excessivelyperky chapter 1 . 2/7/2016
Oh, he’ll get over his sadness, in maybe a week (after all, in canon he had practically forgotten Sirius in only a few weeks, when you consider the gap between book 5 and book 6). Plus, all his friends will urge him to forget about Snape, because they still hate him and can’t understand how hard it is to sacrifice when *everybody* hates you. After all, they’re such good friends they have no idea what it’s like to stand alone the way Snape did.

Anyone can die for people who love them. Snape died for people who hated him. One of these things is not like the other.

But Harry will get over it, because otherwise he’d have to go against his friends. He doesn’t do that.

What a beautiful story! I hope your Harry begins to understand that Snape WAS hateful to him - he had to be as part of his undercover act - and to forgive his childish self for believing that was all there was to the man. I find it so heartbreaking in canon that Snape never knows that he was a hero, and that his actions helped save everyone. The funeral you've devised and the grave next to Lily's are a perfect tribute to his bravery.
