This is my favourite KFTLC fic, together with MJ Mink's "The Trick". Great to see it posted here! These are fascinating characters, who are seldom done justice. You understand them, even as they don't understand each other. Peter thinks his father doesn't approve of his lifestyle, whereas KCC actually wonders if he still has a place in his son's life. Both feel it as a disaster if the other rejects him in some way, but at the same time they've each got ideals to uphold (i.e. hide within) - so they hate this in themselves, each in his own way.

Sometimes I think, in the series, they're written more like soulmates than father and son, which is amazing for me as I don't know of any other place where this has been done. It's wonderful to see someone else who relates to this amazing, crazy, painful love they share, which programmes the whole show around this "Promise".

And I don't know if you've experienced anything similar, but I noticed that when around a very spiritual person, I act just like Peter - so your story is wonderful catharsis for me, and very healing. Thanks.

I liked this story, I just wished you would have had Peter and Pop talking more about the whole not-taking the brands. It seemed to have been a major issue, and Peter thought he heard his dad saying something- but you didn't resolve it.

How wonderful to come upon this "new-to-me" KFTLC story that equals the high-quality stories that used to be on the Fuie list-servs!
