Lunar Orphan chapter 1 . 6/26/2014 This story was proper brilliance, it was! I really enjoyed it's bittersweet ending too! And the dominance Stan portrayed was excellent. I really enjoyed it! I even talked me mate into reading it. Thanks for writing it, trust. :-) |
Honeypot Kitty chapter 1 . 1/12/2014 That was absolutely beautiful. :) I felt it in the bottom of my heart, I started tearing up at the end. |
pinkfloyd1770 chapter 1 . 8/21/2013 World building is the main draw of this story for me. You did an excellent job, both with vocabulary, internal thoughts and imagery, to convey that Stan lives in a world that is occasionally familiar yet fundamentally alien to our own. Simple things like Stan plainly saying 'I teach simbletone', without some unnecessary explanation of what exactly a simbletone is, because as the narrator, why would Stan assume that his audience wasn't from his own time frame? It's fitting that Kyle would have a job that requires meticulous attention to detail and comes with a sense of that he's doing important work (he is). To have that work lead to a discovery which will eventually make men obsolete acts as a cruel, cosmic irony, which Kyle of course feels very acutely, in a way reminiscent of Cartmanland. Even though Stan and Kyle will still be together, of course, I think Kyle is feeling a kind of metaphysical pain at the thought that there will never be another 'Stan and Kyle', since he, rightly I think, views the relationship between two men and two women to be quite different. As for Stan, I've said this before, but he's just...Stan. He's rational and level, if not complacent, and when agitated, (usually because of Kyle) he quickly equilibrates. This story really shows that Stan is perfectly happy to be in the here and now, in contrast to Kyle, who of course has to extrapolate forward and ruminate on all the consequences of his actions. At least, in the end, if nothing else, Stan and Kyle have a happy ending for themselves. I should have reviewed this on the SPBB site, but obviously didn't happen. Hopefully this late review makes up for that. This was a great sci-fi story, with all the futuristic elements seamlessly integrated into the narrative, and some wonderful scenes of intimacy between Stan and Kyle. Thanks for sharing. |
