Reviews for The Muppet Show: Cynicism & Violence
geotic chapter 1 . 1/1/2019
I think you've done a wonderful job of capturing the spirit of the Muppet Show and making it work with the characters from Daria! Great job!
ADDAMSFAMILYTREE chapter 1 . 2/25/2014
Groovy and Gothic all rolled together. Why not have Statler & Waldorf visit 1313 Mockingbird Lane, with Marilyn greeting them at the door?
Dark Kuno chapter 1 . 9/17/2008
Asa huge fan of both Daria and the Muppet Show I have to applaud.

This was superbly executed. It felt like a real episode of the Muppet Show, yet managed to still capture the personalities of the Daria crew despite the short amount of interaction to really work with.

Dangit, now I have to take my Daria DVDs out of the player and break out my Muppet Show DVDs :)

This is one for the ages. I'd forgotten just how funny it is!
Ace Trax chapter 1 . 10/23/2002
This is a decent crossover fanfiction. The Muppets are very in character. The Lawndale-bunch however is a tiny bit out of character, but hey: All celebs in the Muppet Show are exaggerated.

Sad that Miss Piggy didn’t had more lines. Still, keep up the good work. I loved that bit with the Veterinarian’s Hospital.

4 out 5 stars.

What a wonderful fic. True to both shows! Bravo and encore.
Michael J. Clentworth chapter 1 . 9/29/2002
Does this have any connection with the video of Weezer's latest single?
RICHY chapter 1 . 9/28/2002
VERY FUNNY!
D. T. Dey chapter 1 . 9/23/2002
Most fics have reviewers claiming that they can easily see certain fics as real episodes of Daria. I say I can easily see this as a real episode of The Muppet Show, although I don't remember animated characters as guest stars[Probably because they never had any;)]. I didn't think I was going to like this, but I did. Now I've just got to find "Ravishing" on the All-Music Guide.

Thanks for the reviews, folks. Just a few quick notes I neglected to add in the credits:

"Sunday in the Park With George" is copyright (C) 2002 by Stephen J. Sondheim

As for the lack of Pigs In Space, I couldn't figure out a way to make it work, sadly. Maybe in the future if the brainworms attack me and force me to write another Muppet crossover with something else.

Thanks again!

WHOA! very original work it reminded me of a bad acid trip ala fear and loathing in las vegas. this fic warps realitys and minds yet still works and is quite amusing, the swedish chef was classic, and the yodeling squid was priceless, what else can i say? DOWN WITH MTV AND NOGGIN DARIA LIVES!
Kilroy Evans chapter 1 . 9/14/2002
That was fantastic!

Two complaints:

1. No Pigs In Space?

2. No Sweetums and/or makeup gag?

Other than that, loved it!
Mike Xeno chapter 1 . 9/13/2002
Okay... um... what's the word I'm looking for...

We'll start by saying that this fic left me speechless. If there was ever an impossible crossover, this is it. It is twisted and warped and hilarious. It captures the irreverance of the Muppet Show precisely, which in and of itself makes the story worthwhile - the original Muppet Show had a unique flavor that has never been seen since, even by the later incarnations of the Muppets. Erin brought it back. The yodeling squid was perfect, as was the Swedish Chef.

I wish I knew the song "Ravishing". I further wish that the various sight gags throughout the script could realize their full potential by being seen, but we can't have everything. Fanfic artists, please pay careful attention to this one, it deserves accompanying illustrations!
Steven Galloway chapter 1 . 9/12/2002
Ladies and gentlemen, it's official: Erin Mills is a certified lunatic. ;D Seriously, a very good crossover/lark/offbeat fic, Shallow. There was so much chaos here, it actually made sense! Liked the references to MTV, very clever...finally, I know a good hiding place to keep you from a very angry Daria...
Roger E. Moore chapter 1 . 9/10/2002
The crossover from Perky Hell, or as Daria puts it (in the production): "Oh, god." Too bad Upchuck wasn't around for Daria's final number. I hope I don't dream about this.
