Damn... You really had me for a while. I really enjoy Revolutionshipping and Peachshipping fics, mostly because there are precious few who are pro-Anzu. And you did a wonderful job of focusing on her. She didn't feel wedged in or contrived. It felt organic to the story, especially referring to specific geography in New York.

The story was also very sweet. I enjoy tragic love stories like this, where the lover is waiting at the end in the afterlife/heaven/what-have-you. Again, your descriptions portray the setting with respect. And I got a kick out of your backstory for Anzu thinking about that guy whose father was killed in Pearl Harbor. *puts on English teacher hat* From a purely unemotional, storytelling standpoint, it tied the ending in very well considering that both Pearl Harbor and 9/11 were attacks which dragged the US into war.

But... I had the same reaction to this twist ending as I did to the movie "Remember Me," i.e. it angered me into speechlessness for a full minute. I am sorry, but I find pandering the deaths of so many innocent people in poor taste, at least so soon after the events in question! Normally I would have said nothing, but you have talent, and I just wanted to warn you to be careful about pulling that sort of twist ending!
