How does Tamami see? She can’t sense the movements in the Earth like Toph was oreviously able to so how does Tam know where she marked on the table? She can be verbally told how to work a math problem and supplies can be kept in the same place daily, but how does she know where people move? What are Tam’s moments of weakness, what can’t she do? How does she steer her bison?

Can there be a list of all of the kids ages?

Is Toph dead in this universe?

Any chance of an update to this story? I'm guessing since nothing since 2016 it's probably unlikely?

I am in love with this story. I rarely read Lin/Tenzin stories (even though I love them together, I usually don't care for the fan fiction) but you do it SO WELL. Your characterization of Lin is so spot on. I actually think I like your Lin better than Bryke's! I also love the children you've created for Lin and Tenzin, especially Rohan. Now I want to know what he got up to with his buddies and those bottles of Sake!
I am so excited to see where you take this story. I am especially keen to see how you'll write Lin losing her bending (if you do that scene).

Oh, apart from my general joy that this story isn’t dead, I did like lot about his chapter. I’ve been watching a loft of The Wire lately, and so what immediately struck me were the class and privilege differences between Rohan and Mako this chapter. I found Mako’s attitude, while frustrating completely in character and made sense given his own upbringing. At least his reaction to Bolin’s kidnapping here made more sense than his over the top reaction to Korra being kidnapped in Book 1. Or, his behavior was sympathetic to a certain point. Getting physical with the Equalist in the park was out of line and I’m glad Rohan called him on it, and kept his cool while Mako tried to push him around and snap at him. I also liked that he had the sense to school Korra and Mako that a random low level Equalist would likely not have information about a kidnapping.

It’s an interesting clash between the boys, as Rohan has the privilege to believe that the police will always help with problems, and care about a missing former street urchin, yet at the same time his relationship with the chief of police is an asset in this situation. On the other hand, you see Mako immediately feeling condescended to by Rohan’s questions. I do appreciate that Rohan uses common sense and insists on the disguise, the letter and the whistles, although to be fair to Korra she did make attempts to alter her usual appearance in canon.

I find the whole thing a nice antidote to the typical kids/teens go out and solve crimes in a race against a clock with no thought to backup.

It’s also nice shift that the Equalist chi-blocker fight seemed quicker and less brutal than I remember in canon.

I’ll have to reread but I wonder just how obvious Rohan’s airbending was during the fighting? It’s one thing to have the Avatar crash an Equalist movement but when the son of the chief of police and a councilman gets involved I wonder if that paints a target on the family sooner rather than later?

I also like how realistic police and detective work are applied to the Equalist situation.
It was satisfying that Lin had installed undercover agents to infiltrate them. Goodness, it was great to see both of them realize that being proactive with the movement was the way to go. I realize for the sake of the plot, in the show the Equalist situation has to reach a peak and the law enforcement has to take a hit and be rendered practically useless, but I like this switch. Here’s hoping the meeting with Mekhla can lead to some good before Tarrlok becomes involved. Extremists in any movement often distract from the main issue. It always bothered me that the issue of bender privilege was wiped clean away after Book 1 because it was convenient. I’d like to see positive political action taken to address the concerns of reasonable equalists, but I imagine Tenzin will have an uphill battle convincing the rest of the Council.

Is the agent Lin sent in undercover a nonbender?

I’m looking forward to discovering how Hiroshi Sato will be revealed in this story. I suppose it depends on who is with her when Korra overhears that conversation, but I hope Korra takes what she’s learned about being reckless and storming in without a plan. On the other hand, if she takes her suspicions to Mako, he won’t have “You’re just jealous!” as his initial reaction.

I had forgotten how awkward it must be for your girlfriend’s father to be paying your salary.

Also a nice bit of character work that Mako takes probending the most seriously, and actually studies his opponents.

I think Lin and Tenzin bounced back quite quickly after learning Rohan and Korra had been at the raid, and that Amon can remove bending permanently. It’s good Lin knows herself well enough to know that Tenzin is the better parent to give the lecture at this point because Tenzin didn’t have to experience that moment of fear for her child.

Nonbender! Su is such an interesting AU to ponder. Because the natural inclination is to think Toph would heavily favor her bending child over the nonbender, but at the same time as far as personalities go, Toph would get along more with Su. I imagine Su would still develop a really deadly skillset like Mai or Ty Lee. I can’t decide if she would act out more, or less, though.

Funny that the cop had the brief panic that Rohan was an equalist sympathizer, and how he’d break that news to Chief Beifong. I did read a comment once that Baatar Jr. was totally the kind of kid who in a rebellious stage might have an Equalist/Amon poster in his room because he’s an ass like that. Just as amusing was the idea that any officer on Lin’s force could be bribed to keep any incident involving her family from her.

Nice nod to continuity and the passage of time that Korra is getting better with the air gates.

Looking forward to the possibility of seeing how the rest of the family reacts to the events that went down.
