Given Snape’s background when it comes to abuse, given what his mother and he suffered at his father’s hands, he’s a character that is in a position to actually understand what Hermione goes through in this story.

Right now the dark wizard is acting in a controlled manner. There’s a very fragile and upset witch in his space and reacting violently won’t help matters at all.
However I feel that his own rage is just quietly simmering away, awaiting an outlet. Likely too is that of Harty and Ginny Potter, both known to be impulsive and hot tempered in the past.

Sadly this situation is very real. Someone who appears strong, stable and in a “good” relationship, can be trapped by fear in an abisive situation.
It’s shown great courage by Hermione to take the steps needed to not only walk away from her marriage but tell those she cares about, the truth.
Few could do both those things in one day, and I doubt she’d have done either without the catalyst Severus provided.

The poor woman hasn’t been loved or in love for some time now, and is currently experiencing a vast amount of emotional and mental upheaval. Likely more to come once she decided upon action plan (divorce, file charges, spilt assets etc), but she notices this as well as the attraction she has for Severus, something that’s been building over last five years. Yet she shows her bright intelligence by noticing this and knowing now isn’t the right time.
Any action the pair make upon their feeling towards each other will lead to talk and speculation, sad but true...
Hopefully time (more than a couple of days) and the support of their closet friends, those that believe in them both, will help them through, then accept any relationship, should one develop.

Short chapters, but concise, covering the important parts of each without padding by flowery language. It’s a tough subject and as such can need short, tough literature to cover it in a truthful manner.

Thanks for sharing the story. It's awesome. I like how Ron acts in front of his parents but than shows his reak face again at the end of the chapter.
