Namae-desu chapter 3 . 10/29/2013 Hello author! I am very pleased to see that you indeed took my advice - as this chapter has already improved a lot! (Also, I am glad that you did not take my words as criticism. Thank you for that). The punctuation became much, much better, and therefore, this chapter was a better read. It 'flowed' more easily. I had to smile at Kakashi's remarks, and I felt a little sorry for him - I can imagine guiding a drunk Gai back home isn't the funniest job, even if he behaves well. I'm glad that you were able to describe Kakashi's deadpanned humor (such as: 'I see you made friends with the local garbage cans already.') and the dialogue was pretty natural; the small details - such as mentioning the stars - created a nice picture. The fact that the masked ninja is willing to take the boisterous, drunk epitome of Youth into his home (or rather, house, seeing it's not a 'home' to him) means a lot, I presume - he must be incredibly serious about the subject, and the last question at the ending of this chapter made me wonder just how this entire ordeal will end between the two rivals. Will it form a rift between them, or will they work it out? It was light and serious at the same time, just as the previous chapters were, which is a good thing. You can still improve, but it will only be a matter of time before you have mastered a true, new level of story-telling! Great job! Your newly-found descriptions honestly improved the story. Thank you for sharing this with us! I hope to see you grow even more - we, the readers, are waiting for an update! |
Namae-desu chapter 2 . 10/25/2013 I must say that I find this story pretty amusing so far. Most of the time, I immediately click away when I see a story is written in first person, as it just not my cup of tea, but for some reason, I kept reading this one. You got me caught up in your plot, and I couldn't stop myself... It has a funny touch, and though the subject is a heavy one (drinking away sorrows isn't funny at all), this story is rather light-hearted, which is really nice. I especially liked Gai's conclusions, and how his flowery way of speaking was toned down rather than going into full bloom - through this little change, one can see that he's completely out of it. I'm pretty concerned about him. The part wherein Gai just bluntly assumes and then says that Kakashi can stay with him because he doesn't have a girlfriend made me giggle (yes, giggle) aloud. Even though it is a nice story overall, I cannot help but want to give you some tips to improve your story-telling. It is already pretty neat, but I can't help but think that, with a few additions, your story could be more awesome than it is already. (Please, do not take this as criticism - I am a lurker, too afraid to post on this site myself, which is pretty cowardly seeing you jus dared to post a(n awesome) story! - and all I want is to help fan fiction-authors developing their skills...) Perhaps you could try adding some details. While using too much details is often boring to read, I found that describing settings and thoughts - especially the thoughts of Kakashi in this story, as he's the narrator! - would do a story much good, as it would provide the reader with a 'picture' while reading, which enhances the fun. Also, consistent use of capital letters when using names, or using dots at the end of sentences, would improve the quality of the writing itself. I find this story a very nice read. I have missed reading stories with plots like this one - I mean, there's not much written about Gai's promise to Lee and Kakashi's reaction thereof. I'm glad you did. Thank you for sharing this story with us! Please, update soon! |
