Oh. My. God. I loved loved loved this story. Who knew I could come around to love Sandor?! This relationship was elegantly handled, and I adored the subtle and yet drastic changes in both Sansa and Sandor.
Merp chapter 42 . 2/5/2014
This was beautiful, but I feel a little ripped off with the lack of smooching. Oh well, I suppose there are ways to tell someone you love them without locking lips ;) great story and I can't wait to read your others!
HeRonFan chapter 43 . 12/15/2013
Well, a lovely ending for them after all. Through many trials, they made it through. You have weaved a lovely story of two star crossed lovers coming together with a better result than Romeo and Juliet. So many moments are just a nice growth of trust and friendship and dependence on one another on this journey home. For Sandor to settle down is a little bit interesting, but if anyone could get him to do it, then she could. For Sansa's part, you made her come to like herself more as a result of his influence on her. A rougher life to be sure, but one that gives her a feeling of self-worth. Can you imagine Catelyn Stark seeing her daughter skin a rabbit, or use a bow and arrow. After all Sansa had been through, going back to being completely coddled would be like Eliza Doolittle going back to sell flowers on the street corner after her exposure to Proffessor Higgins. Funny irony there considering manners and speaking right is what changed Eliza and the reverse for Sansa. But both became practical and self-sufficient going into the other circle in society and merging them together.
I love your Sandor. Gruff, but not overly so. Backstory and a sense of humour that is often ignored certainly made him an admirable (anti?)hero. He was always truthful to her with the exception of his moment of self-punishment on her behalf. But his leaving and being without her cemented how much he cared for her, and dared to let that caring grow beyond his own sound reasoning. She got to him. In the end, that's all we need for people to find their happiness in the end so that when we read, hope is not completely lost even in the bad times.
Beautiful story. I suggest you re-publish this one chapter at a time instead of all at once. Because you certainly deserve way more exposure to other readers who were deprived of new story notices, etc. I did the same thing the first time I published with 3 chapters up at once and encountered the limited readership. Readers reviews often spark incredible ideas. And I think YOU HAVE THE TALENT TO GO ANYWHERE YOU WANT IN THIS WORLD. Truly.
Bravo! Clap! Clap! Clap! Encore!
HeRonFan chapter 42 . 12/15/2013
When is this set? A month after the Red Wedding? 2? 6?
I like that she does not jump right up for him...she seems pretty pissed that he'd fight for everything else but in the end, he did not bother to fight for them against the sentiments of her family. Had he stayed that night, she might have gotten through to Robb and Catelyn.
Nice ending, but would like a kiss after all that.
HeRonFan chapter 41 . 12/15/2013
You are a little jumpy here and I was confused. Sansa identifying herself to the men who stopped them in the narrative would have been helpful. The shoe is on the other foot now. Her name brought the men to heel and not his sword. He's learning a bit how a woman of those times felt-powerless. Now they are in the North, her country.
I don't think she fully comprehended how her family would react to him, but he did. I had hoped, naively, that he would say something to her, a farewell kiss or something before they entered the camp even if she did not know it was such. His "anonymous" look-good adjective. He was now about to become just anyone to her due to her family and he knew it.
Sometimes, I don't understand her visions, like in the tent with her mother, so that is distracting. The tent changing was confusing and I almost screamed when she didn't shove it in their faces that Sandor had saved her, when her own family had not. Not her, nor Bran and Rickon. When Robb addressed Sandor, his quick look at her felt like he did not think she had defended his role and thus accepted his fate to be parted from her.
Obviously, this chapter was frustrating as hell as things all get unravelled-which also means it was very good and suspenseful, despite my bouts of confusion with the setting. I hope she leaves,or at least we see her give her mother a bit more of a tuning as she comes to understand everything Sandor had been telling her about how much of a pawn she is, even in her own family. Grrrrr. And I miss Sandor already and he's only been gone 2 minutes.
HeRonFan chapter 40 . 12/15/2013
An interesting turn of events. How can he save this situation?
HeRonFan chapter 36 . 12/15/2013
Beautiful light hearted banter of two relaxed lovers. Simple, silly, playful. Her imaginings in the pattern in the wall is such a natural thing to do. It's the little things like this that say how good you are at conveying a comfort level unfelt before. Nicely done. Sorta wanted them to have a little more playtime, I think I know what's coming and playtime is now out the back door. Hope they escape unharmed. Nice bit of suspense you added.
HeRonFan chapter 35 . 12/15/2013
Just for you. Hope it gets to be for both.
I very much enjoyed his vulnerableness to her,and how much it means to him that she talks with him. Those were some beautiful last words. Wonder what he said as she was dozing off. Wonder if she'll be sick the next day as well. Wink, wink.
HeRonFan chapter 31 . 12/15/2013
It's about time! This was driving me nuts!
