Oh my goodness, I loved it! Carla though, that bit was sad... Very nice, bittersweet ending and excellent way to wrap up Trenzalore - something we never got in the show...

you know what I absolutely loved this. Love the Clara/Carla bond, loved the way they were surviving in the island, loved Clara saying goodbye to Ella as if she were Carla. Perhaps next time you should just break this into chapters, it can get quite messy when you're reading on your phone and you keep losing where you've stopped every now and then haha :)

I read this a while ago, but never got around to reviewing. It's very good, very sad, and I loved it!

Loved it, always wished and am still hoping they'll do an episode where Clara meets a Clara, I never did like they way they handled it on the show, which was to pretty much sweep under the carpet (I mean why make a whole series arc out of it to abandon it then when it could have led to such character development?) I'm hoping we learn in s8 that she does remember things and see the Doctor's guilt for that. If not, well I'll just have to re-read this and pretend. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my, this was wonderful! First off - I'm not exactly sure why you categorized this as humor - because I was reading it last night (at least the pre-Carla parts) like this O.O - I was on the edge of my seat at the adventure and drama of reading about them trying to survive! But this was an extremely imaginative, beautifully executed story - I loved this line especially:

"I think it's wonderful that you can care about yourself." He told her. His breath was warm against her scalp as he pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "I think it's great that you can show concern for yourself, that you can comfort yourself, that you can thank yourself."

I don't know why, but it just got to me. Not just cause the Doctor can't, but it's a pretty amazing concept that Clara and Carla could have that understanding that way because of this. Just a beautiful sentiment.

I got choked up when Clara said goodbye to Ella - I've noticed in a bunch of your stories now, you just *get* and convey that mother/child bond and convey it perfectly. And your juxtaposing it with the dilemma of letting Carla sacrifice herself and leaving her without a mother - GAAAHHH. Absolutely heart-wrenching.

What a wonderful, wonderful story. Your readers can tell how much effort and time went into it - brava! :)

This was so brilliant! I love your writing style and how you do long chapters and oneshots! Seriously my favourite writer, your stories are just flawless.

The only thing monstrous about this is the size of it, which not a bad thing at all. More and not less of well thought out and brilliantly executed stories like this would be nice. I really enjoyed this, it was a interesting as a reader to try and wrap your head around Clara and Carla’s interactions, I mean that in a good way, like an it makes you think kind of way. Fantastic, really!

You kept Clara and the Doctor perfectly in character, it was funny, it was emotional, you summed their relationship up perfectly, Clara's interaction with Carla and her daughter, the survival scenes were so funny, the arguments and descriptions were amazing... everything was just great. This story is my personal favorite now, thank you for writing this.

Wow! What a good story! I really like the idea of Clara interacting with one of her echoes, and how she has to have that argument with herself about dying for the Doctor. And I like that Clara ended up using Carla's words as she (Clara) argued with the Doctor - she really realized the truth of what Carla had said.
I also enjoyed the 'surviving on the deserted island' scenes (although couldn't they have used the sonic screwdriver to set something on fire, to create a large fire? Or cut the vines that attached the coconuts to the tree (although the visual of Clara teetering on the Doctor's shoulders was pretty great!)?)
