You said you weren't sure it worked - well for me it certainly did. In Kate's first couple of letters I could feel her pain. It wasn't what she said but how she said it - the style - how you wrote it. And Castle's? Heartbreaking! I had tears in my eyes reading his final letter.

So this was either the best or the worst story to read after the news yesterday about Stana. I couldln't watch the show last night, so I read this story instead. I just hope and pray that the fan fiction writers like you who were inspired by the show and the characters of Castle and Beckett somehow continue to feel inspired and can continue to write. I really don't know how I will feel if I lose both the show and all of your writing.

Where does your insight come from? How do you do it so well-make me laugh-make me moan and make me cry? But mostly you take me somewhere else for while, at least. All I can think is that you've really got my number!

Even after already having read "Resurgence", this one drags a tear out of me when Castle says goodbye to her! Crazy good stuff here!

Heartbreaking, even keeping Rise in mind, because they both need each other so much and they're both carrying guilt that's so heavy while all they both need is each other and gahhhhhh that last one Castle wrote was the saddest thing.

I think an epilogue should be that after they are together, they show each other the letters (somewhere in season 6)...In my mind they did! ;)

the POV switch worked really well for me, to see them both struggle without the other so clearly and so painfully ... ung!

I just saw this one and read it as I am waiting eagerly for the next Resurgence chapter which I know will be after the New Year. This sounds like a precursor to Resurgence-or at least the letters seem to follow that story-so much anguish on both parts it just makes my heart hurt OR I just want to put them together in a room so they'll admit how they feel and get on with life.

And herein lie the seeds for your current long fic. This is very well done.
