I loved this episode. And I loved this perspective of Dean left Sonny’s for Sam and that John punished Dean by separating him from Sammy.

Loved this. I so wish (and yes, I really do understand that these are fictional characters) that Dean had grabbed Sam out of the car and they had barricaded themselves in Sonny's until John got the point and got out of their lives forever.

I loved the final conversation between Dean and Sam. I could just picture Jensen's expression if he was delivering these lines.
I like how Sonny realized why Dean left the farm. "You left for him. You went back with your Dad for Sam. Isn't that right, Dean?"
I kept trying to figure out why John left Dean at the farm and I like your theory. "To punish me, he took Sam away. That lesson was simply how easy it would be for him to leave me if I failed again and to keep Sam from me. I learned that lesson and vowed to never let it happen again..."

If Sam was with Dean when he was with Sonny for those two months, I don't think he would go back with his dad. He would have taken Sonny's offer and stayed with him, he would have had the most important person with him his Sammy.

The only reason he went back with John was because of Sam, he will always be there for his little brother.
