I'm not sure how I missed this story, but I'm so happy I found my way to it at last. Castle's comment about thinking how things would have been different if she had been wearing a vest at Montgomery's funeral took my breath away. And "awesome" doesn't begin to cover this couple, in my humble opinion, but it's probably the best he could do on pain meds.

Just a bit technical here...but I don't think a bulletproof vest will stop a high powered bullet from a sniper rifle. But still loved the story!

This one was so full of "awwwwww" feels! Loved it.
Especially that her cool hand replaced the ice pack... her touch helping to heal him. I'm still wearing a goofy grin.

This was a great follow up story to the TV episode because it gives us insight into Beckett's thoughts & fears. Plus a whole different Beckett walks across the room full of her colleagues to bury herself in Castle's arms. Great touch that. I had not given a thought to how painful & damaging being shot through a vest would still be. Good story. I really enjoyed reading it.

Ok, I quit. I can’t copy and paste lines. I don’t know why. I can’t on my phone and now I can’t on my work computer. I have things I want to pick out, damn it.

So let’s try it this way…. I love the part where she leaves Lanie in favor of Castle. I love that she goes up to him, not caring the boys are around… she just goes up to him because she needs and wants him and does not care who sees it.

The low roar of his voice quieting her mind. LOVE

“We match” he says…. No. nope. Not ok. Nope. I love this entire part so much. I wish the show went further with the fact that he was shot in the chest. Thankfully we have you to fill in the missing pieces.

His back pressed against her chest…. Kate wraps her arms around him… dude. This makes me emotional. It’s too early for this.

But its our first day back. LOL You’re not a cop Castle. Come on now.

The chill from the ice pack as seeped into the band of her ring, making it cold and tight around her finger. - You know how amazing this line is, right? You have to know. SO so so good.

Really nice story! A lot of good thinking went into this one! What would have happened had she been wearing a vest? What a great question! When would he have told her that he loved her? She had just told him that she knew he was the guy she could count on! But, Josh was still in the way. We could have been stuck in that same holding pattern!
