I actually gasped when the Meta-Crisis Doctor heard Rose call him "Doctor." I can't imagine what that must be like for him... not only years not hearing your own name - but it's more than that for him. "Doctor" is his title - something that he chose. It defines him more than just any given name would.

He can call himself "John Smith" all he likes, but I love that that one name brings him right back to who he really is.

Fantastic job on this chapter! It's beautifully written! I really loved that he doesn't think, just goes running out the door when he knows Rose is in trouble. Very much like the Doctor.

Wow! So much emotion here. And I love that the Doctor, true to form, just leaves. I know that many would protest that - but, really, would the Doctor continue to stay where he wasn't wanted? That's what he does - he leaves when he feels the time is right and keeps on running. He's not afraid to be on his own. (He might not want to be on his own, but he wouldn't shy away from it either.)

As much as he loves Rose, this 900 year old alien (even in a human body) wouldn't wait around for her like a sad puppy. He's the Doctor, the Oncoming Storm, and he's very good at picking himself up when he's down. And, as much as it probably hurts him every time, he's used to losing people.

This story is great! Your depictions of the characters are very real and your writing is fluid and full of description. I'm excited to read more of your writing.
