Loved this! Loved Uhura daring Jim not to die again and the scene with Scotty and Jim was funny, alive-pitch perfect. I also loved the McCoy and Jim scene where they're working through what happened. Especially like McCoy's ". . .my friend the madman who fixes warp cores with his bare hands." Loved the quiet scene in engineering between Sulu and Jim where Jim admits he fixed the core by kicking it into place and Sulu suggest robotic arms as a measure to cut future problems off at the pass. Lot of real, human, grounded moments as these characters deal with extraordinary events. Thanks for beautifully filling the space between Jim's waking up and the one year memorial.

Not sure how I missed this fic when you posted it, but I am enjoying it immensely. Yes, it's been done before, but everyone has a different take and I venture to guess that we all feel cheated by the film jumping over all this good character development/interaction/angst. You have a good handle on all the main characters and present very realistic reactions from each to their captain's actions and subsequent death and rebirth.

This is far and away the best aftermath to STID story I've read. Thanks!
