I can't help but feel that Tony had really low self-esteem if he had romantic feelings for Ziva after she assaulted him in Israel. Her anger issues would have put him in danger for the rest of his life if he'd gotten together with her.
Although I'm very happy Tony got on that place in this story it feels to me like Tony would have chosen her if she asked and Gibbs is his consolation prize so I kind feel sorry for Gibbs.

Having just seen both episodes again last night I found this story and was delighted. I'm always a Tony/Gibbs fan, in fact I don't really read much else, but this kinda put a good ending to both episodes. Also the fact that Tim knew how Gibbs felt, at least, seemed appropriate as well. Tony's comment about Fornell was great too. Thanks again.

A very honest conversation between them, nicely done! I so wish our 2 stubborn men could have each other this way on the show, or at least indicate they still have a close relationship at all! I'm missing that so far this season. Your story was a great fixer, thanks for writing and sharing!

I love that ending, so Tony and Gibbs. Would love to see this as a longer story with them exploring their feelings for each other. I almost missed this story as I filter out stories with mcgee and Ziva as main charcters. Thanks for sharing this story.

I'm glad Tony went home and talked to Gibbs, though I think I've missed some of the nuances, as I've yet to see the episode in question. Perhaps I will re-read after watching that, whenever it ends up over here.

Have to admit my favorite part of the episode was Gibbs shooting Fornell in the ass. Keeping thinking Gibbs did it on purpose. Not like he wouild miss a target being a professional marine sniper.

As I knew it would be, this tag is awesome and for some reason, it fitted perfectly that they'd already been in a physical relationship and one that had been on-off-on-off. In a way that made it both easier and harder on the two men... especially Gibbs, who presumably had worried that he could have been nothing more than a place holder for Ziva or anyone else Tony fell for, and fascinating that this separation and the ambiguity in both their minds about Ziva added to the gnawing doubts.

LOVED that conversation with Tim on the plane and LOL at the favourite toy - you know I loved that comment and it fitted so well here, particularly as you turned it round so well and also gave Tim an opportunity to call Tony on the whole thing. Really liked how Tim had both their backs here... and that he wasn't afraid to confront Tony about how Gibbs had been while he was gone and what it might mean. Sounds like the Probie did a lot of growing in those few months. Loved that concern from Tony too about whether Ziva had made her peace with Tim...

And that basement scene was pitch perfect - so plausible that Gibbs would almost already have made up his mind about what had happened, and what might happen and come out of Tony seeing Ziva, and about Tony's feelings - even without us getting into Gibbs' head, it still managed to conjure up the image of a lot of lonely nights down in the basement. And can I say how much I loved that Tony was so honest there at the end, with admitting how much he cared about Gibbs but wasn't sure yet if it was love but wanted them to try. That means so much more than a joint I love you and a sunset ride off into the hills, and Gibbs will recognise that honesty and also perhaps realise that Tony is treating 'them' differently than a lot of his past casual relationships where 'love you after other physical pursuits' has maybe been thrown out there too often from Tony?

And that last bit... snort... so funny and so apt! Loved it... and of course, you realise, you have the perfect opportunity to continue this new 'verse, seeing if they can make it real, against a background of the new season... if other episodes fit at all and give you openings or just shout 'tag me'? I'm just saying *ducks, runs and hides*
