Wow I know this is really old and you'll probably never see this review but wow...this was really good. Really fucking good.

This is amazing. Very heart-wrenching. I feel for Jazz as the one who has to not give in to Danny for his own good, even though it's hurting her that she's hurting him.

I'm also reminded by some theories out there that explain why Danny is getting more and more powerful as the show progresses (e.g. Ghostly Wail, ice powers, etc.), more than any other ghost I suppose. It's because his obsession is being fed as he is doing the hero work. I agree with you that the nature of ghostly obsession needs to be explored more in fiction, and this is a rather dark exploration about it (but still good! Angst is good! :D)

Man, it must really truly suck to be an addict. I never really thought about Danny's obsession in terms of addiction. The way you portrayed it kind of makes me think of how I imagine people would react to hearing a Soren's song and being tied up so they can't get to it.

Wow, someone is really good with angst. Though I have to admit the subject for these stories were a little weird. Nothing wrong with that. I always wondered why people think Danny has a hero complex. People are being attacked by a ghost and he has the power to stop that, why shouldn't he go protect them? Still, great story and excellent show of the stages Danny was going through with his obsession and even his misery because of it.

Actually, many fanfic stories do deal with his obsession. In the show however, Danny's behavior does seem to be tempered with a certain amount of human common sense and at times he actually does seem glad to ditch the pressure when he can get away with it. Jazz seemed a bit out of character but this would be difficult for her as well.

All that aside, you do have a point about Danny's need to protect his town from ghostly enemies and how that need overwhelms everything else.

Well Danny really can be quite cruel when desperate, who knew?
