Wow. This was such an interesting and well written introspection of Bertholdt! I really really loved it, you nailed it completely!

You know... I loved it. Reiner and Bertholdt are my favorite characters... and I think it's too much for them to carry on, you know? all this destruction, and hate.

I think this fic really captures how torn the both of them are personified in the series. Besides the breakdown of reiner, you can totally tell how bert was losing his resolve throughout too.
This was beautiful.

Beautiful introspective behind-the-scenes look into the convoluted minds of the villains we once knew as comrades. It's very hard to hate them as the bad guys when we've been living with Reiner's dissociative big brother personality for years.

Still, in the most recent chapter, when Jean and Connie are shouting at him through the protective barrier of Titan!Reiner's hands and neck, Bertholdt DOES break down, admitting that he came to see them as comrades as well and doesn't want to kill them (but still maintaining that he's still devoted to his mission). I was slightly disappointed that your writing didn't reflect the chips that those relationships made in Bertl's armor. Still a beautiful peek into the mind of the enemy Titan Shifters.

Oh man. This was wonderfully written, heart wrenching, and just beautiful.
