I love it! Of course it is about my two favourite characters: Chief and Garrison. It is so deft and subtle in your developing the relationship between the two men. The perception from Garrison in recognizing the gifts that Chief has that both Chief and many others might consider liabilities as a gift is masterful. It is also great to see the building of the foundations of trust and respect. Chief pulling out the Bible as the second book to learn to read from came totally out of left field! I can't wait to read the whole piece! There are so many depths in character development in this story, it is a delight! I have read it three times already and gotten things out of each reading that I didn't catch before!

Nice insight into Chief's childhood. Retirement is not that far away for me, too. Can't wait!
