Love the slick reference to "Derrick Storm's"" possible disappearance on his wedding day and how his readers would never buy it! Brilliant-and true; we didn't. So, fingers crossed that Det. Beckett is going to show up before the end of chapter 40, because we can"t wait to see her flash that badge and become an important part of of all three Castle lives.

I'm reading this for the first tine, and I'm quite enchanted with it. One question, though: Don't these people and school dorms have phones? I have some trouble believing that the grandparents only com-
municate on Christmas, and that Martha calls neither her parents nor her son-ever, regardless of their sketchy relationships. Just seems unrealistic. Anyway, as I read along, I drift between young Rick in your story and grown-up Castle with whom we're already very familiar. I feel so sad for young Rick, but knowing that his adult fictional character was a good & loving man is reassuring. Apparently I sometimes forget that it's all fiction, too, huh? ! Anyway, I'm invested and will probably read into the wee hours again tomorrow.

Welcome back - Good chapter. I enjoyed Alexis so much more in the early days before she morphed into my least favorite character. Loved every scene Lanie was in throughout the series - also true of Martha too.

Ah, I love this chapter - what a great surprise to find it this evening. "Are you kidding? He'd never let me sign this?" So Castle, so classic. Man, I miss this show, and the way it used to be.
