Reviews for The Traveler in Arendelle
Idiom Investigator chapter 42 . 6/18/2019
*SPOILERS FOR FIRST-TIME READERS*

...And once again it's a few months later with a new trailer prompting my return. I swear it's not intentional. (In fairness I've had some personal things going on the past few months and everything has just been very weird. I do plan to finish the re-read though.)

Also, fun fact: I accidentally re-read the previous chapter and was very confused about why the deja vu was so strong.

Seeing Alexis go into town is good, she needs some friends, or at least acquaintances, outside the castle. It was nice to see that things with Mr. Anderson are improving. I don't know if I could ever really be friends with him though, he was REALLY harsh on her. If it were me I don't think I'd feel very safe around him again.

The scene with Elsa and Alexis at the end is very interesting. On the one hand, I have a lot of experience being in dressing rooms where everyone is helping each other undress (read: frantically ripping clothes off) for completely innocent reasons. So any scene where helping take clothes off is A Big Deal is automatically funny to me personally. On the other hand, it makes total sense in context, particularly for those two. This kind of thing had been building for a while, and I really appreciate how both of them responded. Most stories I've read skip over that middle ground where the characters feel things, but aren't ready to go that far yet. So it's really refreshing to see that done here. Plus, they are in a delicate situation with their relationship, so it makes even more sense.

Elsa's reaction was great. Being so isolated would definitely have had an impact on this part of her life, not just in what she's experienced, but also (and possibly more importantly) in what she'd imagined for herself. I liked the note about how she was questioning Alexis's intentions, even though she knew she was an honorable person. That's a pretty healthy response, I think. Alexis is much more socially experienced than her. For Elsa to be self aware enough to ask herself that kind of question and also examine it objectively shows growth on her part.

Also, the lady who sold Alexis the pants without judgement is the real M.V.P. of this story.

O.K, hopefully the next break won't be too long, but rest assured I WILL come back regardless.
