Reviews for Ode to the Witch
cynthia curran chapter 24 . 6/19
Cool dedicating it to Denise Nckerson who was the same age as me and John Karlen. Like the story line a lot wit all the different characters and ghosts.
Guest chapter 24 . 6/9
Now why Elizabeth cares about Jason at this point I don’t know and I am not going to ask.

Wait, Earl Grey? Who else liked that tea? Um, yeah, Jason’s worldly charm is CRAP!

Millicent has some excellent issues here! Great that Professor Stokes notices these things and also great the Millicent keeps carrying her own throughout. (Hee hee, He seems a little disinterested in his lecture after this turn of events.) And Jason keeps bothering Willie again, odd. Or perhaps it’s Willie’s conscious or the thoughts that Jason is his conscious which might be worse.

What’s incredible here is mixing so many ghosts from so many storylines in Dark Shadows. That’s super difficult and ought to be commended! (Jason and Beth being in the same story is fascinating.) Nice on Magda pointing out the “zideburns”.

Burke is back. “Opposite end of society” nice turn of phrase. Professor Stokes takes on a lot in this chapter! The 1890s relatives are a bit much, but fit in perfectly well, too. Elizabeth sharing time with Jason more is really disturbing. Very glad to see Professor Stokes take the reins on all supernatural forth comings here.

Also, thank you for the remembrances to Denise Nickerson and John Karlen. Extremely well done. Thank you.

LOL! Maggie served Jason peppermint tea instead of Earl Grey. That was shady! Ha! I think that Millicent should channel her anger at Nathan to helping Joe. That may also improve her role in helping her descendants. It was funny that Professor Stokes and the whole classroom tried to communicate with Millicent and Nathan. I'm surprised that Nathan didn't knock over anything, just to be acknowledged. Wait! Jason climbing out the window? He couldn't just slither around the dark corners of the house and left out the back door, unnoticed? Oh, Jason...

I think if Magda met up with Julia, they would become the ultimate force to reckon with :D Well, let's see what Eliot could find out from this séance. Well done, MID! Stay safe!

good story as always.

First, Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

Second, the review:
The action didn't jump off until Jason and Liz were caught up in that whirlwind shadow, which I can appreciate that sudden surprise. I hope that we get to find out the reasons for the trip and how it ties in to everybody's ghosts showing up at Collinwood and everywhere else. Hmmm, that was an unexpected reaction that I got from Barnabas concerning Vicki's revelation. I thought that he would be a little more devastated over them being related, but then again, he came from a time where cousins did marry, but being an illegitimate child was taboo. I like how you made Vicki uncomfortable with Barnabas lamenting over Josette, which had her wondering about his obsession with Josette.

I was laughing over Judah being experimented on by Julia and him coping with modern medicine. I'm sure that Barnabas had the same trepidation with Julia.

Thanks for the chapter, MID! I'm looking forward to the Collins family secrets Grandmama alluded to Judith :)
Guest chapter 22 . 11/20/2019
I reread this and its cool.
cynthia chapter 22 . 7/5/2019
Like Millicent and Natha, fun.

Pretty good, so far.
Helena Clara Bouchet chapter 22 . 7/4/2019
I kind of chuckled when Judah/Gerard was trying to figure out what Angelique saw in Barnabas. I wasn't clear about the relationship between Angelique (aka Miranda) and Judah. I didn't really see them as having a relationship except as master and protege.

"Spook sisters"? Mrs. Johnson has no idea how literally right she is about Carolyn and Vicki being real sisters. I'm looking forward to Roger's thoughts on Vicki being his niece, and am excited to read how dear old Barnabas is going to take the news. Yet, while Vicki is concerned about Barnabas being concerned about her being a Collins, I wonder if she had a clue that Barnabas was infatuated with her.

I like that Millicent is getting some strength. If only that hammer would have actually touched Nathan...

Poor Sam. He has no defense against Fenn-Gibbon.

Thanks for another chapter, MID! Keep it up and Happy 4th of July! :)
Guest chapter 22 . 6/29/2019
Judah is a compleat hose-head! He doesn’t give a darn about Miranda, and more is the pity! I suppose Miranda is as much a phoenix as ever was now! He senses the Collins ghost as buzzards as he very much delights people picking his scabs! (Contemptible Cur!)

The ghost of Millicent Collins? Eek! At least she’s shirking from the ghost of Nathan Forbes (who is much, much worse!) Shame the hammer missed him.

Oh, when is Roger not theatrical? As much as he makes fun of theatrics, he always plays the part. Glad the ghost of Bill is there to content Elizabeth. (Roger surely couldn’t!) Hey! David delighted to have a new cousin. That’s as may be, and very well done. How will Barnabas handle Victoria being related? Please just dig it in! Love Carolyn telling Victoria “But I suppose you always were.”

Mrs. Johnson ought to make blueberry pancakes for the occasion. As for Fenn-Gibbon, I don’t like him.

"But all sound science is based upon studious observation." So witchcraft is a science for Julia? I guess I get it with concoctions and all, but I would disagree with Julia seeing it as a form of scientific study.

"Oh, vomit. " LOL I didn't expect that from Nicholas, but I'm loving his annoyance at Love-Slave Joe :) I am really, REALLY looking forward to Vicki telling Barnabas about her new connection to the family. I just never cared for the Barnabas/Vicki pairing, and Barnabas fawning over her was getting on my nerves. Yes, his dreams of making her his wife will be dashed, but he is an 18th-century gentleman, so maybe the distant cousin thing wouldn't discourage him after all. Darn it!

Oh, snap! Gerard has come to play, too? It's a wonder that Barnabas, Julia, Maggie, and Willie didn't really delve into why Gerard would come in Judah's place (although being familiar with the 1840 storyline, we know why). Ghost of Quentin and Gerard...I wonder if they'll interact, even if it is 1890s Quentin.

Oh, the family dinner and big reveal was cute, but I'm not sure if Roger seems to be handling it well. I think he was sad that Liz didn't confide in him about Vicki.

Thanks for continuing with your story, MID! This was one of your best and intriguing chapters :)

Oh, boy this is getting involved with Gerald stiles.
mad margaret chapter 20 . 10/9/2018
I had forgotten who Fenn-Gibbon was and had to look it up. I like how to intermingle so many of the show's characters into one story. Taking my kindle to bed to finish reading. Hope to finish tomorrow.
cynthia curran chapter 20 . 9/20/2018
Glad to have Nathan back.
Magical Irish Dolphin chapter 20 . 9/16/2018
I like to answer the question that my guest reviewer left. Donna made an earlier appearance several chapters back when Carolyn and Vicki visited Prof. Stokes' class to seek supernatural advice. Carolyn learned about Stokes through Donna, and thought to come to him for advice. Donna also gave Carolyn and Vicki a campus tour, and enjoys Prof. Stokes' lectures.
That has been her involvement in this story thus far.
