Ah, I remember this chapter—it was my favorite. It still is. Yukina and Hiei’s dynamic is perfectly in character (plus with a little more dimension, which makes it better). Even the way you write their sparring sounds so natural, it’s brilliant.

I love love love how you expanded Yukina’s character—especially that bit where she’s actually more similar to Hiei. I love how Hiei noticed that about her, too.

I first read this fic years ago. To this day, it still brings me joy. It has everything I ever wanted in a Yukina fic: badass Yukina? Check. Doting friends? Check. Hiei being Hiei? Check! I love, love this fic and will ALWAYS love it. Thank you so much for writing it.

I actually don't mind the breakup. He's very endearing and kind to her, which is something she needs, but any romantic love between them always seemed one-sided to me.

I don't know how you managed it, but you portrayed Hiei as the doting older brother without breaking character perfectly - I mean really, "Hiei" and "doting" don't belong in the same sentence. Actually, all your characterizations were spot on. I also love how you show Yukina's growth as a demon in the human world. You never forgot to talk about how different the culture and moral system of the demon world is in comparison to the human world.

This was great:) I really loved it. My favorite part was that, after this whole fic of Hiei and Yukina trying to make it work from both ends, THAT is how it comes out. I think it was perfect. It was like Kurama and Hiei were discussing; it is very hard to imagine the scene of Hiei telling Yukina. I think that the way you did it was great and I love that you used a character we had already briefly seen (that is, if I'm right to assume the reptile girl was the same one from Hiei's scouting squad).

I also really liked how you established a relationship (not necessarily romantic) between Toya and Yukina but it didn't overshadow the main sibling relationship of Yukina and Hiei. It was just there, in the background, perfectly. When Yukina trapped herself in the dome I knew Genkai was going to call Toya. They are my BROTP but I can see them as romantic as well.
