Lovely work, dear! I never really thought about it, maybe because Susan's farewell happened so quickly (so it seemed to me at least), but yes it must have been an enormous change for her, settling down like that.
I love how your fic reflects how she is very strongly rooted (see what I did there? :P) in the past, but that she's at the same time moving forward.
