This was a really enjoyable read. It was a nice character study and welcome break from the standard heavy action or fluffy, shipper-y stories (not that there's anything wrong with either of those!)

What I really enjoyed - other than getting to learn some really cool new sayings - was that you didn't hide any of Kaoru's canon flaws. You let her admit them, you made them understandable, but you never let the character's strength waver. Excellent writing.

I really liked the childs point of view here! I personally envisioned her father a little more harsh and impatient than you did, but he taught her well nonetheless ;). Refreshing way to shed some light on how Kaoru built character from her experiences and the values her dad instilled in her.

I noticed that you kept mispelling "sew" and "sewing". "Sowing" is when you throw seeds on a field.

nice way to incorporate and to apply those sayings in her experiences in her life.

There are too few stories about Kaoru-dono - how she grew up, where she got that generosity, that strength and grace - overall, your story is a 5/5 on plot, originality, writing style, emotion and character! Love it (I'm biased because i love Kaoru also!)

That was incredibly beautiful, light and full of so much love and wisdom. you depicted the relationship between child and parent so well and were able to draw it to both past and present fluidly.

I don't know why but this line

Made me cry like no other line/part of this fanfic could. _ Seriously.

Thanks so much for writing about this...I believe Kaoru's past is the one that's most lacking in perspective in the manga and fandom in feneral. it was like an afterthought for Nobuhiro... And this girl who's heart and soul is as strong or even stronger than most of the main characters deserves a 'background' exaltation more than anything.

Very insightful character study of Kamiya Kaoru, who is too often overlooked. I loved Koshijiro's wise axioms, especially the frog in the well.

A few notes: Kaoru was 17 when she met Kenshin and the events of the manga occurred. If Kenshin practiced inside the training hall, he would remove his sandals before entering that sacred space.
