I like your story, and I hope you can continu it.
for your computer, change your OS for a linux version . it's free, easier, you don't need "wallfire?" (it's "pare-feu" in french) or anti malwear.
and more, it can "re-boost" an old computer.
for example, now I write from a ten years old notebook. one of the first and cheaper notebook. I keep it, because it is small. and honestly, I'm so curious how many time it will be survive... ;p
it known dust, rain, an other "liquid accident", sand, ground (many time... I think the worst it was when I fell it from 2meters, he arrived on the screen)

Do you realize that Bilbo clanks and creaks when he walks? He's carrying so many metal weapons, both those that fit in sheaths and those that don't, and the leather belts and straps to fasten them all into place for ready withdrawal, that he really can't help it. :) Not to mention that as a group they get rather heavy.

The practical warrior uses armors and weapons that works with his(or her) fighting style. For the slow and large warrior heavy armor and/or shields and large weapons that maximize kinetic energy at the point of impact is the way to go, you may only hit once but they don't stand back up when you do. For the small and slight warrior light armor and penetrating weapons are to their advantage, both to avoid getting hit and to place damaging hits at the slightest opportunity. And you can't be fast when you're also dealing with the inertia of equipment that is half your weight. The practical warrior carries only the weapons that play to their strengths and when fighting alone have strategies to compensate for their weaknesses.

Obviously, unless you go back and rewrite, you can't fix this but you should bear it in mind.

As a writer, at least in this work, you have a problem. I can accept overpowered Bilbo, there are repercussions that come with it, I can accept the premise of shifts including the way tragedy caused Bilbo's shifts to change, that makes sense. I can accept the prejudice of those who have encountered his dangerous shifts at a bad time in his life, people are irrational idiots at heart. The problem is in your presentation. You are so hung up on telling your audience about your shiny concept that you are having inappropriate monologues spouted of by the wrong people at the wrong times instead of showing us their reactions, showing their blase reactions to most shifts and their extreme(if in the controlled elves reduced to a gasp and a small step back) reactions. Instead of questions and evaded answers and sudden need bringing Bilbo's secrets to light we have people who know how to keep secrets telling all about Bilbo's at the drop of a hat. Remember, we learn more about the characters and how they understand the world around them in how they react and interact.

(And why would the elves have three different rooms that they let animalistic Bilbo trash... and then keep them that way?)

It's not a bummer. Actually, it's a bit of a relief to read you're just unable to access a laptop/computer for the time being! When I saw this chapter was an apology, I was afraid the story had been abandoned/discontinued, so I'm really, really, REALLY glad to read it's just a dead laptop.

Well, maybe not that glad, having your laptop die on you is some mayor suckage. When mine died I used to send myself e-mails with ideas, inspirations and notes via my 3ds, as well as always carrying around a notebook for when I was out of reach of my WiFi spots, so I wouldn't forget anything before I got my new laptop.

But really, take whatever time you need, your fans will be patiently waiting :)
