You know this story would have been worlds better if you wrote about the Ron Weasley that was actually in the books... You know, the one who faced down monsters, murderers and maniacs at Harry's side unflinchingly. Who got into NEWT level classes on his own merits (no amount of help on his revisions by Hermione "lets use a time machine to get more homework!" Granger could help him on the tests or the practicals.) Who was a cracking good wizard who performed nonverbal magic on several occasions before third year, cast upper level curses with a mis-matched and BROKEN wand, outperformed Hermione in training for Dumbledore's Army, and took on Death Eaters in head-to-head fights before he was even in sixth year. AND Whose quick thinking saved all their asses on multiple occasions, from first year right to the last.

Who in CANON in the Goblet of fire wasn't JEALOUS (that was Hermione "clueless as a brick" Granger's conclusion), but upset that Harry had apparently taken off on yet another rule-breaking misadventure... without him. Who was shaken to his core when he clapped eyes on the first trial of the triwizard because he realized his best friend really WAS in peril and might even be killed.

Not this lazy, stupid, surly glutton (Try having five older brothers, two of whom regularly poisoned your food to test their experimental prank potions- you'd eat like a starving wolf too!) you've whipped up from fanon and bad movies.

Ron was not jealous (that was Hermione's diagnosis, and that girl has all the interpersonal understanding of a teaspoon.) He was ***upset that Harry had apparently gone off on yet another rule-breaking adventure and left him out.***

You gotta be kissing me. There was progress, he was becoming the wizard she wanted him to be.. but then you do this. What was the point of his ‘growth’ if he’s apparently so inept that Ginny is solving issues for him that he solved himself in canon? I thought the story was about their relationship and her making him into a great wizard.. so far there’s not really an actual relationship and Harry’s completely reliant on Ginny and others by this point, hardly the ‘great wizard’ he’s supposed to be becoming.. Ginny solves all of his bloody problems for him, instead of actually helping him learn to deal with those issues himself.

Okay. So there finally seems to be some growth. He handled Ron and Neville well. While the brief exchange with Nott was a little forced (I hope you explain why he did what he did but what I meant was Nott’s supposed strength and skill. You just got through talking about how Harry was pretty strong physically, and yet Nott overpowered him. Nott doesn’t have a map either, so how did he so easily find Ginny while she hid?) but Harry finally showed some initiative and true backbone. Granted, it was out of fear and he has already technically killed two people (Quirrel and Diary Tom), but he did what had to be done. Ginny’s response, on the other hand makes no sense. She’s spent the last two years with memories of Tom torturing people and even felt, to some degree the sexual gratification Tom got from doing that. She also has the memory of him getting Myrtle killed and has the memories of herself setting the basilisk out while possessed, not to mention that you did this big whole thing about how Ginny has some very dark thoughts and can almost justify torturing people, but doesn’t because Harry is her moral compass. So why is she so rattled?

Again. Harry may have learnt the spells, but it was all Ginny’s idea, it was Ginny and Luna who taught him and he still needed to rely on Luna to do half of the bloody thing for him once the task was over, and it was Luna, Ginny and the twins who handled Ron. All Harry did in that Ron situation was throw out a plainly empty threat as, like Ron said he was hiding behind people, seeing as if Luna and Ginny didn’t step in Harry would have lost that, sucker punch or not.

Even his little show of backbone against McGonagall was half arsed, he could have outright refused to let them take Ginny. They didn’t have to take a person, there was no need for it, he could have just given up an item he cared about like his firebolt, or even just a freaking sock. Molly had the right to give permission to Ginny, she didn’t have the right to give Dumbledore the permission to forcefully involve Ginny in the task, regardless of Ginny’s wishes. Ginny should’ve at least thought of that, she’s meant to be similar to a cynical sixteen-year-old Dark Lord, no?

I would understand if the story was about Ginny helping him grow.. but so far there’s been no noticeable growth. Ginny and the twins solved the badge issue. Ginny and Luna solved the Rita Skeeter issue. Hagrid told him about the dragons and Ginny devised a plan for him, again involving the twins. Ginny found out the clue of the egg AND the implied meaning. Sure, he’s learning to cast spells, but he’s not learning to think for himself and he’s not learning to USE the spells for their intended purpose, which meant it never became natural for him. It doesn’t matter how many spells he knows, if he can’t use any of them well in actual situation.

I never like when the author has him use the twins’ products for the tasks.. forgetting the fact that he should be able to and could recreate those effects with his own magic and it doesn’t really show any kind of prowess. In canon, at least it showed he had guts and was an excellent flier. While in this, all it shows is that he can perform a spell every fourth year can (so much for those weeks and weeks of spell practice) and that he knows some pranksters. It’s novelty at best, but being reasonable I can admit that it’s not all that entertaining.

Nice idea there, never read one where Ginny has Tom's memories before. Hope they'll get closer soon.

What an interesting AU story! I like reading from Ginny's point of view. Interesting developments, eager to read what happens. Hinny is my OTP.
