Wow I blew through those chapters in one sitting. There's this rawness and realness in this story that's so compelling and it's something I haven't seen often enough on this site. Great job with the characterization of Daphne and Slytherin. And Teddy trying to be sneaky.
I'd love to see a chapter from Ginny's point of view as well. I mean, she has to have at least some clue as to what's going on, right?

The only thing that sticks out to me is the ostensible dichotomy of being either married or not together (at least for Harry). Can he and Daphne be together in all ways but official marriage and both be satisfied? Maybe it is something that he's thought about a great deal.

I really enjoy this story, and I'm glad that you've updated again, but I must say, the non-linear nature of it is killing me. I just want to find out what happens!
Let me see if I can muster a basic timeline: Harry Potter leaves the Aurors (Chapter 2), and decides to become a Healer (Chapter 9), meeting Daphne Greengrass there. Soon after, they become involved (chapter 10), and enter an on/off relationship for some 8 years (2002/3-December 2010) (Chapter 3&7), consisting of 48 failed proposals, during which Harry is promoted to Head of Trauma and Daphne leaves St. Mungo's to become Hogwarts' Matron. Daphne and Harry break it off for good at the end of 2010, whereupon Harry goes back to Ginny (Christmas 2010), dates her, gets engaged (Chapter 4) and married (May 2011, chapters 5, 6, 8). But during his Honeymoon (in its first week) he claims his inheritance and becomes Lord Black and Potter, and goes off to rescue Daphne from a fall in Roma.

But if so... well, the desired (and anticipated, dare I say it) ending is Harry and Daphne getting married. And the fact that he can divorce Ginny makes it feasible, as well as the fact that he ditched her on their honeymoon, which even makes it seem likely. And why else would he claim his titles and position, if not to give himself such standing that Daphne doesn't have to fear being Andromeda - being of such high stature that none would dare gainsay her marriage?
But chapter 1 seems to happen after chapter 8, when Harry is still head of Trauma, Daphne is the Hogwarts Matron, but Harry is still married to Ginny. And chapter 8 ends with Daphne disappearing on him again, after telling him they can't.
So how will this ongoing tragedy/romance end? Is there any chance for a happy ending, for Daphne and Harry having their future together? Arithmantically speaking (and we know Daphne puts great stock in it, as we see from her tossing quarters), 49 is a hugely powerful number - 7 times 7, so it seems almost required for that proposal to work - which would be the next proposal. Will that proposal ever come? Will Daphne ever recant? Will Harry ever try again?
I guess that's what most concerns me about this story. I really enjoy it, each and every chapter, and Daphne and Harry are wonderful together - but it would a horrid disappointment, almost a betrayal, to learn that all the build up and all their good time sand relationship resulted in nothing more that an enduring friendship and the pleasure that was then - because Harry remains married to Ginny, and Daphne never accepts his proposal.
In any case, I hope to see more of it soon, and would be incredibly grateful for an answer, if you have one. Thank you for the joy this story has brought me, Meneldur.

I really enjoy your characterization of Harry and Daphne and their interactions with each other. Every chapter you post leaves me with more questions unanswered and hungry for more. Good luck with your university thesis, I can understand where you're coming from as I'm currently in the same boat struggling to find time to write my own!

Hey! I had kinda forgotten about this little series. Glad to see an update, it's always nice to see good authors come back to a story after disappearing for so long. I can't wait to see more!

I generally am not into romance, but when good ones, like your fic, comes my way I cannot help but love it to death. I just love how you portray this couple, it's fluffy in a good amount and the conflicts are portrayed in a very believeable way.
