I do love a good Donavan story, especially post Reichenbach, am very intrigued how Moffat etc will do her part in series 3... Hopefully somewhat like your Sally, I think she would regret being part of what led to his suicide.

I almost never cry when reading a fanfic. This is one of those very few. I felt you captured Sally extremely well. It was consistent with what in the series, but the character development you showed was natural. Her remorse was palpable, and her thoughts so well-portrayed. The early part of the interaction with Sherlock was very poignantly written, and I began to tear up. I also felt you wrote Sherlock very in character, but with some natural changes as a result of his experiences. The tentative efforts on both of their parts to act differently were very well handled. And I loved the end of the story.

I look forward to more chapters in this story, but also to future Sally fics outside of the relationship series. I like that series, but it's really great to see good colleague/friendship pieces.

Good Donovan stories are hard to come by. I think you really nailed her character here and Sherlock's as well. Less cold than he was before, less ready to be cruel after 3 months/years/howeverthehelllongMoffatfeelsliketorturingourbelovedcharactersfor of a loneliness he's found he no longer wants. I adore that Sherlock calls Lestrade by his first name now. I've wondered if he would and I think that would definitely be significant should Moffat choose to incorporate that in the series ( and I so hope he does!).
Your writing is great! It's simple, but it has plenty of depth and as I've already said, the characterization! With very little words you managed to bring it all together perfectly. Well done!
