I was reading ACO for summer reading and ended up finding your fanfic. I love your story so much! Sofia is a very well-developed character and I love seeing how she's struggling between common sense and falling for Alex. Things are definitely getting interesting as now Alex is different after the treatment. Can't wait to see more of it, please please please please update soon!

This is amazing! Can you please finish it?

I've reread this thing probably three times now and I so wish you would pick it up again- everyday existence willing of course. The comedy is spot on, the characters and universe as they should be (as nasty and vile as they are hilarious), and even the romance is great.

I do have to wonder whether or not Alex is actually capable of love. Sofia herself is aware that even though he cannot force her to acknowledge their "consensual agreement" due to the experimentation (nor even consummate it since the Ludovico technique conditioned him against any sexual expression), he still lacks empathy for the people he's hurt. I like how you made him utterly unreadable in Chapter 11; though we know him quite intimately in the novel due to the first person narration, here we are restricted to Sofia's uncertain, infatuated point of view.

Still, I adore Sofia. Few OCs are so relateable and human. She loves the story and loves Alex in spite of her better judgement. She's a fangirl and she knows it, yet she has enough common sense not to romanticize this guy, in spite of his charisma. I just love it; few stories which pair Alex up with any character acknowledge these elements of his character.

At any rate, this is a lovely story, funny, tension-packed, and even a little heartbreaking in its emotional honesty. Please do continue.

I know you have not updated in about two years, but if you ever have the hunch to return to this piece, then I believe you should. Most of the fan fiction on the ACO archive falls into two camps: Alex/OC stories and an assortment of unpleasantries. Now the latter is understandable since ACO is hardly a pleasant story; however, it does have a dark, dark sense of humor, something so many fics on the archive lack sorely. I adore the first several chapters of this story; it's like a bizarre, black comedy about two normal people trying to keep on the good side of these fascinating but horrible characters. It's almost like a horror-comedy in how well you balance suspense and terror with goofy one-liners and funny situations.

My only issue comes with the romance between Sofia and Alex. Then again, I am always wary of romances with this character, as he is quite misogynist and brutal in his behavior. I do like Sofia's struggle between physical attraction and common sense; I think a lot of the people who find themselves in the same boat can relate and this is really how a person would react around that dude. However I'm not so sure Alex would return any genuine feelings for any person, at least not in the universe of the Kubrick film. About the only signs of tenderness we see from him are toward his snake Basil or old Ludwig van. Then again, I think it could be possible to pull it off. I don't know how you intend to finish the story; for all I know, Alex's intentions could be a ploy for sympathy- or maybe not. Nevertheless, if you feel so inclined, it would be wonderful if you wrote more. You left off on such a cliff hanger; we may have to come up with our own conclusions.
