I find myself in a conundrum for I do not trust Uncle High Horse, but if he makes that bet with the Shadows and they allow it then it has to be binding right? So they would guarantee that he kept his end of the bargain for the others souls. But would they allow him to bribe his opponent into quitting? Is that considered cheating, part of the mind games, or like the leeway given to Ba-Ku-Ra when she was the DM in Season Zero? The complexities of your writing are always a treat to read. honestly I always wondered if some of the dark magic may have corrupted Pegasus a bit (mainly from zorc rather than Aknadin). this is getting good.

off topic, hopefully when Yugi meets duke things won't be too hectic compared to her male counterpart's experience.

Still love your writing! I love what you’re doing with the Millennium Eye and can’t wait so see if/how Ba-Ku-Ra reacts to that when they do whatever your version of ancient laser beam fight will be. I appreciate that we get to see inside Kaiba’s head instead of just his actions as it makes his character development more . . . I guess seamless is a word. Less jumpy is also a phrase I’d use. I also like your character dynamics, and that’s a huge thing for me. Anyway keep up the good work and as always I (and others) are in here for the long haul so if you need a break or anything we’ll be here when you get back. :)

I started reading this with hopes of finding a well thought out story with a decent pairing running through it. Instead I found the author barely waves at canon as it passes, rewrites duels and canon to suit their story, has rewritten what happened in Egypt to fit their 'female Atem' idea, and can't decide if their Yugi is straight or gay. There's massive Wishshipping hints, so I think it's going to be YugixJoey, then they drop Heartshipping hints so I think it's going to be YugiX'Amane' (Ryou but female).

It's no better with the Pharaoh either. Considering the Sealshipping (Mahado x Pharaoh) that was brought up earlier in the fic, for them now to have Thief 'Queen' Bakura getting pissy because of potential Casteshipping (Pharaoh x Thief King/Queen Bakura) that was going on out of sight of the priests, is incredibly annoying. Are their Yugis just sleeping with every member of the cast of their stories? Also are they straight or gay? Make up your mind Author.

Its disappointing because I had every hope for a straight female Yugi story that followed the canon and did not mess around too much. That's not what this is. This is very different to the canon and it's not my cup of tea. I can see where the author is trying to make her world make sense but in the end I don't think I'll be reading it anymore.

I still wonder about the death t and if Kaiba REALLY wanted Yugi to die (in the manga and season 0 ) I think he just wanted them to experience the feeling of death (Since Kaiba admitted even in his worse moments he wasn't as much as a monster as marik was in the manga) and wanted Yugi to suffer, especially when they dueled, but that's just my guess.

They feel so much more real here than in the actual show and I actually care about what happens to them now. I suppose that’s because it feels like there are stakes in your writing. In the original (which the anime was a children’s show and censored (4Kids) at that) but there was never a question of IF anyone would be ok it was only how would stuff be fixed? The stakes never felt conquencial because the “good guy” will always win. Although it IS a children’s show. I cut them slack for that. I wonder what your target age range for this is or if you simply write with more human detail and realism without a specific audience in mind.

I am already excited for the next chapter, but quality takes time so as always, take care of yourself first and i know I’m not the only one here for the long hall. ;) Good luck writing.

Mokuba. Mokuba better be ok. Definetly. Better be. It is a testament to your skill that I care about this character when in the normal series I felt like he was just kinda there. If you have already planned the story where he isn’t ok, I will eventually get over it. Eventually. But he better be ok. I don’t want to wait for the next chapter, but I understand that quality takes time, so as always remember to care for yourself. I’m here for the long game ;)

ooooooh I REALLY hope this whole bodyguard/information deal is set up to keep Honda more involved than canon in the future! He deserves more spotlight and i'm loving even getting this little but from his perspective, seeing his thoughts on the situation, seeing how loyal he is but how he's so much more pragmatic than Jou. For one thing he's aware of what Jou himself is not - the bodyguard body language!
hooooooo boy we are getting some ACTUAL ANSWERS ABOUT THE ANCIENT HISTORY AND IM SO DAMN HAPPY! So some sort of misunderstanding happened back then that led to a friendship and understanding of the crimes of the previous pharaoh situation being ruined...or did it? Yugi and Oneesan are both certain that it seems odd that the pharaoh would behave like is portrayed in this incident, but im suspicious its not as straightforward as Oneesan's boyfriend (?!) jumped the gun, particularly with the confusing stuff about her having had a brother and what we know of those who were present at the time in canon's ancient storyline. But damn is that some serious magnesium being thrown on the fire!
its also well done how she just...came out with it after all the secrecy, its believable that she just lost it after spending time with the group, seeing Oneesan honestly not remember any of it, especially since it...honestly DIDN'T change much for them. it isn't like they can do much about it until they have more info of the kind Ba-Khu-Ra can't provide. So its just...more awkward than ever before. There's a little bit of understanding WHY the thief queen is so dead set on vengeance, slightly, just a tidbit of insight into how she functions, but not anything anyone can use...yet.

then we get Kaiba under penalty and Honda going with the brothers, Mai having adapted to this supernatural business fast but still reacting in such a Mai-esque fashion, some awkward mentions of relationship statuses (I don't think its a coincidence it came up the same chapter as the mention of ancient pharaoh having a boyfriend) and Yugi's discomfort (poor girl...) and...Jou being potentially disheartened? am I seeing signs of future shipping between Jou and Yugi, or is this something else, I wonder...

Just read all of Ennead 1 and this, it's looking good! I like how you're adapting the universe to fit the female yugi. Most gender swaps just treat everything the same, but your additions on Ancient Egyptian feminism and school uniforms make the whole story fit the universe wonderfully! Keep up the good work!
