It is too late for me to be laughing... but that part with "He is the biggest pain in my... Raphael grinned wickedly. I love you too, sensei, he thought" always makes me laugh.

Splinter considering suicide is a scary thought, no matter what age the turtles are.

This was such a sweet story! Except for the part with Mikey and the chic... Keep writing!

That was a truly insightful look at what may very well have been. I very much enjoyed reading this.

You so have these characters nailed. I love reading your stuff. And of course it makes sense that Splinter went through those dark days - his wife and daughter dead, a stranger in a strange land, mutated, living in the sewers, and newly responsible for four mutant toddlers? Um, yeah, my swords would be whispering, too. -_-; You always know Splinter is strong to have thrived the way he has and raised such a great family, but you don't appreciate just HOW strong until you also see how vulnerable and how emotional he is...he's not strong because he's stony and shuts it all out, he's strong because he lets it all in, holds it, and makes peace with it.

There are so many details in this story that I love. :D Like the fact that Leo actually shares Raph skepticism about this assignment, and that Mikey writes pretty much the same way he talks (and that Raph can barely read his handwriting but apparently, he can spell "cantaloupe"). I also loved the fact that Splinter writes in Japanese. It's something that I didn't even think about until now, but it makes sense.

I loved all the brothers' journals. It's was a very interesting read, which is why this story caught my eye. I think you kept them all in character very nicely and true to the show. Splinter's journals were definitely the most interesting to read, both funny and with a dark twist I'd never expect. Though, some words and sentences did not strike me as very “Splinter-ish”, but it’s understandable that Splinter wouldn’t write in the same manner that he speaks. Especially in a private journal.

This was a very short story, but it doesn't have to be longer. It's perfect just the way it is, and I enjoyed reading every single bit of it. :)

Awesome, awesome, awesome. I am really impressed by your beautiful story. The writing is great and the plot is insightful and cool. Great creative idea. At first, the ending of the story seems a little anti-climactic, but it does show that Raph is now ok with this whole journaling thing, and that he sees it can have an important purpose. Again, wonderful story- loved it.
