Concerned chapter 1 . 10/16/2018 . The toes were still blue, the white extending up towards the ankle. In that condition, there was no way the child would be able to walk without collapsing. Almost instantly, the hot water drenched the child completely from head to toe, his spiky brown hair flattening out from the weight. It was clear the water was doing wonders to the child's body, the blue beginning to recede as the hot water helped the circulation. Dude the kid would scream if Reborn did that. Going from icy to boiling would be excruciatingly painful. It would be even worse if its like the kid and its almost hypothermic to as hot as possible. Try it yourself. Hold a piece of ice in your hand for a few seconds rhen immediately put the icy fingers in hot tap water. Painful. Heck I've tried to put my feet in icy water for sports injuries and decided the pain was worse than the injury/ fatigue. Just from icy water. No warm involved. What does work is a gradual shift from cold to hot. Cuz homestly, there does come a point where cold tap water actually feels warm to a person who is suffering from hypothermia. Another thing is that you can go into shock and possibly die due to too rapid changes in temperature. You shoud chamge that lest some impressionable kid find someone in that situation follow your advice and potentially kill someone due to ignorance. Because both you and they didn't know better. The stuff we read stays with us. I remember life lessons I read in books when I was a child. They still affect me to this day. I took them as truth. Some I took as truth turned out to be false and I felt betrayed. Be careful what you write. You never know whose life you will affect for good or for ill. |

EmptySurface chapter 1 . 7/2/2015 I suppose that you're not very familiar with how to deal with hypothermia? If you had done that to try and help a child (or anyone, really) suffering from hypothermia, they could have (would have, most likely) died. It's the body's defensive mechanism to draw the blood away from extremities such as hands/arms, feet/legs to keep the vital organs warm and functioning despite the cold. That's why they look white/blue. If you dump someone like that into a hot bath, the brain is tricked into thinking that the body is back to normal, even though it's just the skin that has been warmed up, and will send out all the blood back into the extremities, and the organs will be shocked with cold blood. That's why people who have frozen to death are often found naked; as a last, desperate attempt to wake up, the brain sends the warm blood back out into the frozen extremities, making the victim suddenly feel too hot, and thus strips down. Other than that, it's an interesting plot so far. The thing with the bath made it a little hard to focus on the story, though, because all I could picture was little Tsuna ending up dead... :/ |
