MsMenna chapter 1 . 9/20/2016 This was lovely. I have no clue how you manage to turn out one brilliant tale after another. I have not had time to read FF as I've been writing in any spare time I have (which isn't a lot). Right now it makes me sad that is the case because there are so many wonderful MM stories I have missed, quite many yours. You write Matthew and Mary beautifully and I'm looking firwRd to reading more. If you aren't writing for a living, you should be. |
lilyrowan1 chapter 1 . 4/13/2016 I read this lovely story back when it was first published, but have re-read in preparation for starting Let's Be Strong. I love the thought of Mary and Matthew so far apart-both physically and in their personal lives-yet united in their thoughts of each other under the same starry night. Looking forward to seeing where you take them in Let's Be Strong! |
BeWhoYouAre99 chapter 1 . 12/13/2015 Oh Poor Matthew, my heart hurts for him. I started watching Downton Abbey last year and I fell in love with it from episode 1 and then bam, Matthew died a short while later and my heart crumbled into a million and one pieces. I'm glad that there are so many M/M fanfics where they're happy and very much alive. I'm never gonna forgive Dan for leaving, no matter how much I adore him. He never should have left :( |
Palindrome310 chapter 1 . 7/6/2015 Loved it! Their shared memory about that tentative and beginning stage of their romance, so beautiful and heartwarming! The part about choosing the present, I don't remember a better choice of present. It's so unexpected and significant. I also liked the mention of Matthew thinking of Downton as home, Mary luring him to discover, the changed meaning of their arguments, learning from him, sharing cocoa in the library, walking home and wanting her respect. A bitersweet ending. |
sweetlikevanillais chapter 1 . 5/19/2014 This is beautiful, but makes me so sad. |
Rachel Smith Cobleigh chapter 1 . 5/15/2014 Lovely and aching...you have a perfectly good command of angst. :) |
luvgoround chapter 1 . 3/14/2014 So happy and sad at the same time...so glad it didn't go the way Mary thought it would go. |
Guest chapter 1 . 1/14/2014 This story is really beautiful. You capture M/M and gave us some wonderful moments between them for Christmas. Very well done. I look forward to reading more. |
mngirl chapter 1 . 12/28/2013 oh my gosh I just can't. This is beautiful! |
eyeon chapter 1 . 12/21/2013 Very sweet, but soooo sad (of course your tremendous writing makes it all so poignant)! A nice little early Christmas gift! |
didyouhaveagoodtime chapter 1 . 12/21/2013 *_* Oh gosh, this is so perfect on so many levels, my dear. You write romance in such an elegant, heartwarming, effortless way. It just jumps out of the screen, the romance, their backstory you only hint for us. And of course my mind is full of questions now: what happened to separate them, was it Pamuk? And how did the story unfold this time? Is his fiancée good old Lavinia? And who is this suitor already there in 1917? So many questions and I'm SO glad to see that this is actually only the beginning of a new story. You know I love your stories, so that's a thing I can only look forward too. Plus: I'm becoming more and more fond of your original character Alex :) Thank you for this wonderful gift :D |
Willa Dedalus chapter 1 . 12/20/2013 Masterful story! Matthew Pov & Mary Pov back and forth with graceful execution. "He learned when to play her games, when to stand firm." Such insight. J'adore! Sky glow (sounds exactly! Perfectly like Matthew) *clutches* heart Your Mary voice slays me. "He was always warm." Gave me chills. Matthew is fantastic at presents. And I liked the way you draw out - (what is it? What is it? What did he give Mary!) revealing Mary's gift. My only compliant... I want more of this. Cheers! |
ZoeyBridget chapter 1 . 12/20/2013 What a lovely, poignant story. Beautiful writing. It really made me want to learn more. Thank you. |
Merlin'sM chapter 1 . 12/20/2013 How simply, eloquently, achingly lovely. You evoked so much of a lost time, and filled it with such rich imaginings. I only wish it weren't 'Complete' - and could continue, and continue... Many thanks for writing this Christmas gift to the M/M fandom! |
ameliapemerson chapter 1 . 12/20/2013 That's lovely. "I know your heart, and I will help you fly." Yes. That's their relationship. Wonderful glimpses into their thoughts during this christmas season. |
