Samama Panunu chapter 16 . 10/16/2016 Last time I read this I do believe that it was the last chapter I gave up on the story when you had the power puff girls show up. I don't think I even made it to the bottom of the page for the April fools joke. I sure missed out on a great story with what I'm going to assume an amazing ending, that I'm glad to be rereading this again. |
Guest chapter 41 . 6/25/2016 I really enjoyed this series. I love the plot, and character development, and the happy ending. Not to mention the fact that it is impossible to kill Zim! Good job, this was a fun read.:) |
knAngel18 chapter 41 . 9/24/2015 Well, I finally did it! I've been following the Resilience series since 'Mekrelmar' and I have finally finished the whole thing! (Wish I had read this sooner but better late than never, right?) So since I just finished reading all six in one go, I am going to review them as a whole instead of just this one story: Overall, I love this series. I've been following your work for a long time and I can always expect a good read whenever I go to your page. Danem was was, by far, my favorite of the series. I loved the twist of Red being Zim's father and that he was also reformed into a good person like Zim was. His relationship with Gloria was really interesting to read about, and I found myself hooked despite myself. I liked that we got a more inside look into Gloria's thoughts during the last three stories. I thought her stages of growth and forgiveness toward Red were really well written. I always loved Zim's relationship with his adopted family (It's what got me hooked to this series in the first place) and how they stuck by him through everything. And, while his change into a better person seemed a little rushed to me now that I read Maneem over again, I still found it very enjoyable. Zim and Dib's bond was my favorite in the series. You wrote their relationship really well, as they started off hating each other, than gradually becoming best friends, and than later brothers. It didn't seemed rushed or forced at all and the progression flowed very naturally. I also liked how you portrayed Gaz in this series. She loved her family but she was still very dark, as she should be. Her as a Morflar really suited her character and gave her more depth than just being Dib's mean little sister. The twist in the end that HIM was the the big bad evil villain the whole time was awesome! I really was not expecting it at all! Well, I guess I kinda did when I saw that Zaygam was a crossover with the PPG but still! Loved it! Now, with all that in mind, the only thing I didn't really like was your oc character Riddick. You had been hinting at the chance of one of Zim's siblings surviving for a while so when he was introduced into the story, I was not surprised when we found out that he was one of them. (Personally, I was kinda hoping it would be Tak since she would be somewhat similar to Gloria with her purple eyes and all but I think that's mostly the fangirl in me speaking lol). Let me be clear, I really didn't mind him when he was introduced in Scarazial. I really did think he was interesting but I wasn't very invested in him. His story seemed really rushed to me. First he's seems really emotionless and cold while trying to kill Zim and Gloria and than almost just like that he is reformed and trying to save everyone. Furthermore, I especially didn't like that so much focus was on him in Zaygam. The majority of the story was mainly from his point of view when I felt, since it was the last of the series and all, that the focus should have been mainly on Zim. Oh jeez and don't even get me started on the relationship between him and Blossom! Don't mind the pairing, I love unusual matches like that, but I am not a fan of the whole love at first sight thing. Again, it seemed very rushed to me. Now why did I not like the story focused on him when I didn't mind all the times it was focused on Gloria? My only guess is that she had been around longer in the series and I grew to enjoy her character a lot overtime. I guess Riddick was entered too late into the series so I never really had the chance to build that reader/character bond with him. (I hope that makes sense...) Regardless of my dislike of Riddick, the ending of the series totally made up for it to me! Everything from everyone having families to Zim's aging and then death was just written perfectly! Hey, anything that can make me shed some tears is a winner in my book! Sorry, I hope you don't mind this super long review but I felt this series deserved it instead of my one-sentence-long reviews that I usually give people. Maneem was probably one of the first stories that I read when I first found this site and it opened me up to the world of fanfiction! That sounds really corny but its true! This won't be the last time I read this series and I will look forward to whatever else you publish in the future! Forever your fan! - KN |
whovianfangirl chapter 41 . 8/5/2015 OH MY GOD IM CRYING I CANT BELIEVE ITS OVER AND IM JUST ALL OVER THE PLACE GOSH |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/17/2015 Holy Invaders... You are amazing for writing this. Normally I wouldn't review or finish a series this long but this was worth every hour I spent reading and every tear shed. I applaud you on many levels and will gladly support you in the near future (when I have job) in whatever you are now drawing, writing, or doing in general. -Hatter Vic (not my account that's (maidy)) |
Cinnamon roll sadist chapter 34 . 9/20/2014 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT WASN'T LETTING ME POST TWO REVIEWS! plan B: post it on the climax chapter. this story is on my best in the universe list. way up there with Ender's Game and Warriors! as difficult as it was, you kept Zim pretty damn Zim, although as the plot got more and more complex and Zim started becoming more sane it was necessary to create Resisient Zim. who i love. usually the introduction of OCs scares me away some, but Tom, Della, Mikko, and Tianna, and then later Riddick and Gloria blended in so well and were so deeply developed it was like they'd been there all along. their introductions were also timed perfectly, as with every other new character added. the plot had a perfect tempo(is that correct terminology? not sure. oh well) and grew bigger and bigger at a steady, riveting pace that kept me up late into the night reading this fic. it's like bookworm-fangirl nip! not to mention the effort and creativity put into the design and lore for the Morflar. they began as these unkillable irken eating monsters that i immediately took to hating, but then by the next part of the story had become something more. just by revealing Gaz as one i instantly softened a LOT, and as you developed them more and more i came to like them. by the time i got to the end, and especially with all of the holes in their science filled in, i ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM. in fact i just realized that every previously antagonistic character in the series save for HIM has been able to go from unforgivable jerk to somebody i love and cheer for and worry out. it's amazing. you've got some crazy skill to be able to take a power-high rapist and turn him into the Red we know and adore now, or take cannibalistic, kind of snobby and sadistic Riddick and find Zim's traumatized brother underneath it all. *drowns you in more praises* ALL HAIL HECALLS AND HER AWESOME AUTHOR SKILLS! HUZZAAHHH! *takes up knightly pose and waves sword in show of loyalty* |
Cinnamon roll sadist chapter 40 . 9/20/2014 this made me cry so hard that i actually couldn't read because of the tears clouding my vision XD SO BRILLIANT. CHILD, SHTAHP BEING SO DAMN GOOD AT MESSN' WITH MY FEELINGS |
Cinnamon roll sadist chapter 41 . 9/20/2014 damn you're good. |
grandvizier527 chapter 41 . 9/17/2014 So, Gaz consumed Zim to get rid of his bad memories? How nice of her! I assume she'll spit him back out at some point, and then he'll be better, and hopefully younger. It's nice that Riddick has been able to settle down with Blossom (I presume), although I'm not sure what an Irken-superhuman child would look like. And as for the series as a whole...what more can I say that I didn't say before in my OTHER fountain of praise?! The characters were amazingly well-developed, each one unique, and the line between canon and OCs blurred. The interesting thing is, most fanfics are judged by how "in-character" the characters are. Here, given the plot circumstances, the canon characters didn't get to express much of it, but the story was so compelling, amazing, dark and heartwarming (all at the same time) that it didn't matter. You took the molds and shaped them into something even better than they were before. I mean, I think I once tried to explain the premise of this to my brother, and he just laughed. Just like with Ayam, the premise sounds weird and a little absurd. But you pulled it off so wonderfully! I'm not really into the whole "take a fanfic and make it original by changing names and traits" thing, but you could probably pull it of here! If you were to change the plot differently, though-like, use the story as a base and then change a few things around to make it more original-that would be great! I'm also glad I got to contribute just a little by giving some tips on fight scenes (which you followed). The only problem is that at the end, it seemed like the focus shifted from Riddick to Zim. Riddick is a great character, full of charm and honor despite his dark past, but since Zim was the protagonist before, I felt it was more fitting for him to finish off HIM than Riddick. Regardless, though, Riddick kind of had to replace Zim, given the plot, and he did so perfectly. Blossom and HIM's arrival in the story was fairly seamless, albeit unexpected. I don't know much about HIM, but given what I understand he was a great villain to have to be revealed, and my guess was you had planned on using him long before the reveal. Blossom was great, too, and she contributed a lot and helped to "attach" HIM to the story just by being there and having suffered at his claws before. Riddick certainly needed a love interest, too, just to help him on his path to recovery from everything he had to experience. All in all, this series was amazing. I can confidently say it's the best IZ fanfic on the site, unless there's some other one I should know about by someone else. |
TheCartoonPrincess chapter 41 . 9/17/2014 I love the meaning of Zaygam. I noticed you hadn't told us at the start of this story, but I guessed you wanted to wait. Well it was worth the wait. I pretty much said how I felt about this series in my last review (because I thought it was the end... my bad), but I will say it again. Thank you for writing what I think is the best IZ fanfiction series ever. Seriously, no one else would have your patience, determination, and... resilience! I only started reading this series this summer, but I wish I could have been there from the beginning six/seven years ago. I wasn't even aware fanfiction existed then, and IZ was just a memory of a cartoon I watched as a kid. I'm sad and happy at the same time about Zim. It's confusing me how I should feel, because he will die, but he will reincarnate... It's really beautiful that the hard, stoic Gaz will choose Zim as her son (well his memories) but won't that still be Zim in a way? I'm not sure what is what. Soul or memories? It's hypothetical. If a body expires, and they're memories live on (like say in a computer) but their soul is up in heaven. So who is who? (Who's the real Zim?) Like there was Dib and the Dibship, which was similar, but that's technology (hi tech and sci-fi though)... I'm just waffling now. I like to think it's Zim's soul too (including his memoires), so it is the real Zim. I'm a believer in reincarnation. Well there are many other things I'm sad about (a good, happy sad though). Red is still the Tallest, and keeping Gloria's memory alive and making sure all her changes come into effect. And whenever Tallest Red lives out his life term, the next Tallest must keep those changes... Then there's knowing that Dib and Mikko's children will move on (they're progeny) and GIR will protect them for an eternity (or however long he lives), and there will come a time when Dib and Mikko's children's children's children (generations will have passed, I'm sure you get it) won't have any memory of why some strange, blue-eyed child is protecting them. Unless Zim's legacy goes down in history, which I'm sure it will... In a way, he is still protecting his future progeny (Dib’s his brother, but they’re not his children, directly). I’m talking in terms of genes. There's a name for that in Zoology (I studied Zoology) 'Kin Selection'. It goes on, but basically an animal may not have its own offspring but choose to protect that of its siblings, or littermates, so it still know its genes will survive… It's seen in African Wild Dogs (sorry, I'm a bit of a naturalist, and a nerd…) I’m sure his Irken genes will live on in Riddick and Blossom’s kids too (and Bubbles and Buttercup’s!). They won’t need protecting though… They’re also Tallest Red and Gloria’s genes too, let us not forget (and Ivan’s in Dib’s children too). Family trees are complex things… You should draw it! The family tree I mean. I should also say, but RIP Della and Tom. They're passing was sudden, but they left a legacy... My review is finally over. I’m so sad this story is finished. It’s bitter sweet, when you think back to Zim in the first story (Maneem) and see how far he came… Long live Invader Zim! In a way, your story is a brilliant metaphor for the IZ series in general. Resilient, refuses to die, and every ten years or so, a new wave of IZ fans will appear (ones who weren't even born yet in 2001). Ironic, hey... So, I will be keeping up with you and your stories. When I get the chance to write more IZ fics (and that little one we discussed) I will plug your revamp for you and spread the word. It's the least I can do. Thank you again for writing my favourite stories. |
wolfmoonsshadow chapter 41 . 9/17/2014 I love that ending. The idea that Zim will come back, and it can be a good life this time around. You can always make the argument that it won't really be him; but what are we but a collection of memories and thoughts? Who's to say that, that isn't the essence of a soul? If that's the case, then it would be him. I like that ending |
Kazehana23 chapter 41 . 9/16/2014 *Rises from the reviewer grave* Whew, that was one crazy ride of a series XD I see what you did there Child! Nice way into transitioning characters! Zayg, you even wrote the meaning to his name! XD And hello fellow reviewers! I was MIA in reviewing Child's stories because I've been helping out with revamping the series so we are now going to transition further into the more original content so come one come all and get ready to enjoy the show! Trust me on this, the new version isn't like the Zim-version at all in fact it's waaaaay better! So help us out with our campaign and if you can't donate help spread the word! Much adieu to Zim folks for his sun has set but Zayg's sun has now rises for the new tale to be told! |
Invader Johnny chapter 41 . 9/16/2014 It's a little hard to believe that the saga is over but after all the hell Zim, Red, Gloria, etc went though, its nice that they all acted like a big family, something I think was meant to be the real reason behind these stories. Blood does not make a family. Invader Johnny Signing Off. |
Guest chapter 39 . 9/14/2014 Wow this was really a good story. I'm glad you're turning it into your own though. I can't help but miss Zim though. Oh well hopefully youlle give me more peace of mine in THE END! |
Guitar Amateur chapter 40 . 9/16/2014 This was such a beautiful chapter. So nice to finally see Gaz so calm, so steady, so peaceful. |
