This is way so much better than all the Smaug kidnaps a lady and they end up falling in love stories. I love it!

I'm sorry, I know it's supposed to be sad and all, but I just can't help thinking "Dobby is a free elf!"...yeah.

I love the story. I would have loved to see out continued as a sequel, but also I agree that it is better to ends here, else storey would become generic oc in lotr instead of sorry of the girl and the dragon. Still dad to see Smoug gone though

I love this fiction! I love Carmen and her attitude especially her background and how she insists on becoming a gardener at the end despite all the other paths she could have enjoyed. I found it really meaningful that although Carmen was an additional character that she did not play a major role in the original story line altering how things were meant to occur. As you say anything can happen to Carmen at this point. I would love to read a sequel about her life or to read another story by you with a similar theme

I don't usually review as I don't really know what to say. However, I would like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed your fic. I was a bit wary of it at first since I've come across a few other stories where Smaug took someone as a prisoner or a pet and found them to be either horror or crack-ish. However, yours was very nice (for lack of a better word) I thought it was very well-written and that Carmen's responses to things actually made sense (which, honestly, most of the other 'I'm-in-Middle-Earth' stories have some very out-there responses). I think it would be interesting if you wrote a few one shots from the other characters' points of view. Like Elrond's thoughts on Carmen or something similar. About the only thing I didn't agree with was Carmen's apparent lack of scars. Being the captive of a petty dragon for roughly 100 years seems like something that would leave at least a few physical marks behind. I can't really complain though; it was a wonderful story. I rather liked the soft end that you had as well.

Now this...this is the type of story I've been looking for. I simply loved it and once started, I couldn't stop reading. I'll definitely be re-reading this.

With only four chapters it had a depth to it that a lot of other fanfictions with more chapters lack. It also flowed beautifully, and not once did I feel anything was rushed or dragged out unnecessarily.

I didn't find Carmen a Mary-Sue in the slightest! And I think you nailed her reactions and dealings with her situation pretty great, especially with her becoming an elf and part of a dragon's hoard. She handled it the best she could and adapted with time, not just straight up, so that made her all the more real to me. And the way her mannerisms slowly melted into ones found among elves (the singing and speak patterns) was flawlessly smooth. And not to mention that you still kept her human and modern traits there too.

Smaug, Thorin and Co., Bilbo, Thranduil, Gandalf, and all the other canon characters were written so well! That just made this all the more better.

I could go on, but in fear of ranting and creating an essay, I'll end my review here. Though I was sad to see this was the end, it was a good place to end things, on the note that Carmen's new life in M-E is heading for the better. And even if this doesn't get continued, I would love to read more from you!
