer but hopefully more will happen it later chapters compared to the nothingness that has been happening in these chapters.

I am also thinking of rewriting this story, obviously after I have finished it, because reading over it again I am not exactly happy about it. I was just wondering what your opinions on that may be. I will be keeping some chapters probably exactly the same but I will make others longer and add more chapters in between. Opinions?
